I raced through this book in a few hours - I loved it!
This is becoming one of my favourite murder thriller series.
Stacy Green does it again with this one. I am really invested in this series. I can not wait for the next one.
First time I've ever anything by this author or from this series , and I'm hooked, and yes sometimes I do read a series out of order, but that just me, the top reasons I loved it are as follows:
was full of tension, twists and turns that kept me totally engrossed so much so that I kept reading until I was felling a sleep and almost dropped my kindle.
Set in one of my favorite settings for a thriller or suspense and that's in a town where everyone knows everyone.
Plus the author uses a topic that needs to be talked about but she uses it in a way that doesn't hide or make it unbelievable .
And the characters is a mixture of ones your either love or hate or even at times just dislike them , so you get a good mixture .
i so love this series ,Nikki is still coming to terms of her ex husbands murder at the hands of the killer from her last case and helping her daughter Lacey her partner Rory and his parents have helped so much . but it is now time for her to go back . Rory s new construction site has got a problem while digging up the ground a body is found and Rory suitcase he bought it for his ex girlfriend and all eyes are on him .Nikki gets a phone call from agent Nash for her help sex trafficking around her area and a surrogate mother goes missing and near her due date wont say no more but i so enjoyed
Agent Nikki Hunt is due to start back at work after her previous case had taken a bad turn and needing time to process and regroup. She was anxious about making mistakes again but was determined to get back to work, easing back into things.
Unfortunately for Nikki that was not to be as human remains are uncovered on the site her boyfriend Rory is working on. Immediately things don’t look great when Rory admits he thinks he knows who the body is.
Meanwhile Nikki is asked by another colleague for help surrounding a missing person. Can she find her before anything bad happens and can she distance herself from the case her boyfriend is involved in or will it all go wrong again?
I’ve been really looking forward to reading this book after reading the previous Nikki Hunt books. Once again another fantastic read keeping you in suspense to the end and throwing in plenty to keep you guessing. These books never stand still and you are constantly moving along towards an ending that you are desperate to get to but also wanting to cling on to the story as long as possible. This book has been as brilliant as the others in the series and I’m sure it’ll do fantastically well when it’s published.
The Nikki Hunt series by Stacy Green just keeps getting better and better! I am in love with all the main characters! In this episode, Nikki has to try to be objective as the investigation centers around her boyfriend Rory and, because of the conflict of interest, she cannot be the one leading the team. I enjoyed seeing this side of her, as she's usually the one front and center. The writing, as always, is great, the continuing storyline grabs your attention fully, and the suspense throughout the book keeps you guessing. I am a huuuuuuuuge fan!!!!!
To begin with I love this series !!! Nikki has it all going on she has a daughter, a boyfriend , she’s a kick ass FBI agent, but she is not without her own heartbreak and trauma, but her and her team are who I would want in my corner any day!
As soon as I see a book in this series, I devour it immediately!
This series not only introduced me to Nikki and crew but to this
author as well and I have been a huge fan since book 1 ! A must read book and series !!
After three months away from the job, FBI agent Nikki Hunt is back in the office, and expected to gradually ease her way back into full duty. That plan takes a detour when she's tapped to lead the investigation into a heavily pregnant, due any day now surrogate for a rich couple.
Her boyfriend Rory is also having issues after finding skeletal remains on a job site. After they find a locket with the body (as well as fetal remains), Rory becomes suspect number one after it's clear he knows who the young woman is: a girl he date briefly and then broke up with at graduation. But is the child his? Did he kill her? He doesn't do himself any favors by being antagonistic to the police.
The FBI and local police continue their search for the mussing surrogate, but there are few clues and fewer leads. Eventually, they make a plea to the public for any information.
I read the first book in this series, but now the two between that one and this. At some point, Nikki's ex-husband was murdered. After another agent comes to town, claiming to be working on a tax fraud case and Nikki learns that the missing surrogate is also that agent's confidential informant, Nikki starts going through her ex's papers, looking for clues as to why he was investigating the owner of a limo service - who has conveniently flown to NY and disappeared.
Nikki gets the scoop on the missing surrogate, who once was held by a sex trafficker for a period of time before she escaped. Is he back now, and reclaiming her?
Nikki and company find more skeletal remains, and more fetal remains with them, and eventually determine how the girls were likely chosen, and based on descriptions given by the missing surrogate, zero in on the likely suspects.
The story is good, and there aren't any dragging parts, even when the characters are moving between locations. My only dislike is Rory - I get it, his brother was wrongfully accused and imprisoned for something he didn't do, but Rory should have just lawyered up at the first second the police started sniffing around, so as to relieve some of hi anxiety about being questioned over and over. For their par, the police should have understood why he didn't want to constantly hear their questions, fearing they would railroad him as they did his brother.
The mystery tied together nicely, and there were some pretty gruesome deaths in this one, so if you don't have a strong stomach, you might want to skip this one, or at least skim or skip the fire scene.
Overall: a solid four out of five stars.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the reading copy.
It’s nice to be reunited with Agent Hunt again.
She already has been through a lot in this series, but time and again she stands back up and does her utmost to bring justice to the victims of vicious crimes.
Crimes seem to follow her and her loved ones around and this time too it’s close to home. That’s why she has to concentrate on another case. As the clues start to fit together, she is forced to get involved, coming face to face to the killer.
Will she be able to keep her cool long enough to try and get some more information from them? Will she manage to help some of the victims?
I really thought I had figured it all out this time. But OMG, will I never learn? LOL. Of course I did not get it right.
Thank god there is Nikki and her team to make all the wrongs right again and to free the world from some serious deranged people.
Another great story in this series. There is suspense, but also a lot of things that will make your heart bleed. 5 stars.
