Great book. Mum, boyfriend and her 3 kids are off on an off grid few days away in an off grid yurt. Then disaster strikes and this mum is fighting for her and her kids life.

I was surprised that I enjoyed this book. First from this author for me and worth it. Thanks Netgalley.

Thank you to NetGalley, A.B. Whelan and Burbank books for the free e-book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm really not sure what I expected from this novel after reading the synopsis, but it wasn't this. I really struggled with the beginning of the novel because one of the characters is annoying and whiny, then you really get into the interesting stuff. The only problem is that it gets very very dark and uncomfortable. I found it really hard to read some of the scenes even though I knew there were plenty of trigger warnings. I finished it and was okay with the ending, but honestly I wish I had stopped reading.

Jennifer Parker, her boyfriend (Kyle) and her three children decide to to go camping in the mountains in a Yurt. Kyle researched the place thoroughly and thought it would be an excellent way to bond with the kids. Against her better judgement Jennifer agreed although she knew Kyle wanted to impress her ex-husband and who was a rugged sort of man and enjoyed the outdoors while Kyle was a little bit more refined and soft being a school teacher. They would be staying four or five days without any modern conveniences including no running water and of course no internet and the toilet facilities left a lot to be desired. Needless to say the kids were not excited or happy about this trip but Kyle and Jenn thought they would come around eventually and they did need to get know Kyle better because the couple were thinking of marrying in the near future.

Jenn never expected to feel so isolated and uncomfortable in their alone time and she started to feel as if someone was watching her and noticed strange sounds and footprints nearby their camp. When Kyle and her oldest son went on a hike for and hour and didn't return Jenn knew something was very wrong and set out to find them on her own. Unbeknownst to Jennifer they were never alone on this trip and someone is waiting for Jenn to realize she was never meant to be on this trip with Kyle and she will soon find out that out in these desolate woods "No One Can Hear You Scream!"

This was an unpredictable, chilling and suspenseful story that was very enjoyable while painful to read at times. The story moved slowly at first keeping the reader comfortable until the half-way point and then got very creepy and eerie with a great amount of tension in spots. It was just so terrifyingly good. There were some twists and turns completely unexpected and had me saying "Wow". The characters were so believable and each personality was either likeable or dispicable but they kept me on my toes. Throughout the entire book there was a character that was a mystery until the last few pages which I felt was brilliantly written and kept the suspense going in a subtle way where I almost forgot about them. All I can say is " Well done A.B. Whelan" you definitely, now have a new fan!

Trigger Warnings: Extreme, physical violence, terrifying, sexual violence and graohic animal violence!

I want to thank the publisher "Burbank Books" and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this terrific novel and any thoughts or opinions expressed are unbiased and mine alone!

I highly recommend this terrific book and have given a rating of 4 1/2 RAW AND CHILLING 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌠 STARS!!

ecided to invite themselves along on her vacation…
This was a fast and twisted, edge-of-your -seat page turning thriller that was hard to put down. I travel alone sometimes and this book gave me chills at the full realization of the isolation and terror one can face. Nevertheless, I was instantly captivated by the story and the characters. The action starts in the first chapter and it continues, no holds barred, throughout the rest of the book. The story is time in multiple POVs that added depth and realism, and added to the suspense. Unlike other thrillers I’ve read lately, this one read the most realistic in terms of subject matter and how the characters reacted. I can totally see this book becoming a movie, and I really hope that one is in the works.
There are certain scenes of abuse that might trigger sensitive readers, so take caution.

Wow what a mess. A family goes an a mini vacation into the woods to unplug and all he’ll breaks loose. A quick read with high emotional action and a drive to survive. Hard to read at times but the moms perseverance to overcome and keep her kids alive was amazing. Great read.

Thank you NetGalley for this arc

A...M...A...Z...I...N…G!! This was a dark and disturbing psychological thriller, and I loved every page! I’ve
only read three of Whelan’s books, but they’ve all been 5-star-reads and I was addicted after the first
one. I automatically request her upcoming books as soon as I see them on NetGalley, without reading
the synopsis. She’s that good!

