This is a great book for kids about loving who you are and learning that more than one person can be the ugliest monster in the world.

The Ugliest Monster in the World by Luis Amavisca is a fun, slightly irreverent, and playful story. The story itself might be a bit simplistic, but the whimsy and goofiness of it will delight younger audiences.

Thank you to the Publisher Spotlight and NetGalley for the electronic review copy of this cute book. This is a story about some monster friends who are trying to decide who is the ugliest monster in the world. Quite honestly, they’re all adorable, but the monsters decided that all of them get the title of the ugliest monster in the world. I would recommend this book for the youngest readers.

The monsters were charming and the illustrations were cute, overall a bit of a silly story. We enjoyed it!

There's not much to this story - some monsters compete to be the ugliest. (Sorry, guys, you're all ADORABLE!) But, I suspect younger kids will LOVE it.
The bright, bold illustrations by Erica Salcedo made me absurdly happy.
It's just a fun, silly book.

The description makes it sound like the book has some sort of moral or lesson or conclusion. Nope. It’s very short and silly and I’m sure for the littlest of kiddos, it would be a fun quick read, but I don’t see a use for it in my kindergarten classroom.

This book is cute, don’t get me wrong but it was super shot and didn’t really have a point, just silly for the sake of being silly (which is okay! Just wasn’t what I was hoping for)
What I will say is the art is absolutely fabulous. I adored the illustrations, and would definitely keep and eye out for more work by this artist.

The illustrations are the highlight of this story about some silly monsters who try to convince one another that each is the ugliest. The monsters get increasingly ridiculous in their attempts to outdo the others in "ugliness". The irony is that they're all pretty cute.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for this ARC in exchange for my review.

This is a Children's book that I read to my twin boys. My boys found this book funny. I found this book to be just ok, and I wanted more for the book. I found the pictures to be ok. This is a funny and cute story, but I just wish it did a little more. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (NubeOcho) or author (Luis Amavisca) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Three monsters compete to see who is the ugliest monster in the world. There are plenty of giggles along the way and lots of humor. Kids will love the bright, colorful illustrations and the lively text will be great fun for a circle time book. Pick this up for a high-energy, enjoyable read for pre-K kids!
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
