Book 2 in this series for me and I think I enjoyed this one more than the previous one because all the characters seems to have grown; for example, her mom was kind of crazy last book and is much better this book and mysterious military man is less mysterious. The mystery this time around was still interesting, and I definitely did not expect the ending. I think in hindsight it all makes perfect sense, but did not occur to me at all during the reading.
This is a fun series and it is a quick read on a rainy afternoon. It is a great cozy mystery and does not disappoint.. The characters are interesting and the story line flows.
Abby McCree is working on the annual run with some other townsfolk. She's amazed at how smoothly things are going and is pleased that her biker friend, Gil, is her co-leader. As they're cleaning up after the successful race, a runner is found off the path, having fallen down a precipice. Soon the man is identified as a city council member and it is determined that he was murdered. Unfortunately, Gil's brother had a loud shouting match with the man just before the race started and it looks like he's the prime suspect. Abby doesn't believe Gary killed the man, but she also has vowed to stay out of the investigation as past sleuthing has not always gone well for her personally. But she can keep her ears and eyes open, what harm will that do?
With the town divided over whether Gary is the murderer, Abby learns more about the late city councilman from the talk going around town. She realizes there are plenty of other people who had issues with the man and hopes that some other suspects pop up before Gary is sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit. Can Abby keep her promise to Tripp and safely pass along anything she hears without truly becoming involved, or will she get too close and cause the killer to try and stop her?
I love this series! It's one of my must reads and never disappoints. From the cozy setting to the big good dog, what's not to love when it's combined with a solid whodunit? Can't wait to see what the next book brings!
Death by the Finish Line by Alexis Morgan is the fifth book in her Abby McCree Mystery series. I found this story to be a very satisfying and entertaining read. The characters are likable and well-developed. Plus Abby's dog Zeke makes the read even more fun. I enjoyed following along as the amateur sleuth, Abby McCree tried to stay out of trouble and yet help solve the murder mystery. Not that she managed to stay out of trouble yet again. Also I like the idea that Abby and her tenant Tripp Blackston just might be becoming more than friends. I am really enjoying this series.
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle by Kensington Books and #NetGalley for my honest opinion. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
Death by the Finish Line is yet another cozy mystery that’s hard to put down. Do yourself a favor and add it to your library.
With her inherited house, an unusually large dog, and a jam-packed committee calendar, Abby McCree keeps busy in her adopted town of Snowberry Creek in the Pacific Northwest even when she isn’t investigating the occasional murder! When a dead body turns up on a 5K charity race route, Abby hits the ground running to catch a killer.
I really enjoyed the book and will go back and catch up. Abby is a fun, full of energy and nosy character. I haven’t read the other books and had no issue keeping up.

This book was sent to me by Netgalley electronically for review. It is a quick read with likable characters. The protagonist is a volunteer who gets dragged into too many situations...she also deals with her mother, sometimes problematic, and men. She has a difficult time making up her mind and is controlling. The story, although easily read quickly, does move slowly at times with so many details...However, I enjoyed this book and look forward to more by this author.
A delightful read, Death by the Finish Line is one of those cozy mysteries you cannot put down until the very end.
Well-crafted character!
The overall storyline was charming as we see Abby being drafted to use her organizing superpowers for a 5k charity run that’s part of the Founder’s Day Celebration in Snowberry Creek, Washington. Of course, nothing ever goes as planned and that's the fun of a cozy mystery.
A must-read!
This entertaining mystery is the fifth in this series featuring Abby McCree. As usual, she finds herself caught up in a mystery when an unpopular local resident is murdered. Her skill at observation and making connections helps her connect the dots, and Tripp and her trusty dog, Zeke lend a hand as well. The story is entertaining with twists and turns that kept me turning pages!
Abby remains the towns favorite volunteer leading to to yet another murder. This series continues to offer interesting plots as well as very likeable characters. Whatever is next for her, I will be reading along.
Abby McRee is back in this newest installment by Alexis Morgan.
I enjoyed this book, the mystery grabbed my attention and I was really shocked at the reveal. I was certain my guess was correct.
My only issue is the relationship between Abby & Tripp. I like him well enough, but I don't think he's the right guy for her. I liked her relationship with Gil, and I kinda hope they get together. Tripp seems a bit immature when it comes to relationships.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.