The book starts off with the violent murder of a mini cow named George. I know…I hate animal abuse and murder, too. It also contains scenes of rape and humiliation. If this one is too disturbing for you, try one of her others. She’s an excellent author that I highly recommend!

Jennifer is an influencer, and her life sounds amazing. She’s recently divorced, has three children and a new boyfriend that just moved in with her and her kids. Tyler is younger than her and still living with his mother when they started dating. I wasn’t a big fan. He’s trying to impress her and the kids, and show
off for the ex-husband, so he plans a long weekend away for the family. Four days in Montana spent in a secluded yurt, with no phone service or internet. No one is particularly excited about the trip, especially since Tyler is not a skilled outdoorsman.

I don’t think this trip could have turned out any worse. I’m not a big fan of camping. I like my luxuries…a warm shower, comfy bed, running water, etc. After reading this, I don’t know if I’d feel safe in a secluded cabin, even with all the amenities of home!!

The excitement starts early and the tension stays high the entire time. And....WOW....that ending! What a shocker!

Huge thanks to NetGalley, Burbank Books and A.B. Whelan. I received an ARC and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was abit of a slow burn for me, however around the half way mark, once the family where on their off grid holiday the suspense started to build i was more interested.
Unfortunately towards the end the characters started to irritate me and i struggled to empathise with them

A spine-chilling read! This book was terrifying in every sense of the word. With a plot that makes it seem as though something like this could never happen, the author is so talented with their writing, you can believe something like this could actually happen. A little fast paced and rushed at times, but overall I loved how we had a solid storyline to follow and I do feel like it was wrapped up perfectly.

TW for trauma - verbal, physical and SA.

I really loved this book ! A great psychological thriller about a family going on a vacation, only to find themselves fighting for their lives when they cross paths with a sociopath.

The domestic thriller, where normal people with normal lives have to unite forces and work as a team in order to survive is one of my favourites subgenres.

The story was well written, with a plausible plot, which made this book a total page turner, with lots of action and suspense.
This book reminds us that on the Internet, and particularly social media, you interact with real people, not fictional persons, and that we should be careful about what we share, 'cause you don't really know who's behind the screen...

I totally recommend this book !

Do not read this book late at night, when your home alone and easily scared!!

In saying that I had to finish this book in one sitting and late into the night, and then I wasn't able to fall asleep because everything was making me jump.

Can't wait for the audio version of this!

This book was SO SCARY! Never will I ever book a weekend in a remote mountain yurt, not that I planned to anyway, just now it’s for sure! So, up front I want to offer trigger warnings for animal cruelty, rape, humiliation. It was almost too much for me and I had to skim over some of that. But I hung in there because this is not my first book by this author and I knew she was going to tell a story I wanted to hear. Whelan is masterful at character development as well as spinning a twisty story to keep the reader interested, engaged and wanting to race to a satisfying ending.

Thank you Netgalley and Burbank Books for this eARC in exchange for my honest review. And special thanks to A.B. Whelan for sending me a free download of your book, it’s an honor to review your stories.

Without question the best suspense novel I've read this year. I couldn't put it down once I started reading. I was so engrossed in the story, particularly the events that take place in the yurt, that I stayed up WAY too late reading. I finished it hours ago, but all the events are still sticking with me. I highly recommend this to everyone who enjoys reading suspense.

You and your family are taking a much needed vacation to a remote part of Montana. You’ll be staying in a yurt for a couple of days to relax and be off the grid. Things quickly take a sinister turn when a psychopath invades and holds your family hostage.

This book is a wild ride! It’s pretty much non stop turmoil and will make your skin crawl! Thrilling and nightmarish like watching a scary movie in your head! Just when you think things can’t possibly get worse they do. Highly recommend this book if you like edge of your seat thrillers like I do!

