I've read all the Rebel Girl books and loved them, including this one. Climate Warriors is a great new addition to the series.
I wasn't familiar with all the women featured in Climate Warriors, so I was really excited to learn more about them. My favourite thing about these books is how diverse and inclusive they are, and this one was no exception.
Climate Warriors features 25 inspirational and influential women from all over the world, who are fighting for climate justice and doing their best to protect our planet in their own inventive way.
There's a page with information and a story for each activist, and a page beside it with a gorgeous illustration of them. They've also added a bonus feature with QR codes you can scan for additional information in audio form. It's perfect for those who want to learn more about each warrior.
It's an informative book with an important message, and it's perfect for children of all ages, and adults.
Thank you to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for providing me with a digital ARC of this book in exchange for my review.
I read this one with my nearly 10 year son & we both enjoyed it immensely. I loved how each inspiring young woman had a whole page spread to herself and was accompanied by a gorgeous illustration of them. I loved that a page is left with space for a child to draw themselves & write their own story, and its fantastic how there are pages talking about how to be greener in simple ways, with fun activities on how to celebrate & love nature. A gorgeous book from start to finish. Definitely one that should be available to everyone. 5 out of 5 stars from myself and my son.
This is an important book that every school library should have. Each page tells the story of a girl climate warrior and what they have done to protect the planet with a beautiful colour portrait illustrated by a female artist. These inspiring women come from all over the world and their activities include filmmaking to show the effects of climate change in the Arctic regions, inventing a bioplastic to replace plastic, and preventing areas of the rainforest from being cut down. Many of these warriors are not well known; there is a bonus feature where a QR code can take you to a longer audio story about some of these women. The activities page at the end of the book is a useful resource for teachers to use with their students. This is a very readable book suitable for middle school onwards; it would be good for a teacher to read aloud or for students to read. Thank you Netgalley.com for access to an inspirational book.
Another lovely addition to the Rebel Girls series!
I love these books, they're colorful, easy-to-read and always diverse in the women they choose to feature. If anything, my gripe with previous installments of this series is that I always wished the stories would dive just a little deeper into the actual changes these women have made and the influence they have. I know these books are meant for children, but I never thought that would affect the accessibility that much as long as it's written in the right way.
This time around, there were QR-codes scattered around the book that you could scan for additional information, which I thought was a great way to bring an extra layer of depth to these stories.
This is another winner of the Rebel Girls series. As an adult, I did not know many of the women mentioned, but that's why Rebel Girls is awesome because you learn as you read and you can learn together with your child the amazing Climate Warriors that are doing some creative and life-saving things to help save the planet and why it is so important to see all of what these Rebel Girls have done or are doing and be inspired to protect our planet Earth. Bonus on the activities at the end of the book, I love when you can further learn and create activities from the readings.
This is a great little book about young women who are saving the planet. With popular examples like Greta Thurnberg as well as lesser known women, this book is sure to inspire young girls to live more sustainably. Will definitely be buying for my children.
Thank you Netgalley and Rebel Girls for the eARC in exchange for my review.
A great book about impact and hard work that activists has to do in order to protect us and nature and a glimpse into their lives
I wish I could have had this book when I was growing up. But it’s never too late to pick this one up.
I work in the Conservation field and it’s also my passion. So I’ve seen first hand how the field is notoriously dominated by older, white males. This book is refreshing and tells so many tales of women from diverse backgrounds who are leading the charge to protect our planet. This book is inspiring, refreshing, and informative - for any age, gender, or background.
I loved how the book is broken down into small pages about each person. It’s not overwhelming to read a story. I personally would have enjoyed if each story was a little longer. Maybe just another paragraph or two since I feel like some details were cut out, but I can acknowledge that it’s extremely difficult to tell someone’s life work with only a page.
Regardless, this book was great and it’s something I would definitely share with friends, family, and coworkers.
I really enjoyed this book! The short little bites of information kept me engaged and I liked that the writing was suitable for people of all ages. The illustrations were beautiful and the feature of QR codes was a nice touch for those seeking extra information. This is a book that I will recommend to the young people (and teachers) I work with.
