Perfect ending to this series! The author kept me guessing all the way to the end of the book! I love how she tied up all the loose ends and brought the characters full circle. A thrilling chase--this book will keep your blood pumping and keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this series for suspense and thriller lovers.
I have read the other “US Marshals” books in this clean, romantic suspense series and have enjoyed all of them! I am sad to see this series end with this book.
Fast paced, thrilling characters and story line that kept me on the edge of my seat and guessing. I liked reading Jonas and Madison’s friendship and then relationship, develop over the course of this series and them solving cases together. I feel like they worked well together with trusting the other’s skills and instincts. I can’t say enough good things about this author and series. If you enjoy Christian suspense with lots of action, then check her out!
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
Since it was my first time reading from its author, I wasn’t sure what to expect from The Catch. But speaking as a fan of Hallmark’s Hailey Dean Mysteries, The Catch turned out to be a remarkable novel that I really enjoyed reading. In her third release of the US Marshals series, Lisa Harris pens a tangled mystery that immediately draws the reader into the who and what of its story. Like really, the first few pages started off with scenes so intense that I had to restrain myself from skipping to the end to find out what really happened/what would happen next!
Maybe it’s just me, but I think a good mystery needs complex characters. Those types of characters are that special something that keeps a story from being cliché and predictable.
Deputy US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn were just that; complex. They kept me guessing as they raced to discover the truth of the cases assigned to them, while at the same time finding closure with mysterious truths from their past. The pace felt just right, which allowed me to fully connect with the plot. Although I wasn’t too thrilled with the romantic aspect, It did add a special sweetness to the storyline. I’ll have to admit that I didn’t realize that this novel was part of a series before I read it, so it was hard trying to fit the missing pieces of the backstories of some of the characters together (probably why I didn’t connect with the romance). Despite that, The Catch was perfect as a standalone –
But I definitely plan on reading the first two novels just to get a better understanding of novel #3, as well as get the whole picture of this series.
Special thanks to Revell for providing a free copy for my honest review. All thoughts expressed are my own.
I loved this series by Lisa Harris. I loved how she took us from the very beginning of Madison James story and tied everything up with a pretty bow. I am only giving this book 4 stars though because I did find it to be a little anticlimactic. All of the loose ends were tied up but I found it to be a little rushed and wanted more.
This series has been an amazing ride and this book was the perfect conclusion!
I loved how the author balanced the conclusion to the mystery behind who had killed Madison’s husband with the new case of trying to find a missing woman and baby. It never felt like there was too much going on and I was invested in both outcomes! There were countless twists and turns as well as plenty of page turning action that kept me hooked into the story and reading as fast as I could!
Jonas and Madison have been fantastic characters throughout the whole series and their slow burn romance has been building with expert timing and it was so fun to finally see them get together!
In short I completely enjoyed this book and highly recommend the whole series!
The Catch is the third book in Lisa Harris’ thrilling US Marshals series. I would definitely recommend reading the first two books before reading this one. I had read the first two books when they first came out and actually wish I had reread them before reading The Catch because there were many details I couldn’t remember.
This was a thrilling conclusion to the series. I loved how there were two unique storylines happening at the same time. Firstly you had the storyline with Ava and the baby. There were so many different things happening in this story that I couldn’t put the book down. I needed to know that everyone was okay.
The second storyline was the continuing story that has been thread through all 3 books. This was another exciting plot with twists and turns that I did not expect.
There was so much to love about this book, with some great themes and faith messages as well as the romance aspect of the story coming to a head.
I really enjoy Lisa Harris’ writing and I am sure you will too. If you haven’t read the rest of this series, then you should add them to your TBR today.
Fast paced engaging murder mystery with a great backstory. Readers of murder mysteries will enjoy this book.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters Madison and Jonah, their budding romance, and all of the mystery and suspense. All things I love in a book as well as it being a clean romance. I highly recommend it!
Super amazing end to a super amazing series!
The Catch is packed with so much action, an incredible amount of twists and turns, and the most wonderful, if somewhat broken, characters you could ever wish to fall in love with!
Highly recommend to anyone who loves romantic suspense by Lynette Eason or Natalie Walters!
A huge thanks to the publisher! I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Book 3 in Lisa Harris' US Marshals series is an adrenaline rush from start to finish. Since the main characters are the same in all three books, I would recommend reading the books in order: The Escape, The Chase, The Catch.
Madison James jumps at the chance to get back to her job with the US Marshals when she and her partner, Jonas Quinn, are given the assignment of finding a missing woman and child. Recovering from being shot in her home by an unknown assailant, Madison's memory has been blank but physically she wants her life back. When an attempt is made on a judge's life, then his wife is found dead in their home, clues lead to an even more explosive truth than they were expecting to find. The missing woman is in witness protection, hiding from a mobster that her testimony could put away for life. Can they find her before the mob does? As they close in on their quarry, are the gunshots, and accidents aimed at the woman they're searching for, or is Madison the real target?
Once again, Lisa Harris brings a fantastic story to the pages of her book. I like that Madison keeps searching for answers - to her husband's murder, and to her own gunshot wound - even when most people would shrink away from knowing. There are so many twists in this story that it was hard to tell who the good guys really were, but Madison and Jonas are more than capable in their roles as Marshals to handle whatever comes at them. I also liked the touch of romance that develops between Madison and her partner, Jonas.
Readers who like romantic suspense that keeps "turning the screws" until the reader hardly knows who to root for anymore will love this series. I didn't read them in order, as I haven't read The Escape yet, but I'm going to be going back and catching up on how this series started!