TW: Sexual assault, rape, murder, animal cruelty

Jennifer has a wonderful life. She's an influencer/vlogger, living in a beautiful home with her three children, She and her husband are recently divorced, but still civil and she has a new boyfriend.

The boyfriend, Tyler, is a school teacher and has issues with Jennifer's ex-husband, Tyler is a mama's boy and wants to be seen as macho as the ex-husband. He talks Jennifer and taking the kids for a vacation in Montana ... no running water, no phone reception, just plain roughing-it. Thinking of bears and snakes and the like, she's not real keen on the idea, but wants to support her boyfriend.

(Book Blurb) Alone on the mountain, where no one can hear her scream, Jennifer realizes that it wasn’t the deep, dark woods she had to fear.

Read in one sitting, I found myself sitting on the edge of my chair. Well-written, the plot is riveting, the story line compelling. The author has done a superb job with character development, taking time to introduce each of them along with their foibles. Their interactions are credible ... the fear and angst is palpable. And just when you think things couldn't get worse for the characters ... the author sends it sky-rocketing. There's plenty of action that leads to a hair-raising unexpected conclusion.

Many thanks to the author / Burbank Books / Netgalley for the digital copy of this psychological thriller. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Excellent book!

Recently divorced mother of three Jennifer Parker makes a living being a live vlogger. When her new boyfriend suggests they take a vacation out into the wild with no cell phones, electricity etc she agrees. It's out there that they get attacked by sociopath.

I thought the book was scary. The descriptions of the bad guy are genuinely creepy. The only thing from keeping the book at five stars was I thought the ending was slightly anti-climatic. Although the book overall is great. Great pacing and dialogue.

There are some intense scenes of animal abuse and rape so be aware.

This really wasn't what I was expecting. I was anticipating more of a typical camp/stalker type thriller but to describe this book as merely that would be doing it a terrible injustice. I loved the fact it was very much based in the current reality with vloggers and yurts and such, it was also incredibly relatable and realistic making it all the more terrifying. I was completely swept up in all the twists and turns and all the things that manage to get squeezed into one story line.... but without it seeming like they're just thrown in for shock value or unnecessarily. It all flows beautifully and seems like a natural progression. Anyways, the jist is.... its amazing. Read it!

𝙅𝙚𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙛𝙚𝙧 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙧, a successful YouTube influencer lives her three children. After divorcing her husband, Jennifer is into her new boyfriend, 𝙏𝙮𝙡𝙚𝙧 despite her children’s disapproval.

Tyler suggests going on an off-the-grid vacation in a yurt in Montana, with no cell phone reception and running water for days. Jennifer instantly updates her subscribers about her trip and wants to share everything on the vlog.

But she has no idea one follower sees her vacation as the perfect opportunity to get close to her and act out his twisted and sick fantasies.

Things turn ugly pretty quickly and soon it’s not the woods that frighten her. Told in POVs of Jennifer, her ex husband and Alex, the plot is full of triggers and you might cringe a lot doing the read. So pick this one up only if you’re into psychological and sociopathic characters.

Overall, it’s quick paced and would keep your heart rate up till the end to know what happened with the sociopathic subscriber and a surprising twist in the end.

⚠️: Abuse, murder, violence, assault, animal abuse, blood, guns

This is a cautionary tale…what can happen…may happen…did it happen? This book was sent to me by Netgalley for review electronically…it is one like I have never read before…red herrings…surprises…more surprises…the language is rough…I don’t like that…others might not mind…the dangers of social media are evident…family dynamics…divorce…murder…isolation…stalking…goodness…so, many themes…ideas…this author is u unique in telling a story…I felt like I was on a journey that might never end…by the way the ending…whew…

This book definitely puts "thriller" in psychological thriller! This had me on the edge of my seat with suspense. It stayed with me long after I read the last page. My heart was pounding for the second half of the book as I tried to figure out what was coming next! You might think twice about your next camping trip or post online, but you'll be hooked on this book!