Thank you
A digital copy of this book was given to me by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
After 3 months on leave, Nikki is ready to head back to the FBI. While working on a job site at a new development, Rory, Nikki's boyfriend, digs up skeletal remains. A hotshot friend from the academy requests Nikki's help profiling a suspected member of a trafficking ring and her boss calls her to help find a friend's surrogate who has gone missing and her baby is due within 10 days. Within a matter of days, these crimes are all connected.
Nikki once again works with Sheriff Miller and her partner Liam. Her forensic tech and best friend Courtney plays a very small part. I enjoy this series and look forward to #5!
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Stacy Green.
The 4th installment in the Nikki Hunt series. This is the first I've read though, but I think there is enough background information that it could be a standalone but as I enjoyed the book I will look for the previous 3.
In this book, Nikki returns to works to the FBI after her daughter was missing. On her first day back her boss calls her and asks her to assist with the disappearance of a heavily pregnant woman who is a surrogate for a wealthy couple. At the same time her partner Rory discovers some bones at a construction site he's working at. Nikki is confused and frustrated at his attitude with the police and wonders if he has something to hide. It soon becomes clear however that the cases could be linked.
An enjoyable read with good descriptions of police procedures. The characters are likeable and very thorough in the actions. Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review
Bookouture, y'all are simply the greatest! 😘
Thank you for this eARC!
The Girl in the Ground is book four in the Nikki Hunt series by Stacy Green
I've had the pleasure of reading book one, three and now four sadly I somehow missed out on book two...
But its ok I plan on buying it on Kindle!
BTW.... Not reading two I didn't feel like I missed anything. So wasn't that big of an issues just a personal thing because I've gotta read a set in order. Just Me?!
The Girl in the Ground like the ones before just an overall great book!
Special Agent Nikki Hunt is one of my favorites.
A strong protagonist with engaging characters.
I enjoyed the added personal touch Nikki was dealing with it just added more feelings in my opinion.
This was full of twists and moments of suspense, it’s fast paced and I literally couldn’t read quick enough.
Edge of your seat thriller ride that I didn't want to get off of.
Stacy Green has once again outdone herself with another intriguing story that will grab anyone's attention right from the start.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you ever so much Bookouture, NetGalley and Green for this wonderful ebook!
Fresh off a tragic loss, Nikki Hunt is back in the office... there are actually two cases that are demanding her attention. In the first, a dead female is found buried where her boyfriend, Rory, just won a big construction contract. And, the second involves her boss, Hernandez, and a missing surrogate who may be tied to an FBI colleague of Nikki's, Justin Nash. It's interesting how Nikki (and two of my favorite supporting characters, Miller & Liam) navigate both cases. Ms. Green also does a fantastic job to share Nikki's emotional side whilst processing her tragedy and getting back to work. It's an insightful and thrilling addition to this series... one that should not be missed!
This is the 4th instalment in the Special Agent Nikki Hunt series. While you could read this as a stand-alone, to get the most enjoyment from it I recommend starting with book 1.
In this book Nikki is still dealing with the repercussions from Book 3. On her first day back to work after the events from that book she is sent head first into a missing persons case. Her boyfriend Rory finds bones on one of his construction site.. and they have a connection to his past.
This is another great book, super easy fast read that I didn’t want to end. It did wrap quickly and I would have loved a few more chapters! But alas till next time… and hopefully there will be a next time!
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for this opportunity to read this ARc.
Nikki and her daughter are still grieving from the loss they suffered in the last book. After months off from work the day she is supposed to start back a body is uncovered on the job site of her boyfriend Rory. This in turns brings a world of pain and grief for him as its someone from his past.
That was a bit of an issue for me through out the book. The double grieving and Nikki trying to be supportive and understanding to Rory but he's a bit to wrapped up in his own grief and keeping secrets. That was a con for me.
The pro was Nikki and her determination on the job. Her and all her co-workers are excellent at their jobs and that makes for great reading.
Their is a secondary case that Nikki is dragged into that turns out to be connected to the body which at times felt a bit convoluted. Its not my favorite in the series but its still a good suspense with plenty of twists.
After her last case resulted in unimaginable loss and trauma Special Agent Nikki Hunt took time out to hold close those she loved the most. Now though, as it is almost time for her to return to work, boyfriend Rory Todd has problems of his own, when he discovers human remains at his construction site. When her boss alerts her to the possible kidnapping of a pregnant woman she and her team are plunged into the nightmare of trying to find a young woman who appears to have disappeared without trace.
With Rory’s understandable mistrust of the local sheriff's department and Nikki’s inability to help him things are a little stressed and the arrival of an old friend from Quantico makes things more difficult. Running almost on empty, Nikki and her team know time is getting away from them. Can she find the missing woman and save the man she loves, when she knows he is keeping things from her, or is success this time beyond her?
This is book four in Stacy Green's brilliant Nikki Hunt series and I loved every word. The past means Nikki and Rory shouldn't be together but they are and it works. The case she is working this time has twists and turns aplenty and the addition of a visiting agent made everything that bit more intriguing. He definitely had potential though and I would like to see him pop up again in a future story.
I hope there will be much more to come in this series as it is one of the best around at present. The writing is always excellent, the main protagonists easy to root for and I am definitely not ready to say goodbye to Nikki, Liam, and Courtney just yet!
I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. I loved this but the series is much better if read in order. That however, will be no hardship.
Book 4 in the series. The pace is steady, the plotline is gripping and i was hooked after a few chapters. This is one of those books you can't say too much about as I would spoil it for potential readers. There were times when i was on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put the book down. I highly recommend you give this one a read!
Well this book had all the usual, it had suspense, intrigue, action and a few twists and turns! But for me it fell a little flat, I just couldn't get into the storyline?! I'm not sure why but its still worth reading as it was a decent book just not one of my all time favorites! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
