In true Merida fashion, an epic adventure awaits.

Maggie Stiefvater has a wonderful eye for the paranormal and has written some of my favorite books in the past. I was excited to hear of this book and Stiefvater's involvement.

Merida is strong willed, and that trait plays throughout the story, but her wild heart can't be tamed. I love her wild heart. It is what moved the story forward and draws me into her character.

This story is more than misadventure and mending of relationships. This story is about finding one's self. Love and respect. Doing what is right. I loved it and this book is another win in Stiefvater's pocket. If you are a fan of this author and also the amazing Merida, then you need to read this book.

One year to save your family; help them to become better people to save the land. That pretty much sums this book up.

Initially, this story was really hard to get in to. I love the movie and it took me while to separate the two – finding out later that this was tied to the original story, but years later. It fun to see the triplets grown up and get to know their characters a little more. Merida really rubbed me the wrong way at the beginning. For someone trying, to save her family she really as annoying, pushy, and had a bad attitude. The tie in with the gods was interesting and I really enjoyed the ending.

Thank you Netgalley and Disney Press for this ARC. I think my students will really enjoy this extension to the original story.

I absolutely love BRAVE and was so excited to read this! I’m so glad to say I ended up enjoying this quite a bit! Although this is a “sequel” to Brave, this was definitely a more serious book. I really enjoyed this author’s writing style. I had such a fun time with these Disney characters!

Disclaimer: I was sent a free book and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

I will admit the thing that drew me to this book was that it was about Merida. I have always loved her because she was a strong princess. I loved she was fearless, brave, and knew her own mind. So of course to revisit her castle and kingdom was a joy.

What I didn't expect was to get caught up in another of her adventures. As is Merida's habit she finds herself on another adventure this one could cost her everything she loves.

Without giving too much away I can honestly say this book was a page-turner for me. It was full of adventure, suspense, and of course a great moral. One we should all head. When one sets out to change something or someone be sure to look within first because sometimes the thing that needs changing the most is ourselves.

Rich descriptions, a story that grabs the reader with magic and a sort of living world feeling. I love it. Maggie's take on this tale will not disappoint. A beautiful writing style that does not hinder the reading moving quickly through the story. You want to jump right into this one at times.

A continuation of written by an author I love, heck yes! I do enjoy a good re-telling, continuation or gender flip so i naturally gravitated towards Bravely. It felt like the vibe of the movie but on a greater scale. All the ambiance and characters that were originally beloved, but with Maggie Stiefvater's writing and style.
I loved it. It was perfect for a rainy weekend day. A enjoyable read with the perfect amount of disney magic and the amazing addition of Maggie's writing to bring the story to life.

The threat of ruin and the hope for renewal. Two gods of old Scotland strike the balance between these opposing forces when challenging Merida to save her family in this perfectly paced YA fantasy adventure. Maggie Striefvater’s Bravely is very good and will be the perfect fit for dreamy, strong willed ten year old up through middle aged dreamers.
ARC provided from NetGalley. This book will be published on May 22, 2022.

Bravely is a solid continuation of the world building and characters set up in the film Brave. I really enjoyed the story and additions to the world building. I didn't mind the author's writing style, at times it was very atmospheric, but often I found the descriptions to be very lengthy and it put me in a reading slump. Overall though, this was a good fantasy adventure.

As a Disney lover, I completely devoured this book. I loved returning to the world of Brave. Merida is still the strong, feisty princess that we all love, but now I feel as if more depth has been added to her character. I predict this retelling to be a big success!

Alright, this is going to be a quick one, so I am sorry about this. I honestly didn't know what I was getting into, and when I realized it was Merida from Brave, I lost interest. But I did finish the book, like I always do, and TBH I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed this. it was fun and everything a retelling teen novel needed

Loved this so much. It started out a little slow but I knew good things were to come because it's Maggie Stiefvater, and she did not disappoint. Beautiful writing, touching theme, very satisfying read.

Imaginative tale of a princess trying to find her way in the world. She makes a deal with a god declaring that changes would be made to her stagnant kingdom or it would be destroyed.

The cover of this book is gorgeous and I was totally sold on there being a continuation of Merida's story as I feel like she is a pretty underrated character. However, I did not love this near as much as I had hoped. I did think it was an entertaining read and loved the mythology integration, but I think I was getting a bit hung up on trying to connect the original characters to their counterparts in this story. I may have enjoyed it more without the added association. I also found it a bit lacking in substance. While it isn't without its flaws, I still thought it was a fun read.

I really loved the characters here. The movie is so much fun, and I feel like the complexity of each individual really got to take center stage in this story, though it also felt a little bit less funny and more introspective than the film. I think it will be an easy book to booktalk because of the hook: 1 year to save her home=adventure. And for the right reader I might get more into the quieter heart of the story about family and growing up and change.

Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC of this novel. 3/5 stars.

Ugh. The cover is STUNNING (hello, Charlie Bowater cover) and I love love love love Brave, so I was super excited for this 'sequel' but I just...couldn't get into it. I read it. I appreciated it. But...I didn't really feel like it did a whole lot for Merida. Especially in the end when she's like "hmmm yeah I didn't really change" and then uncanonically gave her a broken heart (that's as nonspoilerly as I can get). I do appreciate that we got more about Elinor and Fergus and the triplets...but that's about it. Merida didn't feel like the Merida I loved in Brave. I understand that this takes place a few years after...but Merida was such a force to be reckoned with and she just felt, I don't know, flat?

Good to read if you just want some scottish folktales and Merida in your life though.

As someone who really loved Brave the film. This whole story felt so out of character for Merida and I don’t think stievater should’ve been the one to write it.

Merida has grown since we saw her in the movie Bravely. Her triplet brothers have grown also. However she discovers one night that growth doesn’t always mean change. As Merida tries to change the fate of her kingdom by changing her family members, she learns a lot about growth, herself, and her family.
I hadn’t tried any of these Disney books before but I love Maggie Stiefvater. She did not disappoint, either. In fact, I felt it was the perfect mix of backstory from the movie and new character development. Setting it several years after the movie helped too. The pace slowed in some places but it picks back up. My very favorite part is the change Harris goes through.
This book will be great for reluctant readers who are fans of the movie Brave, fantasy, and who love stories of families and empowerment.

This was a good story, whether you are a fan of Brave or not. I think my students would really enjoy it and will be purchasing a copy for the library

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for granting me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest reviewm

Bravely is a YA sequel to Disney’s movie Brave. I have never seen the movie Brave, so I did not know any of the characters and was a bit lost. I had to go back and reread several times to figure out who was who.

I guess perhaps if you were a fan of the movie you might enjoy this book more than I did. It truly is more for younger people rather than adults. It belongs in the tween group,

It lacked a serious plot a substance. Not one I would recommend for the young adult group. You be the judge.
