This book is full of great ideas to adventure with your kids! It’s categorized by season, and what I love about it is that there are projects for every age that do not include the use of electronics! This will be a great resource for any parent. I can’t wait to try out some of these ideas with my kids!
I love that there are various kinds of activities--something for every kid! There's arts, cooking, outdoors, and more! So if your child has a favorite kind of activity, there's somewhere to start. But the adventures are simple enough that it's not overwhelming to try something new.
I just wanted more from this book. I feel like the inspiration behind the book is awesome. It just felt a little boring to me. I am not sure if that feeling was due to the actual content or the "styling" visual components of the book.
A fun gathering of child-friendly adventures geared towards the children themselves. I’ve found my kids flipping through this book on multiple occasions already followed by a handful of projects. The illustrations are bright and inviting and instructions simple enough for my kids (ages 6 & 10) to read through. This would make a great addition to any family library.
This is a must have book for every parent and grandparent, as it supplies solutions to the "I'm bored" conundrum. I particularly like the way the book is organized into the seasons, providing fun ideas for each. There are suggestions for activities for a wide variety of interests and it is an engaging read..
Connection with our kids is hard to come by these days, it seems. And we do have time to connect, we can resort to the same old, same old. No longer! 100 Days of Adventure will give you 100 new, fresh ideas for engaging with your kids and making memories. They won't remember which math curriculum you used, but they will remember the adventures you went on together. My kids are 6 and 4, and we've had such a blast picking activities and making them happen. Most of the STEAM based activities are low prep and will get you engaging with the natural world and one another. This book deserves a place on every family's shelf!
This is not the kind of book you read. It doesn't have a lot of words. This is like a recipe book, but the recipes aren't for cooking food. They are recipes for adventure and fun with your family and friends, both inside and out. It is filled with beautiful, inspiring pictures and step by step instructions making each adventure easy to accomplish. I love how it is broken into seasons so you just choose your season and get started having all the fun that the time of year has to offer. I highly recommend this book and honestly think it should be curriculum for families. Greta has done all the work for you, thinking of these great activities. This is a must have for your bookshelf. Just don't leave it on the shelf. Bookmark the pages, take it outside, and do all the adventures.
This book is wonderful and magical in so many ways! The activities and prompts are easy to follow and actually doable! I love the meaningful connections it's helping me to make with my kids too! Definitely a must for your book collection!! My kids have bookmarked so many activities they can't wait to try!
*I was gifted a copy of this book to review, but the opinions are mine from experiencing and enjoying this book!
The first impression of 100 days of Adventure is such a beautifully illustrated book! It caught mine and my sons eyes and we all loved looking through it and choosing our next activity... that was when it dawned on me that the book was already serving its purpose, we were connecting even before going on the adventures!!!! There are all size adventures, couple minutes, hours, days...it fits all pockets and time frames. It has absolutely helped this mama get out of a rut and connect beautifully with her littles. I highly recommend!
Greta’s 100 Days of Adventure are so much fun! I enjoyed how she divided up the activities by season, so it is easy to find appropriate adventures for anytime. She has crafts, recipes, excursions, and ideas to appeal to a range of different ages and interests. I love the heart behind this book, and appreciate the return to "nature, books, creativity, and face to face relationships” over the “social media scroll”. This book is so needed for today’s families!
I have been a follower of Greta on Instagram since I read her first book and I knew this one would be special too. 100 Days of Adventure is the perfect book for families to spend time together. The activities are great for kids off all ages, but are so interesting that I wanted to make a few of my own! I love that this book will help families slow down and look for opportunities to bond. We can't wait to share this book with friends that visit and take it with us when we travel!
As a homeschooling mom of four, I spend most hours of the day with my children. However, I often find myself struggling to come up with fresh ideas that foster creativity, exploration, and adventure. Greta offers fantastic suggestions for kids of all ages in this colorful new book. Some highlights for our family:
1. Written for kids - I love that I can give this book to my children who can read and follow the instructions for many of the activities.
2. Great design - The colors, pictures, and illustrations are so adorable and make the book intriguing for children.
3. Variety of activities - We live in a place with long winters so I was afraid many of the activities would be geared toward warmer weather. Thankfully, Greta included indoor and outdoor activities some being simple and others more complex. I'm glad we will have plenty of adventure ideas for the whole year.
