I really enjoyed this one! It was such a diverse range of women from around the world, showcasing both big and small ways they have helped the planet. I think it's so important to show that climate is a global concern, and that even small actions can make a big difference, which is exactly what this book does. Such an important read for young kids everywhere to inspire them to take action for the climate. I just wish it was longer!
An incredible informative book with a short but insightful collection of incredible women! Easy to understand and the art work is beautiful.
Huge thank you to the publisher for the chance to read and review!
A beautiful and inspirational book that everyone of all ages should read. I was moved to tears by some of the incredible achievements by these amazing women, teenagers and girls. The illustrations are gorgeous and a perfect match for the short stories about each rebel - all of them total heroes.
Climate change is coming for us - and will begin to affect us in terrifying ways in the next ten years. It's easy to panic or think I can't do anything by myself... but we can, and this book shows how.
Next time you're at the beach or in the countryside, do a litterpick. Instead of buying plastic, choose other things for gifts and decor. Thinking twice takes a little effort, but step by step we can do it.
This is a positive and encouraging read to show how we can all make a difference to improve the lives of everyone on our beautiful planet. I particularly love the last part where there is a place to write in your own story.
Read the book and get inspired to fight for your own climate cause.
I love the Rebel Girls books ! I’m so excited NetGalley had this arc. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves the earth and anyone who wants to make it a better world !
I rate this 4.5. It is a very topical book, inspiring, everyone has to do their bit no matter how small, one day it might be that big thing that fight climate change. As with the previous 2 books from Rebel Girls, it has QR code on certain pages for audio accompaniment. It also has some activities to be done with family/friends to raise awareness of nature and climate change.
The only negative I noticed was that some stories they don’t actually mention the specific company/product/event/book that were involved or written about, I wonder if it is a legality issue. I guess it can be solved hopefully by a quick search on Ecosia.
All in all I’ll definitely get my hands on this physical book when my children come to an age suitable for it.
Many thanks Rebel Girls for this advanced review copy.
The Rebel Girls franchise has grown from a single book to multiple volumes plus games, jigsaws, and more. Rebel Girls Climate Warriors is part of a recent spin-off series exploring women who have changed the world in a specific area, this one naturally focused on the environment and climate change.
The book introduces 25 women from around the world. Many familiar faces are included like Greta Thunberg, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, and Rachel Carson, but there are also less familiar activists like Danni Washington, Esohe Ozigbo, and Hu Weiwei. Each person gets a two-page spread with a short biography exploring their contributions and a full-page illustration—with all those illustrations created by different female artists. Obviously, with only one page per person, these biographies aren’t particularly in-depth, but all of them pack a surprising amount of detail into their few paragraphs. The illustrations too are amazingly vivid and packed with color and detail.
This isn’t the first book of this type that Sophie has read and she found it broadly similar to many other short-biography collections aimed at young readers, but that isn’t a criticism. Anyone who has read a similar book in the past may find that Rebel Girls Climate Warriors retreads familiar old ground, but for the young target audience this collection will hopefully be filled with interesting and inspiring new information.
I loved this book and was also pleased to see that it included girls and women from many countries outside of the USA. The stories are seriously impressive and highlight females who are not usuallly in the news. It’s amazing what Nemonte Nemquino from Ecuador achieved and I was impressed by Marjory Stoneman Douglas who saved the Everglades in Florida and lived to be 108 years. There are some truly incredible women showcased here and it’s so important that their achievements and the critical work they are doing is given a voice as well as show girls that they too are capable of such positive impact. I liked the diversity of projects too; from very rural areas to urban cities like Paris.
What I also think is important, is that many projects came about because a girl noticed that something was wrong, decided to do something about it and then overcame obstacles to make that difference. This demonstrates that with just an idea with some perseverance, anyone can make a change. I hope that readers will look up and find out more about the various organizations women and projects in the book. As always with the Rebel Girls books, there is space to think about and write up ideas for your own project. What will your’s be?
