C.S. Lewis is my favorite, and it is quoted in this book. “True Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it is thinking of yourself less.”
Summary/Review:
“10 Leadership Virtues for Disruptive Times” is highly informative and provides actionable steps that are valuable for everyone, not just those in leadership roles. Tom Ziglar outlines 10 key virtues that help develop stronger coaching skills. Some of these virtues were particularly inspiring, while others served as excellent reminders. With a Christian perspective on leadership, many of the virtues discussed align with Christian principles. Ziglar draws from his own personal experiences to emphasize the importance of these virtues, offering insights based on firsthand knowledge. This book is a great resource not only for leaders but also for those who are being led or coached. I'm grateful for the opportunity to read it and look forward to applying these principles in my own life. Highly recommended!

If you’re looking for fresh insight and strategies for coaching and leading teams, look no further than “10 Leadership Virtues for Transformative Times.” Tom Ziglar takes the reader on a journey through 10 transformational qualities that will help an individual thrive as a leader. As you learn more about the importance of each of these qualities, Ziglar also shares stories of what this looks like in action, and practical feedback on how to enhance this quality in your leadership.
As a leader, I most appreciate the practical advice that I could apply immediately. Ziglar provides questions that you can ask to help support your teams growth and development, which I utilized right away in 1:1 meetings with my direct reports. There are activities you can do with your team to help elicit great ideas and buy- in. One of these activities, called “STICKY” (I won’t give up what the acronym means here so you read the book!), I used right away to help solve a problem we were facing at work. We came up with ideas that helped us think beyond our usual responses, and the team loved the chance to offer feedback and brainstorm solutions on a larger scale issue. There were many more highlights I made throughout this book that I immediately applied to my work with my team, and which I will continue to revisit to enhance my own leadership practices.
Thank you to Nelson Book for the copy that was provided for my review. I will be sure to soak up any future book Ziglar produces.
