Dating Dr. Dill was dill-icious. Witty, funny, smart, sexy, relatable, rude, real. I just loved every aspect of this book. I have verbally recommended this book many times and it was a book club selection for the Old School Romance Book Club (Facebook) in July. We all raved about this book. There are parts that are belly achingly funny and parts that will have your jaw on the floor in surprise. There is a moment where you might ask yourself, did they really just do that? (Hint: They DID! And it was hot!) Then again, there is her family to dump the cold water over your head. They are difficult to love or even like, but so necessary to the story. The Aunties are lovely, for the most part. The dad is just...trying to do what he can. The grandparents are hilarious. It's the sister that you'll want to gently push to the ground. She is a lot but then again, she is like "super stressed" because she's getting married. Also, a plot point. But damn. This book is great for readers who love all types of romance (I'm 90% historical!) and want to laugh. Or be hungry. Because the food in this book will make your mouth water.
I really enjoyed this book! While I wasn't able to read it before it came out to the general public, I am so glad that I put it to the top of my list. The family dynamic was so relatable, especially as Kareena compared herself to her sister and compared her relationship with her family. One of my favorite things in the world is when significant others stand up for their partners in front of horrible family, and this one is in my top three of all time.
I absolutely loved this book! The chemistry and banter was amazing! I am a big fan of the fake dating trope and this book did not disappoint. The writing was engaging and the plot development was well crafted. I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Loved the premise, loved the set up, loved the chemistry. Can't wait for the next book in this series!
I didn’t know what to expect from this book but I actually ended up having a good time reading it !
It’s a fun rom com read with some spice 🔥
I really enjoyed the South Asian representation. Kareena was an amazing, confident mc! She knew what she wanted, she knew what she deserved, and most of all, she made sure that that is what she’s gonna receive in the end
overall, cute story :)
This book was heartwarming, happy and hilarious. It's deserving of the hype it's gotten, and I loved the characters!
Dating Dr. Dil was everything I thought it would be and more. I was giggling at so many things the mc’s said- how witty! I read this is one sitting and (don’t tell my husband but I may have stayed up until 2am reading it). The chemistry was sizzling hot and don’t get me started on the tension! I absolutely adored Kareena. She was so refreshing and I loved the way she stood up for herself to everyone.
I feel bad that I didn't like this. While I appreciate some of the commentaries on the plight of older South Asian daughters, so much of the romance was flat. What really ruined it for me was that Kareena never really stood up to her family on her own terms, it took Prem yelling at them during a wedding rehearsal for them to chill and I think it took away a lot of her agency.
Nisha Sharma’s buoyant DATING DR. DIL is a retelling of “The Taming of the Shrew” by way of Bollywood musicals and second-generation immigrant families. Dr. Prem Verma is a cardiologist who believes love is detrimental to public and personal health; Kareena Mann is a lawyer determined to find a love match like the one her parents had, instead of the lackluster arranged marriages her grandmother thinks she should settle for.
Both our leads need money, Prem for his new clinic and Kareena to save her late mother’s house. A fake engagement is the quickest way to secure funds from their families — and Prem’s investors — but only if Kareena gives up her hopes of finding someone who loves her the way she feels she deserves.
These two spend so much page time arguing about whether a fake relationship is a good idea that, to my delight, they end up just skipping the fake part. There’s a lot in this novel: best friends, demanding siblings, difficult parents, aunties on the rampage. If you’re looking for that ensemble family feel in a romance, I’d rate this four Shah Rukh Khans out of five.
DNF (Did Not Finish)- I couldn’t relate to the characters or the story. The family interactions were what kept my attention initially.

Kareena is the older sister in an Indian family where the younger sister is engaged to be married, and she is not. Reena's sister is also a social media influencer that scores an interview with Dr. Dil - a cardiologist and talk show host against love. Prem, aka Dr. Dil, is grieving his last relationship and doesn't believe in love. Reena and Prem have a brief encounter the night before Reena's sister's interview that turns her off from Prem's charm. However, the Indian community around them tries to set them both up for marriage. Dating Dr. Dil is immersed in South Asian culture surrounding family, weddings, and community. I enjoyed the story for the most part; however, I did find the story to drag on, the continued rejection got annoying, and some of the pop culture references will date the story.