4. We love the checklist of activities at the beginning of each season. This is a fun way to keep track of how many adventures we've had and how many we still have to look forward to in the coming season.
We look forward to using Greta's book as a regular part of our family culture and I think the ideas she suggests will just be a springboard for my children to come up with ideas of their own!
*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
100 Days of Adventure: Nature Activities, Creative Projects, and Field Trips for Every Season is a well illustrated fun book by Greta Eskridge absolutely full of good ideas for fun family friendly activities to get people into the outdoors and having fun together. Due out 3rd May from Thomas Nelson, it's 208 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats.
The illustrations by Emily Paik are clear and colorful and full of detail. The suggested activities are grouped thematically by season: Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring. They include physical activities like hikes, volunteering, nature cleanup, as well as more cerebral observational activities like star-watching, poet practice, and indoor cooking and reading. The activities are varied and fun and there's literally something for everyone.
The activities are also full of checklists for measuring and recording progress. Although it's not specifically stated, there -are- lots of inclusive activities which are perfectly do-able by disabled readers. Although the book is aimed at the middle grades, there are good tips scattered throughout for caregivers and facilitators.
It's a fun and worthwhile book with something for everyone.
Five stars. This would be a good selection for public or school library acquisition, activity/scouting groups and home use.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
This book provides 100 activities for children to partake in throughout the seasons. What a clever idea! The ideas are all very do-able and would provide a well-rounded (skill building; interest exploring) and fulfilling (fun; engaging) experience through each season. Colourful illustrations and photos enhanced the content. Will be purchasing for our school library!
I loved the inviting illustrations, step by step instructions, and nature-based activities that encourage families to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. This would not only be a great handbook to beat summer boredom, but also to provide inspiration and activities for camp counselors, librarians, and anyone who works with children.
The author writes with enthusiasm and knowledge. The activities are appropriate for all ages. I was only able to download a sample due to the size of the book and the digital limitations, but I look forward to ordering this book for our library and paging through it as we carry out our summer reading activities this year.
I highly recommend this for teachers, camp counselors, librarians, and families of all ages.
If there is anything I love more than cute ideas for kids, it is bucket lists for kids. I love the ideas for this that are good for kids and adults. These are all ideas that I will enjoy, as well as my 14 year old all the way down to 6 years. Amazing and so adorable!
I enjoyed this book because of it's writing style, unique topic, and the fact that it really provided a thought-provoking experience. Recommended for readers who want to read slowly so as to take time to process.
100 Days of Adventure by Greta Eskridge is the perfect companion to the author’s last book about taking adventures with your children. In this book, the author details so many fun and easy adventures that you can have with your children. It is a great resource for parents and caregivers. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
to be posted on release day
Due to download constraints, I wasn't able to review the full 100 days. The book separates out the 100 days by season, with 25 activities for Summer, Fall, Winter & Spring. While this book is geared towards children, a lot of the activities and learning can be done by anyone of any age! There are recipes, outdoor activities, ways to help your community and all sorts of fun activities included. Some of the summer activities I'd most like to try are: tying knots, making smores and kayaking! There are a lot of great ways to fill the days of summer vacation in the book. I also was able to get a sneak at some of the Fall activities as well - and my favorites of those that I checked out were: Make wax leaves, see a symphony concert, and a "day trip to another country" - which is essentially finding a neighborhood near you that might celebrate cultures different than your own.
If you have kids with adventurous spirit, I am sure they will find plenty to do within this book - I only was able to look at a portion of it, and it gave me plenty of ideas as well!
I received a free e-copy of this book from NetGalley in order to write this review. I was not otherwise compensated.
Thank you, Thomas Nelson, for the advance reading copy.
Kudos to the team for the specific activities for specific seasons charted out so systematically in the book!
The options are many and yet so practical and accessible for the kids and the adults who would assist them. The pages and the book from cover to cover is so colourful and cheerful inside out.
The book provides recipes, activity sections, related real pictures, colourful illustrations, specific steps on how to dos for each activity. I find this book so inspirational and would help families and schools to keep the kids engaged in outdoor fun activities as well as with indoor ones which would help them cut down on watching screen.
A must have activity book.
