I’ve been catching up on some older reviews from my reading list, and this one was truly a standout. This is my generic review for books where too much time has passed for me to recall very specific details, but this is what stood out in my memory. The character development is exceptional, bringing the story to life and making every moment resonate. The pacing of the narrative is perfectly balanced, keeping me hooked from start to finish. Overall, this is an excellent book that I’m thrilled to add to my library—a must-read for anyone who appreciates great storytelling.

If nothing else this title will gain readers. A coming of age story in which Laurence has to grow up quickly. One day his mom doesn't come home, and he's thrown into the world of being the head of the household and figure out how he and his 6 year old brother will survive. It's not difficult reading. The author deals with alcoholism and the hope that things will change.