The US Marshals series by Lisa Harris ends with a great one. Her stories never disappoint and The Catch is no exception. Fast-paced, so many secrets, lies… but ultimately justice is served. Recommended.
This is the third and I think final book in Ms. Harris' US Marshall's series. I would highly suggest reading the other two books first as it will help you to know more about Madison and Jonas. There are three plots running through this book one is a murder of a judge's wife that leads into a kidnapping, another is the kidnapped is also trying to hide from some pretty bad people and thinks they found her, and the last one is Madison finally finding out who shot her husband and herself. With all these things happening it is pretty non-stop go go go. I enjoyed the story and happy for a HEA for the two MC's we have grown to love over the series.
I was excited to finish reading Lisa Harris’ US Marshals series: the series so far has been building up to this book and I was looking forwards to seeing how the whole story resolved!
I liked the premise of this book a lot: it was different from a lot of the standard Christian fiction books, and that made it really interesting. There was a lot of fast paced action scenes: chases, manhunts, kidnapping, etc., and that kept me reading the book. I really liked the commentary about people who become indebted to others for their survival, and the ability for those in power to abuse that position easily. What looked like an infidel man in power and his money-fueled schemes turned into a kidnapped woman and child, a manhunt, and the lives of many at stake.
The storyline that’s been building throughout the series resolved with less fanfare than I would have liked: I thought that there would be a huge reveal of that thread but it seemed rushed and half-hearted, which was disappointing.
Honestly, at the end of the series, Madison and Jonas’ relationship is just . . . fine. They don’t have any particular chemistry (not the “lighting flared between their touch”) kind of chemistry, just . . . any sort of chemistry really that made me want to cheer for them as a couple.
One thing to note is that there are a lot more sexual references in this book than in the average Christian fiction book. Primarily, this is due to the fact that the premise of the main story is based off of a man having an affair with a woman other than his wife, and the consequences of that affair, so there are a lot of references to extramarital activities.
All in all, I think this book was good, if not particularly memorable. It was very fast paced, which made it easy for me to want to keep reading, but there was also not anything particularly memorable about this book I’ll remember about it in a year. I was disappointed by the resolution of the series-long arcs, but the story from this particular book was good.
Awesome conclusion!
This series was amazing from start to finish. I loved the main characters of Madison and Jonas. The mystery and suspense was great throughout the series. This is the third and final book in the series, and brings closure to some of the storyline that was left unanswered in the first two books.
There were definitely some surprise twists added. This series is a must read!
Amazing! I loved it so much. This series has been so fenominal. I love that we get the same characters throughout this whole thing. I love watching them develop and change.
Highly recommend.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own *
The Catch by Lisa Harris is a brilliantly written book. I have found this author to be a consistently solid author and this novel is no exception. Honestly, this novel will absorb your attention from the very first page and make you keep questioning what you know to be true. The suspense in this novel is second to none and the romantic elements are seamlessly woven into the story. If you are not a fan of this author’s books, you will be after reading this novel. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
This is the last book in the conclusion to the US Marshalls series. Throughout this series, Madison has been trying to determine who killed her husband. By the end of this book, readers will know who that person is. This book focuses on finding a woman and a child after a judge’s wife ends up murdered. Madison and Jonas continue to work together to find out what happened while working on their personal relationship as well. This is a stunning conclusion to this series! I highly recommend this book and know you will not be disappointed!
***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, I have purchased her books before.
US Marshal Madison James has been through alot, she lost her husband Luke 5years ago and the person who killed him has never been identified let alone caught. Which has kept Madison on edge the past 5 years. But she has used that anger, hurt and frustration to catch as many criminals as possible and to help in the continuing search for Luke's killer. The other major heartache is her father's diagnosis of Alzheimer. She and her sister have had to adjust to the changes in him as the disease progresses. They will need to decide what home to put him in as he requires more care than they are able to give.
US Marshal Jonas Quinn just returned from SOG ( Special Operations Group) training. He has not seen Madison for over a month and he could not wait to catch up. They are good as partners on the job but Jonas would really like to see if there could be more between them. His friend Tucker has pointed out a few times that he should just admit to himself that he is in love with Madison. But Jonas told her that he would give her the space she needs. When they are both tapped to look for a woman and a child who have disappeared, they put everything into the rescue of them. While they are working this case Madison starts to realize that her feelings for Jonas are changing, growing deeper. And She decides to share her feelings with Jonas and when he asks her out on an "official" date, she responds with a resounding YES!
Thank you, Lisa Harris, for allowing me to be one of your early readers. This was a wonderful story and I hope there may be book 4 at some point.
I very much enjoyed this book. It was well written with well crafted characters. It was not formulaic and held my attention through till the end.
As Madison and Jonas work to protect a judge from a gang that wants him dead, they are drawn into an investigation of his wife's murder. When the suspect's young son disappears, things get, well, complicated. Is the suspect innocent or guilty? Who kidnapped her son, and why? And can they recover him before it's too late? Meanwhile, Madison begins to suspect that the person who killed her husband may still be watching her and threatening her and those she cares for. Should she let Jonas get close, or will doing so merely endanger his life too? With all these threats surrounding them, will any of them make it out alive?
It's possible that I would have enjoyed this more if I'd read the whole series, because there were clearly parts of the storyline that followed on from previous books. However, I didn't feel that I was missing critical information, so I don't think it was a real problem. My main concern was that there felt like too many intertwined threats, which honestly felt a little over the top to me. However, I did still enjoy the story and particularly watching Madison develop and learn to overcome her past. The relationship between Jonas and Madison was also well done, and it was good to see resolution of each part of the story. All in all, not my favourite but still a good read.
Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.
