This devotional, whether paired up with the songs, or read as a stand alone, is a fantastic addition to anyone's faith library ! Find myself going back to this often, especially when I am having a trying time. A true blessing !
Netgalley gave me an advance-review copy of this book, and I only realized after I received it that it was Christian-based and had been written to accompany the 12th studio album by a Christian contemporary band out of Oklahoma called Mercy Me.
Although the band just celebrated its 20th anniversary, I have never heard their music and am not Christian, so I am definitely *not* the audience for this book -- but I still thought it was inspiring and well-written. The language was direct, authentic and heartfelt. If you are Christian and looking for advice on learning to love yourself, on having faith, on letting go of the past, and taking other sensible self-caring measures, this would be a great book for you. If you are a fan of the band Mercy Me, you will surely love this book. And if you've never heard of Mercy Me, this book might inspire you to go give their music a listen.
Go on the Journey of Breathing In and Out
The members of the contemporary Christian band MercyMe present the devotional "inhale (exhale). A 40-Day Journey of Breathing in Grace and Living Out Hope", published by K-LOVE Books, Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), which accompanies their album "MercyMe". In the introduction they offer a few suggestions to the readers to maximize the experience in using the devotional: 1) Be Intentional, 2) Give Yourself Grace, 3) Choose a Time and a Place, 4) Take in All the Content, 5) Write in a Journal, and 6) Pray, Listen, and Breathe. The various days start with a comment by one of the members of the band before offering a Bible-based message followed by meditation questions. A Bible verse for inhale and a short prayer for exhale can be found between the chapters. The book also contains the lyrics for the songs which are covered in the devotionals. I highly recommend the book for readers who want to spent quality time digging into the topics of Grace and Living Hope. I suggest to buy the hardcover version of the book or keep a journal or notebook on hand if readers are using the digital version in order to be able to answer the meditation questions and to take notes. I recommend also to buy the album in order to be able to listen to the songs presented in the book. It is good to note that this devotional is a workbook, it could be even be used in a group setting, it is not a devotional that readers just can read few in a few minutes.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I received this book from the publisher through Netgalley for review and all thoughts and opinions are my own. I also received a printed edition from Dexterity Books for perusal.
Format is devotional in nature, Forty days of entries with journal spots in which to write. Each entry begins with a story from a band member, a message of encouragement, meditation questions to reflect on, a bible verse to (inhale) and a prayer to (exhale). If you're a fan of MercyMe the band, this book will help you connect with the members through anecdotal story and lyrics. The Bible version is MSG, so geared for readers with minimal biblical understanding. The reflective questions are there to help the reader personally connect with faith.
Light on doctrine, this book focuses on thematic reflection and encouraging words.
I absolutely loved this book! So much so that I've gone out and have purchased for family and friends. This book is what what you need "breathing in Grace and living out hope" Tha k you so much for this book. 💛
I loved this devotional book! It has personal stories, a message, meditation, and you inhale a verse and exhale a prayer. This helped me calm down so many times in these crazy times and this crazy season. Highly recommend this book!!
I think the approach that was taken with this devotional was interesting. I enjoyed it. I do want to continue to journal, and complete the devotional in its entirety, but I ordered a physical copy of the book, and will be completing it within the month of December into the new year. I think the combination of song, scripture, and journaling was a new experience for me, and as someone that enjoys music being an aspect of just about everything I do, it provided a great experience so far. I am looking forward to working through the devotional with my sister this upcoming month.
I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
This devotional you can tell is written from the heart and you can definitely see the impact of their daily lives and how they apply that through songs. It relates to real people in today’s world. Definitely will recommend to others.
Thank you, NetGalley, for an e-ARC of Inhale (Exhale): A 40-Day Journey Breathing in Grace and Living Out Hope by MercyMe.
A simple devotion encourages the reader to find comfort in life's journeys knowing that faith gives hope. Written during the pandemic, MercyMe band members recorded their source for hope in times of confusion. Each day includes personal thoughts, scripture, questions to ponder, and a prayer. The concept of 40 days makes this an excellent book for Lent.

I am reviewing a copy of inhale (exhale) through K-Love Books,Independent Book Publishers Association and NetGalley:
This 40 day devotional experience is inspired by MercyMe’s best-selling album, inhale (exhale) follows the sixteen-track record to create a path for readers to breathe in and absorb God’s grace in their lives.
Inhale exhale is a devotional inspired by MercyMe’s albums of the same name. A 40-Day Journey Breathing in Grace and Living Out Hope follows the sixteen-track record to create a path for readers to breathe in and absorb what God can do, and then release His spirit of grace by offering hope in the world.
You can find the heart of this devotional in two days of entries, an “inhale” day and an “exhale” day, designed to coincide with each song as readers work their way through the album and devotional. Every entry is tied with a particular song and couples those thoughts and lyrics with scripture passages, application questions, meditative verses, prayers, and space to journal.
I give inhale, exhale five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!
