Veronique Vincent, at age 22, is the top model in the world, and she gets a break after Fashion Week, and decides to go away with her mother for a few days. Her boyfriend takes them to the Zaventem Airport in Brussels' When they arrive there is a terrorist attack, and they are standing close to where the bombs went off.
Veronique survives and this is her journey of all that she went through, with losing her mother and her boyfriend in the attack that day. The devastation of what it did to her body after waking up from an induced coma for 3 months in a military hospital. How does one move forward with such loss? Danielle Steel shares her journey, from the despair of all that she has lost, to finally letting a friend stop by, who ignited a spark in her, to taking the first step to begin living her life again.
It is not an easy journey, but one she learns she must follow through with, and she realizes there is still things she can do, and things that she can receive from others. This story will make you cry, it will inspire, it will be a reminder, of how fragile life can be, and there is a way to live again after losing so much.
I received an ARC from Random House Publishing Group-Ballantine through NetGalley.
She starts out so fortunate, works hard and still has a good heart. She endures a horrible experience, but still maintains her heart all of the way through. No one should have to go through what she did and the world needs to treat everyone like they would treat their family.
This story is about a beautiful model whose life changes when an airport bomb destroys her beauty. A story about loss and second chances
Danielle Steels knows how to write a good storyline and this one does not disappoint. The main character is one that readers can relate to, even if she is a top model. Even though Danielle Steels books can sometimes be a tad predictable, I found this one to not follow her typical formula. Danielle hits on some topics that are very real and current in today;s time.
When I tell you that this book is everything and MORE, believe me! Danielle Steel’s books are always beautifully written. Most of the story lines contain romance, love and some heartache, but you know in the end, everything will work out okay. However, Ms. Steel has outdone herself with this novel. A beautiful, young model finds herself involved in a tragedy, thru no fault of her own. Suddenly the world as she has known it for twenty-two years has changed. How does someone face such tragedy, survive and learn to live again? How does she come to the realization of what in life truly matters? On top of all of this, how do you deal with finding out secrets about yourself and your family? Veronique Vincent must traverse this path and work to find peace in herself and her life while facing the answers to these questions and many more. I thought that I could not love this book more, and then I reached the end. When I tell you, it was totally unexpected….Read this one for yourself. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

Danielle Steel brings us the story of a beautiful young woman whose beauty is marred by the devastation caused by the bomb at the airport. She loses everything she holds dear in that one instance. How does she survive a catastophe like that? How will this chance encounter change her life?
Danielle Steel brings us another heartwarming story filled with love, loss, and second chances. She shows us the different sides of beauty and how it affects our lives when life changes in an instant. Read how Veronique faces these challenges as her life is devastated and the only way out is to rise above it all.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Delacorte Press for this privilege.
Veronique Vincent a 22 year old top model was traveling with her mother Marie-Helene Vincent and a male friend of Veronique’s Lord Cyril Buxton leaving Brussels Zaventem Airport when bombing occurred. There were 32 killed and over 300 injured. Veronique lost her mother and Lord Cyril in the bombing. She was in serious condition and ended up with her body filled with shrapnel and much damage to her body and face. She had 26 surgeries before she was released from the hospital months after the bombing. After being released from the hospital and she had to learn how to leave with the damage to her body and face along with the loses that occurred. Another good Danielle Steel book. Sad in spots but interesting and Veronique was an enjoyable character and strong dealing with all the things in her life.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Veronique has lived the life most girls have dreamed about. She is a model that is very sought after. It has been just her and her mother for years. When she is on vacation with her mother a bomb went off and her life changed forever. Her face and body were scarred. She learns who her true friends are and learns more about the father she never knew. I enjoyed this book.
This was a powerful and moving story about a tragedy that ended up being a blessing. After the tragedy., the kindness of the doctors gave Veronique an opportunity to realize the blessing of still being alive and to help others less fortunate. She also had the real possibility of finding love in the midst of an tragic situation. This book is a reminder that beauty is superficial, and that what's on the inside is what really matters! Another great book from Ms. Steel!
Thank you Net Galley for an ARC of Beautiful by Danielle Steel. I always feel like I won when I get selected for her books. This one is tragic and beautiful. Danielle Steel writes novels that you can relate to, the main character Véronique was so well written that I was cheering her on from the start.
I have said it before, but Danielle Steel is an author that I have read for over 35 years. I think her writing style changes so what over the years and she can basically write any genre, but I love when she does a classic romance; which is what I felt Beautiful was.
Beautiful is about a young fashion model on top of the world who in an instant loses everything that is dear to her. Months later recovering from the horrific tragedy she is faced with the realization that she will never walk down the runway or be in the spotlight. The characters are well developed and the storyline is easy to follow. There were times when I cried and times when I screamed.
This book grabbed me from the beginning and was heartwarming and gorgeous. I can't wait for more from this author.
Another good read by Danielle Steel her books are so easy to fall into.
The story moved quickly and was so descriptive!
Thanks to NetGalley for the advance copy!
I think this is one of my favorite Danielle Steel novels. Yes, a terrible tragedy occurred of which I can only imagine the scope of living through a terrorist attack and the aftermath of the injuries that Veronique incurred. However, what she learned in terms of how being beautiful inside is far more important than outside is such a great learning lesson especially in the age of social media. She learned to love herself even with such a drastic difference between her left and right side of her face. Through this, she became a proponent of a cause that really matters like Angola.
Another great book by Danielle Steel. This novel had it all! I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish, and had a hard time putting it down. I will definitely recommend ! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC copy.
Danielle Steel has written a heart-wrenching novel which grabs you from the very beginning and does not let go until the very end when you can breathe again.

What a wonderful story. Danielle Steel made you feel as if you were experiencing everything Veronique was going through at that moment.
Make sure you have a box of tissues when you read Beautiful
Beautiful by Danielle Steel Surviving a horrific tragedy and personal losses, Veronique's story epitomizes the truth that beauty is much more than skin deep. An amazing and compassion young lady.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
This book was sent to me by Netgalley electronically for review. It is the story of a 22 year old model involved in an explosion...she loses those she loves, and she puts her life back together...I suppose I am yearning for books by this author from the "old" days...the story of a boy who brings a girl home...she is expecting a child...his parents help...or maybe The Ring...or maybe the book about Vietnam...that was memorable...this is a quick read about moving on...despite losing the past...a very very young girl...the story takes awhile to get to the point...slow reading.....but this author has always been and will remain an icon in history...when it comes to writing...
This was a lovely novel. It was sadly timely as well. Beautiful Veronique, a top fashion model, faces a frightening injury when she and her beloved mother are caught in a terrorist bombing in Brussels. Despite surviving, her beauty is a fatality when she is painfully scarred on her face and body. She has lost it all, her mother, her beauty and her career, but not her determination.
But, after her mother’s death she finally learns the identity of her father and comes to a shocking and sweet discovery about love and family. She also becomes involved in helping others, through a fluke connection with her surgeon. I found myself teary as I made the journey with Veronique from devastation to hope.
This novel truly teaches the value of compassion and inner beauty. Veronique is a special heroine and I really enjoyed her story.
Thank you Netgalley for a very touching novel, which I truly enjoyed.
Danielle Steel novels never disappoint! I have been reading them for years and I don’t know how she keeps coming up with new inventive ideas, but she always manages to do so! I love that this was based on someone who really valued her looks as it e@z part of not only her, but her career and she gets this horrible situation thrown at her that takes that away from her and is forced to reevaluate not only herself but her place in the world. Very powerful read.
