Loved the vibes in this one, it was definitely more of a summer read but reading it now didn't take away any of the enjoyment :) The writing was pretty simple but communicated the feelings it needed to, the characters were well fleshed out (which I really appreciate in books), and it made me laugh to myself a couple times. I got to say I didn't feel like the plot was very strong here, it felt more character driven, which I know probably won't be a problem for a lot of people. What I couldn't get myself to like though was the love triangle/more than one love interest trope which I've disliked almost every single time I've read it, so maybe it was me and not the book lol
I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a romcom with cute characters that can be read in one or two sittings!

3/5 stars.

Although this isn’t a new favorite of mine, it was definitely a nice and comfy read for the summertime (even though i read it in winter), or if you’re just looking for summer vibes.

I want to start by saying that this book was beautifully written. I normally tend to stay away from first-person writings, but Weber really pulled it all together and tugged at my heartstrings with Harry. Throughout the story, I could really empathize with Harry's struggles, and his want to leave Citrus. All of the characters were very lovable and the story line was full of twists and turns that really made up the story. I really loved how to author included excerpts of Harry's movie script. I could see the connections between his life and the life he made for Rory.

This has an interesting enough concept and it's charming enough but, like I experienced with Jay's Gay Agenda, it's just not the book for me, which, again, I cannot be more thrilled to experience. Being able to set aside a queer book I'm just not that into because there are so many more to read! What a time to be alive! This seems like it'll do exactly what it says on the tin, I'm just not quite compelled enough to stick out a voice I find a little bit off-putting.

Thanks to Inkyard Press for the ARC!

The perfect summer read!

This is the perfect book for when you wish it was summer, looking out on the beach and soaking up the sun! This was a very sweet book and it's more of a character driven book, and let's not forget all of those movie references!!

That cover is beautiful!! I love a good illustrated cover and this is perfect!

Thank you to NetGalley and Inkyard Press for the earc in return for an honest review.

Such a cute story! I adored Harry and kept thinking how much I would love to see this book become a romcom on Netflix. This was such a delight and was the perfect book to get me out of my reading slump.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

𝚋𝚘𝚗𝚞𝚜 𝚚𝚞𝚘𝚝𝚎: “Hot guys are the best part of summer.”

You guys. This debut from @robbyreads is SO. CUTE. I absolutely devoured it.

It’s the beginning of the summer before his senior year, and after a relationship the previous summer left him pretty jaded, Harry had sworn off boys. Until he meets Logan…and then his ex comes back to town. And suddenly Harry finds himself caught between two boys: one that’s familiar, and one that’s new and exciting AND A TOTAL SWEETHEART.

Gah. Logan Waters must be protected at all costs. But I digress…

Harry was honestly such a relatable MC, even for a straight, 30-year-old woman like myself. I remember being his age and, the summer before my senior year, trying to find myself and where I fit in the world. I found myself getting annoyed with him, but then I reminded myself what it was like to be 17 and feel like the entire world revolved around you 😂

This book was sweet and funny and frustrating and angsty and full of self-reflection. Harry started out floating through his life, pretty much doing whatever he wanted. And he had sworn off boys. But after a lot of tears, drama, and a long, hard look in the mirror, he really comes to realize that he can’t continue to stomp around wrecking everything he holds dear in order to get what he wants. He realizes that gaining one is not worth losing the other, and the two don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

I also loved that this book was littered with pop culture/movie references. And that Harry’s voice felt very stream-of-consciousness. And thank you, Robby, for the nod to Catch Me If You Can. You made 17-year-old Frank Abagnale-obsessed Manda very happy 😂

REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️ If You Change Your Mind by Robby Weber is a summer rom-com about Harry, an aspiring screenwriter who is certain that winning a writing competition is the stepping stone to the college of his dreams and a celebrated career. His one mission for the summer is to complete his script and the rest is guaranteed. What Harry does not plan on is the return of Grant, the ex who broke his heart that has every intention of winning Harry back. But Harry has met Logan, the sweet newcomer who makes him see love and romance in a whole new way. While Harry struggles with his feeling for both Grant and Logan he could very well lose them both. And Harry begins to learn that life is very different from a movie script. ⠀

This is a sweet and funny romantic comedy all about teenage summer love with all of its innocence and it’s complexity. It illustrates that life does not always follow a rigid formula like a Hollywood screenplay. The characters are endearing and their trials and tribulations are relatable and authentic. The story could be a bit tighter which would remedy the at times lagging pace. But the writing itself has an easy and simple quality that conveys the vibe of a summer by the shore. All In all, If You Change Your Mind is a nice beach read or one to bring a bit of summer to a chilly winter afternoon. ⠀

Hands down one of my favorite books I have ever read! I’ve been waiting for Robby’s book to come out for so long and I swear it exceeds all expectations. I plan to read this book again and again and I don’t care who judges me about it. It’s phenomenal.

Thanks Inkyard Press for the ARC!

I’ll say this the book is perfect for fans of romcoms. For those influenced by authors like Adam Silvera—do not read this story. I felt at points this story was like the LGBT version of everything already out. And, that’s perfectly alright.

