This was an interesting story of two families I immediately got engrossed with it on the journey. It was very well written.
I was given a free copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.
DNF at 30%. This just isn't quite what I was expecting. The writing was good and the characters were good. I was interested in the struggle to cross the border, but one particular brutal scene just made me not want to read it anymore. This is just a case of 'not for me'.
Two couples trying to get to the USA - two very different premises and two different outcomes. Domenico's story is sad and believable. Thomas's story is quite over the top and not really believable.
Bringing the troubling chronicle of illegal immigrants from El Salvador to Mexico, and their challenging attempts to enter the United States, this is a book for all to read. Desperation and fear are only some of the reasons why people leave their home countries for hopefully a better life. Well written and recommended.
