This was just GREAT and such a guilty pleasure read. I love a good book that involves rich people, murder, and DRAMA--One of Us Is Dead was just that. I definitely recommend this one for lovers of Desperate Housewives and The Hunting Wives.

Huge thanks to Netgalley for this amazing ARC.
Wow, I'm just speechless. This book had me on the edge every damn second and I just couldn't put it down.

This book is full of a lot of characters (and I don't mean in number). Each of the women featured in the book has such an interesting story to tell and while I did find myself drawn to Jenny - the salon owner catering to all these rich women - each of them where very interesting in the their own rights. As the story unfolds you begin to wonder what really happened and you get bits and pieces from each characters story more and more unfolds.

I really enjoyed the slow tension that this book builds and I found myself getting through the book very quickly in order to find out what happened and because I am not the sort of person who tries to solve book I enjoy getting surprised by the ending.

This was a fun book and I enjoyed the messiness of hilarity of all of the characters.

This was such a fun read. It reminded me of a more detailed version of my favorite guilty pleasure, The Real Housewives of New Jersey. This is everything that I wanted it to be, full of betrayal and lies, snarky and sarcastic, with a hint of friendship thrown in.

Written in multiple POVs, I did find myself having to turn back to see whose voice I was reading from because I kept flying through the pages. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it if you like this type of drama.

Thank you Netgalley and Blackstone Publishing for an eARC of this book.

I don’t even know where to begin. This book was incredible and was so enjoyable to read. It was so well written- I had no idea what plot twist was coming! Just everything about this book was perfection.

We follow the main characters Jenny, Olivia, Karen, Shannon and Crystal, all housewives, except Jenny, and all the drama and pettiness that occurs in the town of Buckhead. It’s taken to a whole new level when someone ends up dead. Who did it??? You’ll have to read to find out ;)

I loved everything about this book, the characters were so comical at times, the setting, the pace, the different POVS, I could go on. I think it would be very easy to go the other way with this book because all the characters, while comical, are all so awful. I hated almost all of them but they were written in a way that was entertaining meaning I didn’t get sick of them which I think was incredible. The variety of POVS kept me on my toes and helped me get a better understanding of each of the characters.

The whole time reading this book I was on edge (in a good way!!). I had no idea who the killer was and when I tell you THE SHOCK! Holey moley.

I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. It was such a fun read and even helped me out of a reading slump! I loved it.

This book was Mean Girls with huge bank accounts and I mean that in the best possible way. I loved the characters even when i hated them if that makes sense there world of wealth and excess pulled me right in and i was hooked by the characters and the setting itself. I thought the writing was really well done and i loved all the twists and turns this book took. some i saw coming but some of the bigger revelations shocked me and that doesn't happen to often. I also loved that ending. this is a book i can find myself re reading in the future to see if there were little breadcrumbs along the way i missed the first go around. I would highly recommend and cant wait to check out more from this author.

Multiple POV’s from the bitchy wives, back and forth between past and present, tons of secrets, lies, packed with crap ton of drama, scandals and sex. I enjoyed this fast-paced thriller/suspense book from Jeneva, one of my favourites from her. I’m shocked at how I find myself rooting for a couple of these catty women or DEEPLY loathing the one and only OLIVIA (IYKYK), the characters were developed beautifully! I had no idea what I was getting into reading this book but it definitely delivered. The ending was just 👌🏽 .I highly recommend this book to all my bookworm friends, grab this book or add it to your TBR!

Summary: Meet the women of Buckhead -- a place of expensive cars, huge houses, and competitive friendships.

Shannon was once the queen bee of Buckhead. But she’s been unceremoniously dumped by Bryce, her politician husband. When Bryce replaces her with a much younger woman, Shannon sets out to take revenge …

Crystal has stepped into Shannon’s old shoes. A young, innocent Texan girl, she simply has no idea what she’s up against …

Olivia has waited years to take Shannon’s crown as the unofficial queen of Buckhead. Finally, her moment has come. But to take her rightful place, she will need to use every backstabbing, manipulative, underhand trick in the book …

Jenny owns Glow, the most exclusive salon in town. Jenny knows all her clients’ secrets and darkest desires. But will she ever tell?

