An absolute delight!
If you love cozy-mysteries, this first in a series, is a must read.
The development of the story and getting to know the characters, flows easily as we turn each page.
Loved the surprising turn and that it didn’t end with a cliffhanger.
Returning to her Cornish home town of Penstowan after resigning from the Met police in London, Jodie "Nosey" Parker hopes to start a new career of caterer. Her very first event was the wedding of her childhood best friend which ended disastrously with a death and a missing bride. On the positive side is this cozy debut takes off with a fresh tone and really engaging characters. I've already lined up the second book in the series as I totally enjoyed this one.
I wasn't sure about this book when I began it. But the story quickly picked up and I was all in. I liked that the mystery had a few different offshoots that were also good. The author draws her characters very well and I could really picture 'Nosy" and her friends as they worked to solve the mystery.
Murder on the Menu, first in the Nosey Parker Mysteries series. It was fantastic! The main character, Jodie (nicknamed Nosey) is a former police officer, now caterer/chef. While catering a wedding for her childhood friend Tony, a dead body is found. The pace is great, the descriptions of the Cornish village (& surrounding area) are wonderful, and the supporting characters are very likeable. Jodie has a preteen daughter (Daisy), a lovely/funny mother, and an ex-husband we don't know too much about (other than he cheated on her, doesn't spend time with his daughter, and doesn't live nearby). There are hints of future romance, and some cute flirting.
The story/mystery is very interesting and well put together. Jodie is an absolute hoot! Humor throughout the entire book. The author Fiona Leitch is new to me, and after reading this fun book, I plan to seek out her other series. I highly recommend this book. Having the lead character be a former copper helps - no silly inexperienced amateur sleuth out making silly/reckless decisions. I really liked that. You'll definitely like Jodie, her sweet preteen daughter, and all the other characters surrounding her. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Thank you Netgalley, One More Chapter and Harper 360 for this wonderful ARC. In return, I'm submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.
Cozy mysterious are one of my favorite genres. This was written very well and kept me hooked throughout the book. I will hopefully find more of this authors books on Amazon
