Nice quick read that immediately kept my attention. I am a big fan of police procedurals and so I really enjoyed it. Would definitely continue with the series to see what happens to Detective Harry Hunter and potentially read more from this author.
Detective Harry Hunter of Miami PD’s homicide squad throws himself into a case no one asked him to solve. Four teenagers from one of Miami’s affluent neighborhoods are murdered on a boat. Another is found in a dumpster. All five of them go to the same school and are on a list of witnesses to another crime. Because he's in bad standing with his boss, Harry is given the task of protecting a possible future victim, but Harry isn’t always known to follow his boss's orders.
This book needs a loud and clear content warning for dealing with rape.
Well-written thriller. I enjoyed this, but I wish I had known from the outset what crime this was about.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy. This is my honest opinion of the book.
Great book! Definitely kept my attention. There were some good twists, some were predictable. The ending left me wanting more!
This was such a great murder mystery book! I liked the wondering on who did this, and how it all ties together at the end. I think the twists were good, although some are predictable. I like the turn of events
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for this complimentary ARC in exchange for an honest review!!
I have only read one other book by Willow Rose and really enjoyed it. This books was no different. It had all the things that avid readers look for in a book - suspense, complex, and great writing. The characters were written beautifully and made you feel as though you knew them your whole life. The suspense in this book builds at just the right times and places to make the read on the edge of their seats. I could not put this book down as I was always wondering what happened next.
This book should 100% be included in your TBR, it is absolutely worth it. I went and purchased a physical copy of this book so that I had a trophy for my bookshelf, it's that good!
This book is a quick read that begins strong but loses momentum as it progresses and ultimately declines towards the conclusion. There were several implausible plot points, such as the control William had over others and the unrealistic manner in which an ICU nurse was kidnapped. Additionally, the ending relies on clues that are not accessible to the reader, making the revelation of the killer confusing and random. Overall, it was a mediocre experience for me and doesn’t entice me to continue with the series.
Thank you to NetGalley and Buoy Media for the chance to review this book. All opinions are my own.
All The Good Girls was a fast paced, roller coaster ride thriller. I thought I had it figured out, but was way off! The cliff hanger at the end was crazy. I will definitely be getting the next book in this series! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!
I’m torn as to what to rate this book. Did I love it, no, did I hate it, also no. More of a - this was a decent read, with a plot twist at the end I certainly didn’t expect, yet the writing wasn’t necessarily my favorite either.
Would I necessarily jump to recommend it to my friends, no. Would I potentially read others in the series, maybe.
Just overall a meh.
Thanks to NetGalley for a chance to review.
Willow Rose's All the Good Girls is a fast paced, edge of your seat thriller that will keep the reader guessing up to the end of the book. The twists and turns throughout the book keep the readers hooked from page one, making them try to figure out mystery after another, each one a more sensitive topic than the last.
All the Good Girls is a book that Ms. Rose dares to defy convention in, for not only does it focus on a rape victim, but also the murders of the victim's witnesses, physical abuse, psychological abuse, and bullying. It also touches on domestic violence, suicide, and inappropriate teacher/student relationships all while being sensitive enough to make sure she does not intentionally trigger her readers.
Ms. Rose uses fear throughout the entire book as a form of motivation. Fear for the characters in that they "don't kmow where their daughter is". Fear in that the one tthey love has been injured and they don't know if they're going to make it. She also uses Fear on the readers, making them afraid something is going to happen or has already happened to a character the reader has grown attached to and can't bear to see anything else happen with.
Readers who are easily triggered are cautioned to be wary with the this book, just as they should be with many of Ms. Roses books, but if they are able to deal with a few trigger points as they read, the readers are in for one heck of a ride! Dozens of twists and turns, and even more loop de loops to make the readers heads spin are found inside this roller-coaster of a story.'
All the Good Girls is a thriller and the first in the Harry Hunter series.
Lucy just wanted to stay out at the beach party a little later than usual. Then her dad gets a call that she has been sexually assaulted and now Lucy is missing. Four girls from Lucy’s class have been murdered on a boat they took out to have a good time on and another girl’s body has been found in a dumpster.
Harry Hunter is a homicide detective who is tasked with babysitting William, the next potential victim, but also the one accused of raping Lucy and found not guilty. Harry is given a lot of leeway due to his wife, Camille, being in a coma from a drug overdose but pushes this leeway as far as he can. William seems to have a hold on many people in the community and Harry knows there is a deeper story there.
When Harry takes his eye off the ball to check on something while meant to be babysitting, another person dies. Now in trouble with the boss even more, Harry needs to redeem himself. But the killer could be coming after Harry or his family next...
This is a really quick read and starts off well but falls in the middle and continues downhill to the end. First off, Harry gives out Jack Reacher vibes. Big guy, soft spot for the underdog, prepared to go vigilante, and knows people off the grid who are experts in certain things. So it was hard to see him as a character in his own right. I did appreciate his back story with Camille and his sister as well as his love for his daughter, Josie.
What I struggled with were implausible scenarios like the control William had over others and the ability someone had to kidnap an ICU nurse in the manner they did. Plus the ending is pieced together by clues the reader is not privy to, so when the killer is revealed it is confusing.
The writer tends to use long-winded sentences that sometimes detract and can be confusing by the time you get to the end of the sentence. It was an average read for me and one that does not make me want to continue the series.
Many thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to review the book.
Pretty good! Not my favorite Willow Rose character but Harry is an interesting character with his own demons to fight! I wish it was longer!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!
A year ago Lucy made a decision to go to prom, which changed the course of her life. When she was brutally beaten and raped by a fellow student, William Covington all she wanted was justice. But with William’s reputation and knack for blackmail all the witnesses said the tragic event never happened. But when three of the witnesses end up murdered in a boat and a fourth one found in the water all fingers are pointed towards Lucy. When detective Hunter is assigned security detail on William, he knows something about the murders seems fishy. Can he piece together all the clues before more of the witnesses end up dead?
Overall rating 5/5
For Freida McFadden fans this is a suspenseful page turner with an incredible cliffhanger. I audibly gasped during the last few chapters. I cannot wait to find out what is in store for Detective Hunter in the next installment.

I've read some of Willow Rose's books before, The Detective Billie Ann Wilde series which have been released in early 2024. So I was looking forward to reading All The Good Girls. Taking into consideration this book was originally published/released in 2020 and the first book in the Harry Hunter series ( 7 book in total ) I really enjoyed this fast paced police protocol mystery thriller. I thought it was well paced and didn't really let up. Like a wind up car and it just keeps going under its own momentum. I would say that this book is mainly plot driven but Im also intrigued to pick up the rest of the series as there is enough character base of Harry to pull my interest. This book maybe not as well defined and complex as the recent series Ive picked up. Its still a great quick read.
I did also listen to a snippet of the audio version which is narrated by Christopher Romance. He did a great job narrating this book with his very upbeat tone which suited the pace of the book.
3.5 rounded to 4 for Netgalley/Amazon/Waterstones
