Thank you to Netgalley & Blackstone Publishing for this ARC.

This was filled with so much drama and felt very reality-tv mixed with a soap opera. I truly enjoyed the story and the mix of characters, up until the end. The ending felt too rushed for a plot that was so drawn out. To finally get to the meat and potatoes of it only to be wrapped up so quickly was a let down.

This would have been a 5 star for me, but Ive knocked it to a 4 due to the rushed ending.

I thought the premise to this novel sounded so interesting, but I couldn't get into the simplistic writing at all.

One Of Us is Dead

“Oppulance, sex and betrayal” - oh, my!

One of Us is Dead is the latest from the charming Jeneva Rose. It’s a fast paced popcorn thriller that harkens the salaciousness of Melrose Place, the ostentatiousness of Dallas, the vitriol of desperate housewives. Set in an affluent gated community, seeped and champagne, and underpinned by gossip and drama that takes centre stage at Buckhead’s high- end salon, Glow.

The only thing deadlier than a killer look is a scorned socialite with a score to settle.

One of Us is Dead is teeming with a cast that is likably vile. All of them with their fair share of secrets. Jenny, owner of Glow salon, knows more than she lets on. And in this town knowledge is the ultimate power. Especially when one of the Buckhead elites winds up dead.

This was a quick read that is best paired with popcorn, chocolate and glass of sparkling goodness.

Cheers Jeneva and Drew and Winston.

So entertaining!
The drama, the humour, the deceit.
So much cray cray - the woman of Buckhead are fabulously ridiculous and I love it!

Review: One of Us is Dead by Jeneva Rose 3.5⭐️

If you love a totally outrageous, drama filled domestic thriller, you will love One of Us is Dead. It is filled with snarky remarks, backhanded compliments, money marriages and cosmetic procedures.

The story has multiple POVs and I liked the fact that we didn’t know who died until the end, it added some suspense. However, there was a lot of build up for a pretty quick ending and I wanted more murder/thriller and less rich people drama.

It was a fun read for people who like Real Housewives meets Big Little Lies.

In Buckhead, you have southern housewives that have way too much time on their hands and want to keep things interesting in their life.

Jenny is single and owns the salon called Glow, she listens to the ladies that come in and likes to just listen and be in the background.

Olivia is a shit starter she likes to start drama and she is very coincided. Everyone says she is a barbie doll everything is fake.

Shannon is the ex-wife of Bryce she use to be the queen bee in Buckhead till the divorce now she has to learn how to go about being on her own.

Crystal is Bryce's new wife and she is not used to the money and drama she lives the simpler things.

Karen is a real estate agent that has worked hard her whole life and only one in the group that has a kid.

This book reminds me of Desperate Housewives and I loved reading it it was hilarious and drama-filled who wouldn't love it.
There is so much drama some unnecessary but damn these ladies are catty as hell. They make small digs at each other over everything and think they're all better than the rest besides Karen, Crystal, and Jenny. I love Jenny in this book she is quiet and observant. She is a badass.

Thank You, Net Galley and Blackstone Publishing

This is definitely a quick and juicy read! I totally binge read this one (which is not like me at all!) so that goes to show you just how into it I was.

It is a thicker book at 350+ pages, and it has a long slow build up, but that did not stop me from devouring it! Rich women, drama, secrets, twists, sex, betrayal, and death—what else could one need in a book?

I have seen many people compare this to the Netflix series Selling Sunset, The Real Housewives, as well as the book The Hunting Wives, and I totally got all of those vibes from reading this one, so if you enjoyed either of those ones, I think you will definitely like this one as well.

The characters are rich, snotty women full of drama, who you love to hate. This story is told in multiple POVs but is definitely easy to follow. Each time I turned the pages I wanted more and more, this is one that is hard to put down! The author is an amazingly talented storyteller in each of her books, and I am already looking forward to her next book!

I suggest going into this fun popcorn thriller completely blind! Just make sure to hang on for the ride and have enough time set side to read this one, because you won’t want to put it down once you start it!

**3.5-stars rounded up**

Jenny is the owner of a posh salon in the upscale area of Buckhead in Atlanta. Her salon, Glow, caters to a set number of wealthy clients who come in for very regular treatments. Because of this exclusivity and frequency of visits, Jenny has come to know her clients very, very well. Almost too well for her tastes. Along with her assistant, Jenny has become quite versed in navigating the ups-and-downs of her clients toxic relationships.

The most recent drama involves former Queen Bee, Shannon, whose politician husband, Bryce Madison, recently left her for a 20-something waitress he met while on a business trip to Texas.

The waitress, Crystal, has recently moved to town and become the new Mrs. Madison. Young and innocent, like Dorothy walking into Oz, Crystal has no idea what she is in for when it comes to Buckhead society.

