Pink is for Everybody was such a sweet book, with lots of great illustrations of different types of people and jobs. It is inclusive and features a diverse group of kids illustrated.
What a cute book! The illustrations are lovely, the characters are diverse, there is a lot of alliteration (my fave), & a lot of creativity. I love inclusive picture books So Much. Also, the cat is adorable. 10/10 would recommend. It would also work well with creative playtime where kids can dress up & play with different types of outfits.
This review based on an ARC provided by NetGalley & Owlkids Books
This book gives a whimsical way to talk about not gendering colors and hints at the same for bow ties at the end. It shows fun art of various kinds of people (and animals) who might like pink. I would have liked to see a few more boys in the book though to hammer home the point a bit more.
Thank you to NetGalley and Owlkids Books for the early e-ARC to read and review. I liked that this book takes the great pink debate outside of gender, and explores that pink can just be for anyone who likes it. Beyond the celebration of pink, I did not feel like there was much of a story though, it's engaging and has fun words and gets its point across but I didn't leave the story feeling like it was one that would be a favorite with a zillion re-reads. I do feel as though this is more of a tool for teaching inclusivity (which the illustrations also boost) and that's wonderful. For super early readers, this also could be a great introduction to pink before any expectations get in the way at all.
An adorable children’s story that is all about inclusivity! It’s a gray rainy day but the kids decide to make it happier by celebrating pink. And everyone can wear pink! It’s a super great message and I love that the drawings include a very diverse group of kids.
The color pink takes center stage in this picture book about who pink is for.... EVERYONE! There are differently abled children alongside children with different skin tones. Some children present as non-binary and others are gendered. This is a great way to talk not only about the different shades, tones, and hues of pink, but also that colors aren't for certain types of people. This is especially shown in the page spread where the cat hates its pink bow tie and wants a different color. I appreciated how the author/illustrator showed the full range of gender expression.
This story embodies its title. It’s just a list of who all can like the color pink and who can’t. The illustrations of what really make the story you have as much diversity as can possibly be put in both by skin tones and abilities but it all works. I do wish with in this they would’ve said pink is for girls and pink is for boys and pinks is for these animals. But just saying pink is for pilots and pink it’s for tigers and pink it’s for cats and it does work. And it brings Aerosmith to mind because pink is my new favorite flavor.
Breaks down gender norms relating to pink, features characters of varying skin tones and abilities. An important book to buy for a collection.
Pink is for Everybody is a book full of inclusiveness. There’s not much of a story per say but I loved the illustrations & the way gender norms were handled. Super cute book for little ones in Kindergarten to learn about inclusiveness.
Pink Is for Everybody by Ella Russell is a sweet and positive story that encourages kids (and everyone) to enjoy and embrace the things that they like. The illustrations are gorgeous and I am super appreciative of the inclusivity in the characters. This picture book is a must-buy for the kids in your life.
A very cute book about the ways you can celebrate pink. The book offers a diverse selection of characters all of who enjoy the ways they can incorporate pink into their lives! I gave three stars just because it feels like a lot of books I’ve read recently.
Pink is for everyone, I loved the sediment but was worried about the cheese factor Ive seen in books that chip away from our social construct of gender and color. There was no cheese and didn't shame anyone for thinking pink was only for a certain group. It was a celebration of the color and I love to see it. Imagery was breathtaking and aided well with the story. This book won't disappoint!
Super cute book! For all the times colors have been force-associated with gender, for all the kids out there who mock a boy for wearing pink, or who force girls to wear pink when they don't want to, this book is for them. Great illustrations also.

Pink is for Everybody! and I am not just saying that because it is one of my favorite colors. I loved all of the ways you could wear pink and all of the different professions depicted wearing pink. Colors should be for anyone that enjoys them. The illustrations are colorful and fun and I think kids will enjoy this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read and review.
This is a great book for anyone who says pink is only for girls. Pink is for everyone - well unless you don't like pink - then its not for you! I love that we are celebrating that colours are colours for all. This will be a great addition to any library - I'm looking forward to getting a copy for my classroom library!
A very sweet book about the colour pink. Pink - for anyone who wants it! For anything you want to do with it! It's just a colour!!
Love the art in this, and the wacky hi-jinks the characters get up to.
This is a great book! I love the diversity seen in this book. The more we let kids know that anyone can wear any color, the better things are. After I read a book like this, I hear kids talking about it. How a little boy will say, "I love pink. I wear pink" Its great that we let kids know it ok to be themselves.
Cute story featuring the color pink and lots of diverse characters. I like the concept of the book and the illustrations, although some of the wording could be more rhythmic for readability. I found the androgynous illustrations of the characters to be my favorite feature of this book.
A perfect message that everyone needs to hear, especially children, that pink is a color for everyone! The illustrations are cheerful and fun and the flow of the book will keep any kid entertained. This book addresses the gender stereotype that "pink is for girls" in a simple way that any kid will understand. I plan to use this book in my kindergarten classroom!
I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
It's true, pink is for everyone, it can be for astronauts, aliens, dancers, dragons, fire- fighters, cow- herders, pirates and pilots, etc.
The illustrations are adorable as well.