I have a lot of thoughts on this book. Mainly, I adored everything about it. I know you're wondering why it only got a 4-star if I loved everything about it. Well, it's literally just because the book was missing a little something to keep me reading the book. It took me forever to get through this and I just kept getting distracted. otherwise, I loved the writing, the characters, the plot, all of it. It was a fantastic read and I can't wait to read more from this author.
Very cute, cultural, reluctant guy with romantic girl. Fake dating. If they’d just communicate and understand themselves more, could’ve resolved quicker.
Found some solace in the examples of app and blind dates Kareena has because YES it is that bad out there.
Think they took the sweater vest obsession just a little too far.
Kareena has given up on the dream of having a love match like her parents. In order to get her parents home, she needs to get married – fast. Dr. Prem Verma, host of the Dr. Dil Show, is a cardiologist with a popular about fixing hearts but he is only interested in medical not romantic issues!
After a poor initial meeting, the two agree to date to try to accomplish their mutual interests. Complications and interfering aunties inevitably happen.
This was a fun read with a well-done enemies to lovers trope that played out nicely with a strong family and community element. After I finished reading it, I could not stop drinking chai. I purchased this one for my library and recommended to my readers. 3.5 stars.
This book has it all – humor, fake romance, sweater vests, a bridezilla, very sexy scenes, and bonus – multiple sets of aunties! I love the aunties. Kareena is a 30 year old woman whose family is concerned because she is still unmarried. Prem is a cardiologist who does not believe in love. They happen to meet at a restaurant and things go well until he suddenly has to leave at an awkward time. She later accompanies her engaged sister to the Dr. Dil talk show and discovers that Dr. Dil is Prem. Kareena and Prem get into a huge argument which goes out live on her sister’s Instagram stream. Kareena wants to buy the family home from her dad before he puts the house on the market, but she needs her wedding fund which he will only release if she is engaged. Prem is trying to open a health care community center and needs to rehabilitate his image after losing an investor due to the Instagram video. He proposes a fake engagement to Kareena to achieve both their goals. Kareena wants true love so she pursues online dating, plus her aunties try to find a man for her. Prem and Kareena spend time together to heal their relationship while she considers his offer. Their relationship progresses and becomes intimate. Kareena has to decide if she can accept marriage with a man who says he can never love her, and Prem has to figure out if he is capable of loving someone.
Great book. I loved every minute of this one.
I liked the representation. It was a fun retelling of Taming of the Shrew. Prem’s use of Charlie really pulled me out of the story.
This was a fun, quick read. I was expecting something different going in after seeing so many rave reviews and was a little disappointed overall when I finished but it was still enjoyable. Both MCs were only okay, and the flip for the hero from hate to love seemed way too fast and without merit. I did
Cute romcom Retelling of The Taming of The Shrew. Fake dating. Hopeless romantic and a Non believer of true love.
Good story, the set up feels a little strange. Then I learned it was based on the Taming of the Shrew, and that makes more sense now. It's hard to make that story contemporary, but the author does a great job. Very spicy, both in food and scenes. Once I accepted the premise and stopped trying to read too much into it, I was able to get more into the book. The characters were well thought out, and they had friends. Any romance where the main characters have friends feels rare.

I absolutely loved this book!
I felt like it was a little slow getting started but once it got rolling, it got rolling..
Kareena wants a love story. One like her parents and is looking for it. She gets major grief from her sister, her dad and grandmother. She finds out on her birthday that her dad is selling their childhood home, one of the last ties to her deceased mother, and Kareena makes a deal with him - she will get the funds and purchase the house.
Enter Dr, Prem, or Dr. Dil.... He is a doctor, who's trying to build a local health center for the community in memoriam of his past love who's passed away - had she had access to health care, she may not have passed. He doesn't believe in love, but there is something about Kareena that he can't put his finger on. Something about her that he can't stop.
The more time they spend together, the more their views match and they become a love match.
I reviewed this book and all views are my own. I just reviewed Dating Dr. Dil by Nisha Sharma. #DatingDrDil #NetGalley
