As always with a book from Lynette Eason- this book was a fantastic read! And as always, all else was abandoned until I finished this book. I really loved the characters, I thought the dialog was great and believable and it had a strong storyline that kept you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. I really enjoyed this book.
Wow, what an action-packed story to start the new reading year, 2022. This grabbed my attention right away and I have been reading every chance I have had for the past couple of days.
Holt and Penny are two intense characters with bravery, intelligence, secrets and human weaknesses too. The plot is really intense. I love a story that is filled with suspense, and which proves a good read can be told without crude language. It has twists and turns, even a gruesome shadow that follows along. The author was able to surprise me.
I am intrigued that this is the start of a new series and I look forward to each book that is ahead. I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for my advanced reader's copy. I like a solid story I can get caught up in.
Wow. Life Flight will send you in a crazy ride. Ups and downs, twists and turns. And when you think it’s over, it’s really just begun. I love this author and the amazing novels she writes. You definitely need to read this one.
Lynette Eason knows how to build suspense - and romance - in her latest novel, Life Flight. This book, about a Medivac helicopter pilot, an FBI agent, and a serial killer out to kill them both, builds suspense multiple times and is very hard to put down. I loved the characters and the story she writes for them. And now I want to read the other books in this new series!

Book 1 in a new series by Lynette Eason. Fantastic beginning to a new series. This one left me eager for the rest of this series. Fast paced almost from the get-go.
Penny is an EMS pilot. She loves her job, loves knowing she had a part in saving lives.
The other main character is Special Agent Holt Satterfield, who has been dating Penny, when their schedules allow.
Penny is forced to land on the side of a mountain while transporting a young girl. Did I mention a crazy storm, also? AND...a serial killer on the loose in the area?
As for the serial killer, Rabor, oh my goodness! Definitely scary dude. He rates up there with the well known serial killers.
This is one you won't hardly be able to put down.
I was given a complimentary copy by the publisher, Revell through Netgalley. I was under no obligation to leave a positive review.
Hold on just a second, I need to catch my breath. <deep breath in, deep breath out> Seriously, I was holding my breath for about half of this book. I had to keep telling myself to breathe. From the very first page, I am in the middle of an emergency situation and it's scary. Not scary enough that it can't get worse. Because it does. And then, what? Scary squared. This was nonstop, action packed, no breathing type of storytelling. And I was ALL. IN. From the beginning to the end. Invested. Because of this, I read through this story in a day. It couldn't be helped. There was no way I was leaving Penny and Holt in dire circumstances in my mind. Nope.
Penny and Holt are heroes if ever there were any. Human and dealing with the nasty stuff life throws at them, but heroes. I liked them so much.
I'm so glad this is the start to a new series. I can't wait to read the next book!
Content: violence, death, peril. Kissing.
- I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
I found this new title from Eason a tad bit too creepy for my tastes. We were also dropped into an existing relationship between the two main characters which felt confusing and as if we were missing a previous novel or novella.
It decidedly had a unique plot: "Hey family member, listen to the crazy thing that happened next in this book!"
This was my first time reading this author. Really enjoyed the book and didn't want to put it down. Looking forward to read more of her work.
WOW... What A Ride!... blew me away… The narrative grabs the reader by the throat and doesn't let you breathe until the end… I read this book in one sitting. I stayed up until midnight devouring the action A unique story.
Life Flight by Lynette Eason is a suspenseful adventure featuring an FBI agent and a helicopter life flight pilot. From dangerous rescues to a serial killer on the loose, this book has a lot of suspense and keeps your attention well. Readers will love the interesting characters and backstories. I found the plot a bit predictable but it really did not interfere with my enjoyment of the book. Overall, it was a great read. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
This author’s books tend to be hit or miss for me, either I’m raving about them or struggling to get through. Somehow this book was a little bit of both.
The suspense angle and villain were exceptionally done. Intriguing and dark but not pushing the creepy too far for me. I was invested in all the aspects of the hunt for the serial killer the entire time.
The characters themselves were great but the romance angle is kind of where this fell apart for me because there really wasn’t any. They had had some previous interactions and continued to have moments together throughout the story but there was no chemistry or spark. They felt like two people involved in a case together. Not saying that they didn’t work as a couple, because I could see how they’d be compatible, but nothing that was on the page screamed “these people are romantically involved.”
