Nadine is a jewelry maker / activist and this time she's advocating for her father because she believe that a oil company took advantage of her fathers mental state now she wants to fight for her fathers right. Helping her is lawyer Caleb Colton taking to read the fine print and help her father out but it seems more then that is going when he realizes that shady company might have Nadine followed putting her life at risk.

I enjoyed this book but I was kinda hoping for more. While I was thinking about how her father was duped and they were working on his situation it kept slipping my mind the whole reasoning as to why Caleb even had Nadine under his care because she was being stalked. Then there was the whole trying to figure out how to get the father out of that contract since he was not in the right mind cause while it showed that there wasn't much other then it saying they were looking into it and looking to see if the shady oil people did this to someone else. It just felt like something was missing and then rushed in the end. I did enjoy the simmering attraction thought between the two. Overall this book was pretty okay, I liked it .

Colton's Pursuit of Justice is the first book in the Coltons of Colorado series by Marie Ferrarella. A romantic suspense that is full of twists and turns that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat in this emotional roller coaster read. I cannot wait to keep going with this book series.

Good start to the new Coltons of Colorado series. Caleb Colton is the oldest of Ben Colton's twelve children. Ben was a respected judge until he was caught taking kickbacks from private jails and juvenile detention centers for sending many innocent people to those facilities. He died in a car accident before he could be tried. In the twenty years since then, Caleb and his twin sister Morgan became lawyers and set about clearing the family name. After starting their own law firm and The Truth Foundation, they set about righting their father's wrongs.

Caleb's workaholic ways in focusing on his mission cost him his marriage though he remained friends with his ex-wife. When she called him and asked for his help for her cousin Nadine he was happy to help. Nadine is an activist, a talented jewelry maker, and a concerned daughter. Her father recently signed away the fracking rights on his property, and she suspects the oil company took advantage of his diminishing mental capabilities. Shortly after Nadine began asking questions, she received threatening phone calls. While she's not convinced she's in any danger, she does want Caleb's help in getting her father's land back.

Caleb is with Nadine when she receives one of those calls and thinks she is in more danger than she will admit. He gets a good dose of her argumentative nature when she fights against every step he wants to take to protect her. While her argumentativeness amuses him, it also frustrates him that her stubborn independence won't allow her to see when she needs help. Underneath the antagonism are undeniable sparks of attraction. After his divorce, Caleb gave up any idea of having a family of his own, but Nadine made him rethink his stance. Nadine never thought she'd fall for a lawyer, but his work shows her the good man he is at heart. I loved how she got involved in helping Caleb with the cases he's working on, showing him the possibilities for a life-long partnership. He just needs to get past the threats against her and his own fears. But it took nearly losing her to get him to that point. I loved the ending and seeing the changes in Caleb and his view of the future.

The suspense was terrific. It started quickly with the threats against Nadine and Caleb's determination to protect her. As they delved into the land grab details, the threats escalated. I was a little irritated at Nadine and the risks she took, capped by her headlong rush to her father's house at the end. I was glued to the pages as I wondered how she and her dad would escape their danger. The resolution of the case was satisfying, though I would have liked a bit of the oil company's reaction.

There is also a secondary story involving one of Ben Colton's victims. We get some progress on that case, but no resolution. This storyline may run through some, if not all, of the books in the series.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the first book in the Coltons of Colorado series. I really loved the characters in this book. Normally, the first book in a series is not my favorite, but this one was everything I wanted in a book. The romance was super cute and fun. The suspense and action was a great. You where not just put into the action, but you where slowly put into it. I really enjoyed the storyline. I cannot wait to keep going with this book series. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Romantic Suspense) or author (Marie Ferrarella) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

This is the first book in a series about the Colorado branch of the Coltons founded by Judge Ben Colton and his childhood sweetheart, Isadora. They were a prolific family, with a dozen children (so at least 12 books to this series). The honorable judge, however, was not so honorable and to provide a good lifestyle for his family, he took bribes from private prison and juvenile detention facilities sending many innocent people to theses facilities. However, an investigative reporter found out the truth and exposed the judge. Before he could be brought to trial, he was killed in an auto accident. In the ensuing twenty years the two oldest children twins, Caleb and Morgan, made it their mission to right the wrongs, becoming lawyers themselves and creating the Truth Foundation and their law firm, Colton & Colton..

Both twins are workaholics and it cost Caleb his marriage. But he is still on good terms with his ex, so when she calls and asks hime to help her cousin, Nadine, he agrees. Nadine is an “activist”, a jewelry maker, argumentative and seems to think that she is invulnerable, making stupid decisions in my opinion, because she doesn’t want to be thought of as a damsel in distress. She comes to Caleb for help, because her father in the early stages of dementia, has signed over fracking rights to an oil company, but when Nadine gets involved, she starts receiving threatening phone calls, emails and is being followed. When Caleb is with her when she receives one of those calls, he not only takes her case, but brings her to his penthouse for protection. When she becomes as passionate about his other cases as she is about her “causes”, Caleb thinks he might have found someone who could be his life partner- if he can keep her alive.

This is a fast moving story. I found Nadine annoying as I think most “activists” are know it alls, who are ignorant about the other side. She also takes stupid risks. Also, it did not seem natural to me for them to go from kissing to nudity in one night.

I read an ARC provided by Harlequin via NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

If anyone has followed the "Coltons" series, you will know the central main characters and story arch. But if you have not, I think it will still be okay as I tend to forget past reads and I wasn't lost in this one.

In fact, the mystery suspense and romance here kept me interested until I couldn't pt it down. I am not going to say much about the story as I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but I liked Caleb & Nadine. They seemed to "fit" which is strange because I normally don't feel like that about any fictional character.

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley/Publisher/Author for an honest review.
