This was an entertaining read but might not be for everyone's liking. There is some plot lines that might be triggering to some, but it was really a good solid read and I will read more by the author in future.
The author does a great job of showing the effects of generational trauma on society. Stephen and Rachel were childhood friends whose lives took vastly different paths. Stephen joins the military and is sent to Iraq until his dishonorable discharge. Rachel becomes an actress and the target of online harassment. Stephen wants to reconnect with Rachel and is surprised to read the hateful comments when he googles her name. He reaches out to her and they both realize the need to reconcile their pasts in order to move forward with their lives. Both Stephen and Rachel were interesting characters and the subject matter of racism and bigotry is timely and important.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this book.