Who amongst these women will be clever enough to survive Buckhead -- and who will wind up dead? They say that friendships can be complex, but no one said it could ever be this deadly.

My thoughts: thank you @netgalley @blackstonepublishing and @jenevaroseauthor for the advanced copy it is available to purchase now! This was such a good read it was a happy combination of the hunting wives and big little lies. I loved the setting of the salon and these crazy rich women! It was a fun read and mystery that will leave you guessing until the end! In my opinion Jeneva has totally hit it out of the park again, and the perfect marriage was so hard to follow up on! A fun happy mystery with some pretty terrible women, what more could you ask for 😂.

When I got the opportunity to read this book I was so excited as it sounded very promising, and it was exactly what I was hoping for (and a little more)! One of Us Is Dead is the perfect combination of the drama we love from reality shows and satisfies the heart pounding thrill we seek from a good mystery novel.

The women of Buckhead are complicated. They are beautiful, rich, and popular, with their big houses, perfect marriages, and membership to the beauty salon Glow. Or so it seems. When Glow's owner, Jenny, is being interviewed by a detective regarding the truth of the women of Buckhead, secrets and lies come to light. Buckhead, and the people within, are not what it seems, and it all comes down to one catastrophic night.

I could not put this book down. Told from multiple perspectives and in short chapters, this was a breeze to go through and I could not stop devouring the revelations of this town full of lies and deceit. I enjoy a book that does not play all the cards right away, yet still gives enough chapter by chapter to keep you intrigued, and that was mastered in this book. At one point I could tell there was a transition and the revelation was building, and when it came to light my jaw literally dropped. This was such a fun read, and perfect for those who love unraveling mysteries bit by bit.

What a fun twisty book! I loved it. The characters are crazy and so easy to hate, yet I couldn’t stop reading it.

This book is a perfect mix between The Last Mrs Parrish and Big Little Lies! It also has the Samantha Downey vibes I love!

I love books about crazy people who will do whatever it takes to stay on top. The ending definitely took a dark twist, and won’t be for everyone. Check out the CW before reading it!

I loved it until the very end. It wrapped up way too quickly and conveniently, and I wish it could have been longer. Or the middle part shorter. It was too picture perfect. I didn’t see the ending coming though!

Why was it not for me?

Let me start with the fact that I adored The Perfect Marriage by this author, which makes this all the more disappointing. My egh face in this photo is how I feel.

The writing was 🥴

The character development was nonexistent.

The plot was very haphazard and not in the good way.

There’s a random subplot thrown in that I was like…what?? And I won’t say what because it is possibly a spoiler but yeah. It made me feel ick.

This book didn’t feel tasteful or exciting or suspenseful, I was just left wanting for so much and felt egh.

Also the reveal and end was 🤷‍♀️

What I enjoyed?
The book was easy and fast paced.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC of One of Us Is Dead!

I enjoyed all the rich people drama and the many points of view in this book! I really liked how one of the perspectives was from the owner of the beauty shop all the other ladies go to. All the characters are pretty unlikable, but they are supposed to be.

I think the pacing was a little off for me and the middle lost me a little bit. There were some twists at the end that I didn't see coming but I also think the ending was a little to quick for me. I wish there was more suspense thrown it, especially around the middle of the book.

I really liked her other book, The Perfect Marriage and I will pick up her next one! I really like her writing, this one just didn't fulling grab me!

I seen this book mentioned by the authors husband on tiktok, and immediately ran to netgalley to request it.

this book is EVERYTHING. if you like drama filled tv shows, book with multiple povs where everyone is unreliable, elite families with plenty of secrets to hide - you have to read this.

i was immediately captured into this book from beginning to the end. it was a constant flip back of ‘what actually happened? who actually did it?’

you don’t know who’s murdered, motivation, suspects - anything. you find little clues out throughout the story through gossip between these rich southern women. who, by the way, make amazing characters. they’re so cunning, and sly that you never know who’s actually telling the truth. what piece of gossip is real, and if what happened really happened in that way.

the subtle details the author puts throughout the story so you can connect things together was so perfect, i found myself reading it then thinking ‘wait’ and flipping back to other pages and it was so well done.

i love how the book took place in buckhead, since that’s so close to me. it felt like an everyday story you’d heard being gossiped about, or read in an article - the author got the personalities for these type of women down pat! it made for such a comical, and enjoyable mystery.

the ending really did have my shocked, i know i’ve seen a few people say that it was rushed but i think it was paced well honestly. i think it made a way bigger impact, and made you think ‘wait, wtf?’

i overall really enjoyed this,

The cover of "One of Us is Dead" is what drew me back again and again to check this one out on NetGalley until I finally requested it. Thank you NetGalley for the advance copy.