This is a very informative book and one with a very important message. It gives just enough detail about each person and their fight against climate change. The writing is simplistic enough that younger readers can understand and the illustrations are brilliant.
It's another fantastic addition to this series of books that highlights strong females. This is the sort of book that I wish had been around when I was younger and will surely inspire plenty of younger girls to make a difference.
Rebel Girls Climate Warriors is one of my favorites in the Rebel Girl collection. Such great inspirational leaders! My 10-year-old and I really enjoyed the book and the QR codes with bonus audio content were a really good addition. We both liked the illustrations, they are colorful and draw you in. There is a wide variety of female climate advocates included, from elementary-aged activists to well-known activists like Rachel Carson. I love the diversity and variety of the featured individuals. I think this book is a great addition to any school or home library.
I received a digital ARC for review, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. I will be buying a hard copy as soon as it is released!
a great addition to the Rebel Girls series! I loves the book, and look forward to reading more books in the series!. Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for providing me with an e arc of this book!
Rebel Girls Climate Warriors might be my favorite of their smaller collections so far. Both of my girls have a passion for fighting climate change and this collection does a great job of showing big and little changes and how they can make an impact. Sisters Ella and Caitlin McEwan were in elementary school when they stood up to big fast food companies to stop handing out cheap plastic toys in the UK. Kristal Ambrose fought for change in the Bahamas to protect the oceans from plastic (one of J's passions). Angelina Arora found a way to make bioplastic out of shrimp skin! If you have a budding environmental scientist or activist, this is a marvelous book.
Another great addition to the Rebel Girls series!
Going into this book, I only recognized the names of Greta Thunberg and Margaret Atwood, so I was happy to learn about more incredible women. From activists to environmentalists, and so many things in between, the newest edition of Rebel Girls features 25 inspirational women of varying backgrounds that have made an impact when it comes to the environment. I like to mention in my reviews of Rebel Girls books that the writers take such great care to feature women and girls from an around the world who have different races, ethnicities, ages, and background. This is so important for young readers to see the diversity when it comes to inspiring children.
New in this book is the Bonus Audio Stories. For a couple select women, the book has included a QR code that readers can scan to get additional information on that woman/girl.
I am so happy I found this book and got to read it! I am very passionate about environment, sustainability and climate crisis, and the best thing we can do to help is educate ourselves. And this book is brilliant for educating our younger generation, but not only that, it is mostly inspiring to read the stories of 25 amazing girls and women who have changed the world for the better.
I wish every little girl (and boy) would read this book and I think it should be available in every single library out there for children (and aduts alike) to find this gem and get inspired to help our planet.
This inspirational book made with contributions of young activists to inspire more potential young activists highlights some female pioneers and leaders from around the world as they strive to preserve our beautiful home and its wonderful resources. Biographical vignettes are short and relatable for grades 4-7 to read on their own for for parents to read to them. Pages at the end of the book entice children to write their own story of how they can make a difference as well as provide tips on how to live greener day-to-day. Online resources and podcast app make this book easier to tote around and share as a part of the Rebel Girl series. An inspiring title for young activists.
I have really enjoyed all the Rebel girls story including this one which covers the very relevant and important topical issue of climate change. Loved reading about the women from all over the world who used such creativity, innovation and determination to promote eco-friendly practices! Most people have heard of Greta Thunberg but there are many many others and it's great to see the spotlight shining on their endeavours too in this book!
I read the other ones of these in the series and again I think these are really great as it emphasises the impact of females on the world and I think it’s very important for this especially with the women’s rights movement currently going on of all ethnicities and I think that’s really important to acknowledge and know about . Great I would recommend it’s definitely something I would say everyone needs to read about
This is another amazing rebel girls book. My girls are 5 and 2 and we love to find books that show strong females and tells true stories. We are a homeschooling family and as part of our unit studies we have done studies on several of the women in this book. My girls were excited to learn more about these women and what they have done to help the world we live in. There are women from all of the world and women from all backgrounds featured in this book. The illustrations are amazing and the stories give my girls enough information for us to continue our research and learn more about them.