For her part, Olivia is all too happy to sit back and watch Shannon's demise. Truthfully, she's been waiting for that star to fall for a while. As she sees it, now is her time.

Lastly, there's Karen. The least aggressive socially of the bunch, Karen's still hiding some big secrets of her own.

These women are used to a constant state of drama, with under-handed insults being slung back and forth, but how far are they willing to take it? Would someone actually kill to protect their position in the community? How about to keep their secrets secret? Y'all, somebody is not going to make it out alive...

One of Us is Dead is like Fried Green Tomatoes met The Real Housewives of Atlanta, they fell in love and had a baby that was essentially an Adult version of Mean Girls. You know based off that description that my evil a$$ is 100% here for it. I had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook for this one, which does feature a full cast. It was really well done and I definitely recommend that format.

It was fun having a different narrator for each perspective. It felt like I was really getting to know these characters and they are twisted. Everyone was hiding something. Everyone knew things they shouldn't. They were just all up in each others business. It was captivating.

The more I think on it, the more I am realizing just how much fun I had with it. It was really close to a full 4-stars for me. I think initially though, I was disappointed that the ending wrapped everything up so quickly. I wanted more intrigue as far as the murdery bits were concerned. For most of the narrative I actually forgot that the whole point was that someone was ultimately going to end up dead. There was so little focus on that. I would have appreciated more time invested in those aspects, but of course, that is completely a personal taste issue. I was just sort of hoping for a wee more mystery.

Overall, this is a super fun, fast-paced, dramatic and slightly ridiculous read. Be forewarned, however, if you are not into girl-on-girl slander, back-stabbing and crime, this may not be for you. Just know going in these women are brutal. They aren't holding any punches.

Thank you so much to the publisher, Blackstone Publishing, for providing me with a copy to read and review. I had a ton of fun with this one!

One Of Us Is Dead by Jeneva Rose
3.5/5 (rounded to 4 on GR) ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

First I’d like to thank @netgalley and @blackstonepublishing for this ARC copy of One Of Us Is Dead by Jeneva Rose for an honest review.

This was an okay read for me. It was good. Wasn’t bad I was just anticipating a much more thrill filled ride but got more of a mean girl vibe all throughout. Gave me Selling Sunset vibes with all the lavish living and expensive lifestyles.

Definitely kept me coming back, wanting to find out what was happening and I enjoyed the short chapters and multiple POV’s. All the women of Buckhead had multiple layers to themselves that needed to be pulled back to make the story what it was which I felt was needed.

I just felt the ending was a bit rushed and was a little lackluster to me that left me wanting more than what we got in the last few chapters.

I would still recommend this read! We are all different and I would love to chat with those who may have a different perspective or if we even felt the same.

Be on the lookout for it on your shelves April 26, 2022!

Happy Reading friends! 💕

Buckhead; with the prestige, upper class housewives and the cheeky backstabbing, reminded me so much of Wisteria Line of Desperate Housewives! I absolutely adored and devoured it. The character built was beautifully done by the multiple POV and short chapters and I truly felt that I got to know the women. It is a fast paced, edge of your seat mystery. The ending was the cherry to the cake.

This is the third book I've read by Jeneva Rose. I absolutely loved and sped through her first two, however this one took me a month to get through and I even had to switch back and forth between audio and kindle versions. All the friends story sounded kind of like Real Housewives mixed with Mean Girls and could have used some comedy because it wasn't giving full on thriller or mystery vibes. And then the big twist was almost way too serious for this one. It seemed to come out of nowhere, there wasn't any build up of horror or trauma and the big job reveal could have been something less serious. Maybe it's just me, but so for several of the women to not really take it so seriously threw the ending off for me. I'll still read Jeneva's books but this wasn't her best.

One of us is Dead was one of the few adult mystery novels that I've read (I'm trying to get more into this genre) and I really enjoyed it! It starts off slow, giving us sneak peeks into the lives of the people of Buckhead and understanding who the women of Buckhead are, through the multiple POVs. The author also creates the sense of mystery and suspense through the alternative timeline of past and present and the mystery in the present timeline with the detective questioning Jenny (protagonist) about the murder, without the readers getting to know who the murderer is as well as who was murdered.

This book was sometimes hard to read (I had to leave the book for a couple hours/ days while reading) because of how catty and malicious the women and their thoughts were. It felt like a very accurate representation of some rich societies, especially in the way they're portrayed in some movies and tv shows. I did enjoy reading everyone's POVs and seeing how their thought processes work and what their feelings were about different situations in the book. I also liked seeing the contrast of the Buckhead women's POVs with Crystal's POV, since she was a new addition, and not a "true" Buckhead woman.