I really enjoyed the story of the women involved in "One of Us is Dead." I didn't think I would to start with because of their elite, rich, catty lives. However, the author does a good job of giving a different voice to each character as they alternate chapters throughout the book.

The mystery of who died and what happened is foreshadowed from the beginning and hangs over the reader throughout, but again, the author doesn't reveal too much too soon. It's easy to guess parts but you can't guess all of it.

My main criticism is that the book wrapped things up to nice and neat. And there were some back stories that were hinted at but didn't reveal enough - for me anyway! I'd recommend this for fans of mysteries and thrillers, and those that enjoy strong female characters.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5

What I enjoyed;
I found to think that I was reading a Real Houswives episode which was so fun and interesting. There was drama, friendship, more drama, secrets, lies, revenge, and a murder.
-It was an easy, quick read!
- multiple point of views
-suspense for the murder was decent! It kept me intrigued.

What could have been better?
-the characters had very little character development. I didn’t relate or enjoy any of them. It all felt very surfaced level.
- the ending felt flat on certain points; highly unbelievable and I caught myself doing the classic eye roll.

What a fabulous read!! I loved every single page of One of Us is Dead. It was a refreshing read amongst so many thrillers that feel the same nowadays. Jeneva Rose did an excellent job building the world in Buckhead, including its very intriguing circle of rich housewives. Rose wrote in such a lively manner, that I found myself sitting one chair over in Jenny’s salon as a fly on the wall watching the story unfold right in front of me. She tied the different storylines and characters together very neatly, with a juicy and well-thought of ending. I’m a huge fan, and enjoyed this read a lot.

✨ BOOK REVIEW ✨

One of Us Is Dead by Jeneva Rose

Rating: 4/5 stars
⭐️⭐️⭐️️️⭐️️️

(No spoilers!)

Thank you net galley and black stone for this Advanced Reader Copy of One of Us Is Dead!

This was my first read by Jeneva Rose and it will not be my last — the drama and cattiness between the female characters was straight out of an episode of the Real Housewives!

Although I considered this to be more of a fictional read rather than a suspenseful thriller, I was entertained throughout the entire book. I enjoyed reading the multiple perspectives of the main characters, and loved how the story line flip-flopped between the interrogation room and the days leading up to the murder.

I felt as though the ending was a bit rushed, but it was not the outcome I was expecting, which was a nice surprise.

I recommend this book to anyone who would be interested in a fast-paced, lighthearted murder mystery amongst southern rich housewives.

4.5 rounded up!

I loved this book!! I loved the alternating POVs from all the women of Buckland, with the then and now. The drama and cattiness in this book was absolutely insane and perfect. It felt like a reality TV show and I would 100% watch a show or movie adaptation of it! I also did not see the ending coming!

I'll definitely be reading Rose's backlist!

Huge thanks to Netgalley & Blackstone Publishing for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review!

I was so excited to be approved for an early copy of this book and thought I would love it, however I was unable to. It gave Big Little Lies meets the Hunting Wives vibes which I was hoping to enjoy. While the plot and storyline were interesting enough, the writing style portrayed utter laziness in it descriptions and scene setting. Everything was described as "so Buckhead" that it become utterly overused and so distracting I could not finish the book.. "A classic Buckhead building, a Buckhead smile, this was Buckhead." At one point I counted how many times "Buckhead appeared and it was over 12 times in 4% of the book sometimes appearing multiple times on a page. I understand setting the scene and giving your reader a sense of the town, however the overuse of it completely killed this book for me.

I loved this book!! The dynamics between all the characters was perfect. You could see something like this actually play out in real life. Perfect!!