A fun and worthy addition to the line! This one is cute without overstaying its welcome, and the stories within it champion being yourself and working for what you can, this is a great one out of the series.
My 3yo daughter and I absolutely love the Rebel Girls Series. Though she's a bit young to understand much of what we read, she absolutely loves seeing women of all ages, colours, sizes being bad@$$!! We very much amp up Girl Power in our house!! I was absolutely delighted to be selected to read the Climate Warriors edition, and will absolutely buy it when available to add a hardcopy to our growing Rebel Girls collection. The collection of narratives and the artwork did not disappoint, as per usual! Thank you to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
What a stunning book! Absolutely love this, so inspiring and informative with gorgeous illustrations too. I can’t wait for my niece to read this!
Climate change is a reality, even if millions don't believe it. The scientific community has warned us for decades that human irresponsible behaviors has been harming the entire planet for years, slowly causing our entire eco-system to collapse. The melting glaciers, the rising sea-levels, the raging forest fires, millions of animals dying due to pollution etc. We need several hails marys at this point.
'Rebel Girls Climate Warriors: 25 Tales of Environmental Allies' gives us the stories of 25 hidden environmental activists who have been battling climate change behind the scenes. With all their might, scientific innovation and perseverance, they have managed to fight back.
Their inspiring stories have been beautifully written and together with the pretty illustrations, I want more. Again, I would like to recommend 'Rebel Girl Climate Warriors' for everyone, not only for children. These illustrated books are a gem and so enjoyable yet thought- provoking. In one sentence I simply loved this book!
Thanks NetGalley and the Rebel Girls Team for this wonderful ARC!!
As always, Rebel Girls is just killing it! I LOVE seeing all different forms of badass girls and reading these stories, they just make my heart full. And the illustrations are just👌
Rebel Girls Climate Warriors: 25 Tales of Women Who Protect the Earth tells the stories of some people you are likely to know, such as Rachel Carlson and Greta Thunberg, as well as many women I was not familiar with. It was encouraging to read these stories of women who are doing so much to protect our planet. Each girl in the collection is given a one page biography detailing her work to save the planet, with a drawing of the girl on the opposite page. As with all the Rebel Girl books, there are activities included at the end for girls to do. The biographies are all well written and at an appropriate age level for younger girls to understand, while still being interesting to adults reading the stories. My favorite fact I learned from this collection was “that underwater kelp keeps 20 times more carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere than land forests.” I highly recommend this book to people of all ages interested in reading about ways people are protecting the planet.
Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an ARC of this book.
Rebel girls series never disappoints and this book is no exception. An engaging read with short narratives, this is bound to be a favourite amongst kids. Highly recommend!
Rebel Girls books are some our favourite books. My daughter is so inspired by the people she reads about. She has chosen women from the books to written school projects on. l will recommend these books to anyone who will listen.
The reason why I loved this book is because it talks about women who want to help the world and make a difference. I gave it five stars because the book told how and why they wanted to make a difference and left a better footprint on the world. I would highly suggest this book to many others because it has that feel good and make a difference factor .
I know this is like "a kid's book series" but I love these books everytime. The little bios are always simple but still super interesting. Love every illustration ; they're always so beautiful and well done. Very inclusive and educational. The activities at the end are very fun! Some of my favorite books!
A collection of 25 stories of amazing women and girls that are changing the world through their passion, determination, voice, and resiliency.

My little ones picked and chose who they wanted to read about and were in awe of the amazing female accomplishments. Hope this will indeed spark the next generation of leaders, water protectors, and climate warriors!
Thank you Rebel Girls for another amazing book in your series.
LOVE THIS! My students really enjoy learning about these women and girls who they otherwise aren't exposed to.
Hugh fan of the Rebel Girls series and very interested in helping to save the planet. This book fit the bill on both! Sharing with my granddaughters. Lots of inspiring stories here, which I think the younger generation needs to read about.
