This title was cute. Just what you'd expect from a book about colors not being gender specific. I enjoyed reading it.
A cute, inclusive story to help dismantle the overly gendered kids colors. Good for very small children
This is a book I’be been searching for! Every school year I have a discussion with my students about how anyone can like any color. Colors are colors, likes are likes. The illustrations have just the right amount of cheek for kids to enjoy. Thank you to NetGalley for the advance copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. I truly cannot wait to get the book into my classroom!
What an adorable book. I really enjoyed it. The illustrations were great and the message it wonderful. Pink is for everyone (that likes it)!
This was cute, and I loved its message of inclusion. This would be a great read for anyone who feels left out because they like different things, or anyone at all. The illustrations were also beautiful, and I loved the pink color that was used.
This book is fabulous. The art is gorgeous, the message is great and never overly didactic, and the caveat that pink is for everybody, EXCEPT people that don't like pink, is so fun and cute as a final zinger. I love living in a world where books about acceptance and joy and against gender essentialism are becoming so common. Can't wait to get this for my nephew and every other kid I know (can't wait to order a bunch for my store too!).
Hooray for smashing gender norms and the silly notion that pink is a "girl" colour! This is a cute book about a group of kids who are stuck inside on a rainy day. They find a trunk full of pink stuff, and proceed to have a fun time dressing up as many different pink things: firefighters, aliens, pirates, and dragons. The overall message is that pink is for anyone who likes it. (And if you don't like pink, that's okay, too.)
The narrative is fairly simple, and is really more of a message than a story. But it works. The illustrations are the perfect complement, highlighting all things pink without ending up too garish.
I'd recommend this to all little pink lovers to show them that their favourite colour is perfectly okay. And I'd also recommend it to those who might be giving pink lovers a hard time. Pink truly is for everybody who likes it.
I loved this book! The story is well written and I loved the illustrations that went with it! I loved the diversity of the characters included in this story. It really helped with sharing their message that pink can really be for everybody!
I liked how this one takes a dreary day and makes it brighter with the use of colors. Pink can be for everyone! Any color can be for everyone! This is a cute book that I think many children will like.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!
Wow! I absolutely adored this book—the artwork was simple but so fun, the characters were very inclusive and diverse, the point of the story is beautiful and makes readers know that colors =/= gender. I’m not sure what size this book will be physically, but I think it could be a great storytime book—you could include it in a colors themed storytime or a gender-inclusive themed storytime. The “who is pink for?” section would be fun to act out especially during storytime. And again, the artwork is just adorable!
I will absolutely be purchasing this book for my classroom. I love books that discuss colors and gender at a Kindergarten level. You’d be amazed how quickly children adopt gender normative thinking. Every day I hear “That’s a girl color!” “That’s for boys!” I use books like this for socio emotional lessons every year. I am always telling my students there is no such thing as a girls color! Having books that highlights this allow for more meaningful discussions on acceptance, preferences and diversity. Thank you for writing this book!
A sweet short story pushing away that idea that any colorful has any gender. Very fun and inclusive,
