I received an electronic copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for honest feedback. Thank you to the publisher, author, and NG. I also received a smaller sample from the overall book due to the large file size making it untenable. This review is based on the excerpt.
Cover/Design: I like the cover. It’s pretty simple, but it is still eye catching and artistic. The layout of the book is quite cute. The icons, fonts, and other images are modern & pretty.
Contents: So, this book is about ideas for activities for kids to do outside, including nature activities, creative projects, and field trips for all seasons. The contents are separated into seasonal categories.
Summer - there are some ideas like food & treats (think, camping and sweet cooling treats), exploring outside, swimming, etc.
Fall - more recipes, things to do when the weather isn’t great, crafting activities
Spring - Natural things like flowers / trees, insects & exploring, looking at clouds
Winter - Things to do in winter weather (inside and outside), baking, holiday stuff
The actual activities will be mostly 1-2 pages long and include step-by-step instructions. They also include a tip section and checklists.
Ultimately, I think this book is cute and gives a handful of interesting ideas for kids. Thinking back to when I was younger, I was really entertained by things like checklists… so, it would be a cool fit for a certain age group & type of young reader. I don’t think many of the ideas are unique, but it’s cool to have them collected together. If it gets younger readers’ attention and gets them exploring/learning, then so be it!
Are you looking for ideas for new adventures to take with your kids? From your home and backyard to a trip away from home, there are lots of great ideas in this book to explore together.
A great collection of Nature inspired activities to keep children adventuring all year round. The book shows a "roadmap" before detailing each adventure. This is helpful for children and parents to plan for each season and adapt to their surroundings or what is available.
I received this book for free for an honest review from netgalley #netgalley
Such wonderful information! As a single homeschool mom this is perfect.
The organization was neat and tidy. The book was easy to read and understand. Where it fell short for me was several of these ideas were pretty basic. I was looking for 100 new or unique ideas. The word adventure in the title led me to believe that these ideas would be bold.
I think it would be a good resource for a summer camp instructor to have on hand.
*******Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC, in exchange for an honest review***********