I was also a little confused about the inclusion of the stuff with the hero’s sister. I don’t know why we needed another whole crime to be on the back burner throughout, and the guy was being an absolute idiot not telling the girl about what was going on while at the same time being mad that she hadn’t told him things about her past-major eye-roll moment.
I did overall enjoy reading this book though and the small problems I had with things were never enough to make me question finishing the book. Overall I think this will be a hit with fans of this author and I’m curious about future books in the series.
Penny knows how to handle dangerous situations, but when she finds herself on top of a mountain with danger all around her, it put her to the test. She makes it through this situation , but continues to find herself in danger. What was thought to be true is now under review and her life is on the line.
A very suspenseful read, look forward to what happens next.
Highly recommended! Well thought out and very well executed.Thank you for the opportunity to review this story.
I'm always excited to read a book by Lynette Eason and Life Flight was no exception. It kept me up late into the night not wanting to put it down. Penny Carlton is an EMS pilot and when she lands her damaged chopper on a mountain she soon finds that a serial killer is also out in the wild. Holt Satterfield is the FBI agent on the hunt for the killer. The twists and turns that this book takes to reach it's surprising conclusion are exciting and thrilling. I can't wait to read the next in the series!
Hold on to your seats as this high octane read takes off from the first page and does not let up throughout. Penny and Holt have their assignments cut out for them especially when threats to their lives continue.
Penny is an EMS helicopter pilot, and her job is to get the rescue team to the injured. She sees this job as her calling after a tragic accident took her sister's life years ago. She also has quite a high profile past that she is really reluctant to share with anyone, understandably.
Holt is an FBI agent who is on the hunt for an escaped serial killer who once tried to kill him. Not only that but he also has some family issues that he is reluctant to talk about with anyone.
Penny and Holt are somewhat in a relationship before the start of this book. So, as they help each other out and watch one another's backs, they are also trying to have more of a couple time. However, life keeps working against them and just trying to have a simple conversation sometimes proves impossible. I liked how even though they were in serious danger, they still kept living and hoping for a future, especially with one another.
And then there was the surprises they got with a very creepy serial killer. He is not someone to mess with and he has his sights set on them. This was a pretty intense read with some creepiness going on in the background that had me wanting to check my house more than once.
I was provided a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
Penny Carlton is a helicopter ambulance pilot who gets caught up in the investigation when a serial killer escapes from a nearby prison. Holt Satterfield is her ex-boyfriend, and leading the search for the killer.
I found the opening chapters of Life Flight an awkward combination of annoying and thrilling.
Thrilling, because they are fast-paced and placing the characters in a life and death situation (yes, the clue is in the title). But annoying, because of the situation they’d been placed in—forced to undertake a rescue in bad weather, and without a satellite phone to communicate with. The phone issue was resolved (but even the resolution left a loose end), but it still left me wondering if these characters were competent.
There were also a couple of frustrations as the story progressed. For example, if a serial killer who is known to use disguises disappears into a stairwell, wouldn’t it make sense to check everyone who exits the stairwell i.e. don’t ignore people just because they’re not dressed the same as the killer? (Yes, I wanted the good guys to win even if I wasn’t convinced they deserved to.)
You may wonder why I’m sharing these moans, given I enjoyed the book overall. It’s because these are the things I would have liked to have known before I read the book. I find it much easier to ignore issues that pull me out of the story or force me to suspend disbelief if I know the issues in advance … because then I’ve made the decision in advance to not be annoyed by the problems.
I enjoyed the will-they-won’t-they chase to catch the serial killer before he found his next victim … especially once it became obvious Penny was going to be the next victim. I liked the fact Life Flight was clearly Christian fiction. Holt and Penny are both Christians who believe God is in control and seek to follow Him. If a novel is categorised as Christian fiction, then I want to see that play out in the characters. They did in Life Flight, which is a definite positive.
Overall, I did enjoy Life Flight, and I’ll look forward to reading the next book in the series.
Thanks to Revell Books and NetGalley for providing a free ebook for review.