It also felt like this story had a absolutely no plot. I couldn’t for the life of me tell you what the plot was. It’s more character driven. The premise makes you think there’s like two potential love interests when in reality there’s about four.

I really am interested in reading the fully edited version when it comes out in the spring. But, if this is the final version, I’m afraid it won’t be the next big anything due to the fact that it feels like the gay version of books already out.

The story is well done, there just isn’t a plot the characters at certain points feel the same. The best thing going for this book is the fact that the romcom market has been missing books with heavy LGBT representation. I’m proud this book will be on shelves for other kids in the community to discover and it and see themselves reflected.

I just hope the story changes a little before it hits the shelves in the spring. I will also say that I’ll he happy to read more from Robby

If You Change Your Mind was the perfect read to combat the dark winter depressive days; this YA romance, filled with Florida summer, movie and ABBA references, and quippy one-liners from some adorable characters really made for a solid debut for Robby! I thought IYCYM was a great book.

2.5?

Siri, play Let Me Down by Kelly Clarkson.

I credit my ability to actually finish this book with missing my Christmas flight home and sitting in the Salt Lake airport for 6 hours. There is NO PLOT. And while I am the first person to sign up for a character-driven story, the characters don't really grow a whole lot either.

TW: cheating ex (side character), side character with Alzheimer's, vomiting

A main part of this book is a love triangle, something I find so tiresome, ALTHOUGH there's more like 4 love interests... kinda? I do appreciate the authentic portrayal of what it's actually like to crush on people in high school, and how it's less about the commitment and more about who is paying attention to you at the moment. And another positive for this book is that it's about queer joy! The sexuality is simply there, not a source of conflict in the story.

There's also a superhero screenplay that somewhat parallels the events of the story running between chapters because the main character wants to go to screenwriting school (I think?), but I was so bored by those sections. It made for too many characters and felt like an addition made after the editor told him it would be fun. It definitely could be fun! If it wasn't like a half-baked cake with a soggy middle.

I genuinely remember very little else from this book, except the single POC is the best friend character and that it takes place in Florida. Really wished I liked this more because I love Robby's content, but there are only so many "TSwift"s I can handle.

ETA: The chapter titles referencing romcoms was my favorite part of the entire book 🤭

Thank you so much, Inkyard Press, for allowing me to read If You Change Your Mind early!

A while ago, I made a list of my most anticipated queer young adult books for 2022 and If You Change Your Mind is one of them. So when I got the change to read the story early, I was super excited and a little scared at the same time. Luckily, this book met my expectations beyond any doubt. It’s a lovely romcom, and the perfect spring or summer read. I loved the references to all those movies and I’ll definitely recommend this adorable book to my students!

A random find on Netgally, I had no idea this book was being released and jumped at the chance to read it. YA gay romcoms will always have a special place in my heart, it’s a boost of serotonin to reflect on how awesome it would of been when I was in high school to have the maxing selection of these books that are available today. With IYCYM, it definitely still had that Magic. Was it a bit cliche at times? Yes. Harry was hard to get behind as a character and that wasn’t at all to die with his age. Regardless of age bracket I always have a tough time with rich entitled white gays who think their world is ending over the slightest inconvenience. Now don’t get me wrong, Grant is not a good dude, but Harry’s journey with Logan is also not the best. I was rooting for Logan over Grant because Logan is the highlight, but if I’m honest I think Grant and Harry make more sense. The subplot with Logan’s aunt was the gravity this book needed. Without it I’m not sure I would of been able to commit to this fully, but as soon as a real tangible thing happened I knew I needed to stick around. I just wish these books had more diversity. All 3 of the main love interests are hot rich dudes and it just is very off putting to a common reader.

What a perfect summer read--or a read that'll transport you right into the sultry summer heat if it happens to be winter when you're reading this like it was for me. I also really loved the main character's unique voice in this story. Yay for fun queer summer reads!

Summer is my absolute favorite time of year. And thanks to NetGalley and Robby Weber’s debut novel, If You Change Your Mind, I got to spend some of my time this week on a Florida beach in the middle of June with some delightful characters. Ok, minus Grant. He’s the worst. But honestly, Harry and Logan are adorable. And Foster? I want a spin-off book just focusing on him. Every time he showed up, I silently cheered. If you’re a fan of romcoms, this book is right up your alley—and not just because it is a romcom. I think what made this particularly fun were the many nods to famous movie romcoms throughout. (I especially enjoyed the various references to classic films.) This book felt like summer, and lucky for you it comes out May 3, 2022, just in time for you to add it to your summer reading stack. It’s available for preorder now.

The author did a really great job at creating a specific narrative voice in this novel. That does make this read a little "young", but it's a super cute, fun, beachy read that would be perfect for warm months.

Being a huge fan of romcoms made reading this book so enjoyable. I really enjoyed the all of the characters and the beach setting that the story takes place in. Everything was very well developed and I felt for the characters during some of the heavier moments in the story. All of the nods to different films throughout were great and just added to the overall experience. I definitely need more queer romcoms in my life and I highly recommend checking this one out when it releases in May 2022.