Overall, I liked the suspense of the novel as well as the ending. I hadn't guessed the ending/ what had happened. Usually, I tend to catch hints pretty fast or figure out the ending easily, so for me, if I'm kept on my toes about the mystery or if I didn't catch on earlier what had happened, then the book is good, and the mystery is done well. And since I didn't guess most of what transpired at the end, I would say this is a great mystery novel.

I haven't read Big Little Lies but I saw the show, so I will say that if you liked the show, you will like this book! Also, in general, if you like mystery novels, I would highly recommend checking this one out!

Hello favorite read of April and quite possibly one of my favorite thrillers of the year! This was my first read by Jeneva Rose, and I basically devoured the audio for this one, I highly recommend listening to it if you can. It was very well done and an absolutely entertaining read!

Four women, one wealthy town, what could go wrong? A LOT, let me tell you, and I was here for all of it. Told from each woman’s POV, I loved how this was done and the insights were great. We have queen bee Shannon who has been dumped by her husband for a younger model, and she doesn’t take too well to this. The younger model is Crystal, a Texas gal who is young, naive, and doesn’t know what she is getting herself into, or does she? Olivia is eagerly awaiting the queen bee spot, after all, it’s really been she who should have been the queen all this time…. And then Jenny, who owns Glow, the most exclusive salon in town, she knows everyone’s secrets and desires….

You put these ladies all together and it is a glorious recipe for disaster, and in fact, there is an actual disaster that we learn of up front, but not all the details, so we are right there with the detectives and the ladies as we all work through the events trying to figure out what happened the night that… one of us is dead…

Haha sorry, I couldn’t resist! But really, this book is so good, it is entertaining, addicting, and I was caught off guard by that ending, I loved it! I cannot wait for this one to be in the world on Tuesday, 4/26 so that you can add it to your list and enjoy it as much as I did!

Thank you to @NetGalley and @BlackstonePublishing for the advanced digital copy and ALC to review.

Wow this book was phenomenal. The best housewives thriller I have ever read. The story kept me on my edge of the seat the entire time. I never could have guessed the twists and turns that occurred. Mean girls, scandals, & lies. The best combination for a thriller!

I really enjoyed this book! While I wouldn't necessarily consider this to be a thriller, it was a great mystery with a surprising twist at the end. The rich, snobby women were so awful but at the same time so entertaining! I thought that Oliva was the most interesting character...bless her heart!!

After being approved for the digital version, the publisher sent me a widget for the audiobook. I had planned to go back and forth between ebook and audiobook but ended up listening to the entire book because it was so awesome!! It had multiple narrators and they all did such a fantastic job and made it such a fun experience!

Thank you Netgalley and Blackstone Publishing for the e-arc and audio version of this book in exchange for my honest opinion!

A cross between a classic murder mystery and the real housewives - this was fast-paced fun read with all the suspense!

Following the friendships of the rich, famous and manipulative housewives of Buckhead as told through multiple POVs. And when one of the inner-circle ends up murdered, who’s dead and who did it? Was it Shannon, recently dumped by her politician husband Bryce? Maybe it was Crystal: new to town and Bryce’s new wife? Or Olivia, the unofficial queen of Buckhead and ultimate backstabber? Or could it even be Jenny, the owner of the most exclusive salon in town who seems to know everyone’s secrets?

This was a quick read read, a classic suspense novel with an ending I didn't see coming! I would recommend this for lovers of Big Little Lies (although this one is a little more lighthearted!). The many POV gave insight into the characters' suspicions of each other and really allowed the villain to shine. I usually don’t love when the characters aren’t likable, but the author really tackles the “rich bitch” trope well and I will definitely be checking out her previous thriller!

Thanks to blackstone publishing and netgalley for the e-arc!

Before I received this arc I saw this book all over TikTok and Instagram so I was worried it wouldn't live up to the hype - spoiler alert... it did!

During the story, we follow a group of very wealthy ladies in Atlanta who we'll call frenemies - bitchiness to them is all in good fun until someone ends up dead! The multi-pov aspect of this book makes you feel like you are an onlooker or eavesdropper in their gossip - this book was such a fun time, this is like desperate housewives meets Liar it was genius!

I'll be picking up a physical copy of this as soon as they are avalible in the U.K!

Welcome to Buckhead, Georgia…yea you know the place where the infamous, “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘖𝘧 𝘈𝘵𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘢" Bravo celebrities reign.

It’s all about power, money and manipulation in this town and this circle of women knows how to play their cards to win at any cost.
Jenny is a beauty bar owner where she is a one stop shop for all her clients needs. She can only have 20 clients and yes she charges out the ass for these gossip monsters.

All was well until one of there own was divorced by their husband for a younger model and things started getting dirty quick.

This is a book, you despise the characters and wish most of them will die by the end to make this world a better place.

If you look at fancy houses and wish you could be rich, read this and you might change your mind and realize life is good right where you are!