This book really kept me turning pages….hard to put down!
Penny is a female Life Flight Pilot, who becomes involved with FBI agent Holt while doing her job as they encounter a serial killer while on a medical call. Well-written and realistic dialogue keeps you engaged in the story as situations develop along with (slowly!) their relationship. Anyone who enjoys romantic and legal suspense would like this book.
I received this book from the publisher via net galley in exchange for an honest review.
I've long been a fan of Eason's work, and was thrilled to read her latest! I'm so excited about this series and loved reading about Penny and Holt! And wow, Eason writes some of the most terrifying villains and this one is no exception, which made this high-octane action packed story all the more thrilling!
This story starts in the thick of things! It opens into an intense action scene, and in time we begin to see the suspense set in and a Slow-Burn Romance start to build! I loved the faster pace of this story, and felt that the slowly romantic elements in this one were well done and fit perfectly with this story!
I'm excited to read more of this series! I love Eason's writing style and really enjoyed reading this one!
Get ready for a thrilling chase that takes flight to extreme measures. What starts out as a rescue mission turns into a serial killer on the loose with a bizarre 'Tea for Two' fixation. His victims are frozen in time and he's serving up his next victim.
When Penny catches of the killer's eye, her life is on the line. Will her friends be able to save her or will Penny left in fight or flight mode?
Lynette Eason pens stories that keep readers on the edge of their seat. Her characters overcame challenging pasts and their faith gets them through difficult times. Thank you to #NetGalley for the opportunity to read #LifeFlight in exchange for an honest review. It's a race to the finish and readers will find themselves immersed in the action rooting for Penny's team to succeed.
FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book. These are my honest thoughts.
Life Flight kicks off the Extreme Measures series in superb, hang-on-to-your-hat fashion. With a plethora of twists I didn’t see coming and a creepy villain who belongs on Criminal Minds, this book kept me on the edge of my seat and flipping pages at a furious pace. One of my friends told me the shockers kept coming in this one, and having that proven true was spectacular. Sometimes Eason’s baddies are predictable to me (though I still love all the books of hers that I’ve ever read), but this one… oh man, were these baddies twisted and surprising, and, yes, the shockers kept coming until the very end.
It was really fun to have an EMS helicopter pilot who loved doing renovation work on her house as the main character. Penny Carlton was hardworking and smart as a whip, but she had moments of fear and weakness too. She was a great role model for readers, because of this complexity that made her totally realistic.
Holton Satterfield, the leading man, was a gentleman throughout, but I loved that he showed his instinct to protect the women he cared about, whether girlfriend or sister. Once again, we have a great role model. This guy displayed real masculinity that every guy ought to try to emulate. He was brave, courageous, not afraid to admit when he was wrong (though there was a battle of his will on that at first, which is natural and was well written), and chivalrous. This type of man is exactly what the world needs right now.
I wish I could talk about the twists, but that would spoil the story for other readers. Suffice to say that my jaw dropped on more than one occasion. My mind was blown on at least three of the plot twists, and that delighted me to no end. It’s yet to be known if this Extreme Measures series will surpass the Women of Justice trilogy as my favorite Eason series so far, but it has a greater chance of taking that top slot than all the series in between—and there have been quite a few great ones.
High stakes were present from page one, but they skyrocketed with each new turn of the journey. Closing the book when I had to work one of my jobs was difficult. This is the exact type of story I love reading, and I’m glad there are going to be more installments soon. Not soon enough for my taste, but I understand it takes time to write a novel. The next book, Crossfire, just rocketed to the top of my most-anticipated list.
My favorite thing about this book, as with all other Eason novels, is that the author showed how God overcomes the evil of the world. Evil may have its day, but it doesn’t win in the end; God does. That was such a beautiful thing to see unfold, and it’s true in real life too. This exquisite thread was a joy to witness.
The way that family and friends were woven in for both Penny and Holton was lovely. I enjoyed the high stakes involved with these interesting connections. I can hardly wait to see how similar things are done for Penny’s friends as well. I hope their backgrounds prove to be just as wonderful and complicated and heartbreaking as Holton’s and Penny’s were. Yet another reason I can hardly wait for the next book to arrive!
