This was fantastic! I did not see the ending coming. The dual perspectives of Avery and Marissa, and the fact that there are basically 2 mysteries in one made this fast-paced and intriguing. I will definitely read more by this pair.

The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

I really like this duo and was super excited to read this book!!

Marissa and Mathew Bishop seem to be the 'Golden Couple', until Marissa cheats! Marissa would like to repair this, will Mathew agree? A friend shares an article on Avery Chambers, a therapist, who lost her license due to controversial methods.

Everyone has secrets!

I enjoyed the book! Although the first half for me lacked a little, I was interested, but didn't completely grab me right away. At about 50% I was hooked! The last half had my attention completely! Twisty and filled with layers of lies!!

Thank you Greer Hendricks, Sarah Pekkanen, Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the audio to listen to this book in return for my honest review!

4.5 🌟
Avery is a widowed unlicensed therapist who has a unconventional 10 step process she uses with her clients. Each step pushes the individual to dig deep and reveal every last secret they’ve been hiding. Marissa requests Avery’s help discussing an issue with her husband Matthew. During the couples ten step process Marissa and Matthew experience unusual happenings around them. With all the twists and weird behavior of those surrounding the family, you don’t know who the mastermind is behind all the strange occurrences.

This audiobook baited me from the beginning with mysterious characters and unconventional therapy. It was just a hooker, line and sinker for me! Make “The Golden Couple” one of your March 2022 audiobooks! The narrators Karissa Vacker & Marin Ireland brought this triller novel to life!

Thank you to Netgalley and MacMillan Audio for this audiobook.

I could not put this book down. I will easily say this is one of my favorites for 2021. What a ride! The plot was perfectly executed, the characters were flawed, but likable and interesting. I could see this adapted as a series or movie, and I hope it will be. I will definitely be recommending this one to all my reader friends and to my favorite BookTube channel creators. I can't express how much I enjoyed this story. Do yourself a favor and read it immediately!

The Golden Couple! Wow! What can I say?! I rated The Golden Couple 5 stars because it is the most engrossing thriller novel I have read this year!

I enjoyed the unique story line with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers turning the pages. My life is so very busy, but the The Golden Couple demanded my attention. It is everything the critics have been saying: propulsive, twisty and thrilling! This story is about a couple with marital issues who decide to see a therapist. The wild ride begins when we learn their therapist has a questionable past and troubles of her own.

I can’t say enough great things about The Golden Couple! I will post my full book review on my book review blog.

This was another great thriller from this author duo! I enjoyed the perspective changes between the two leading women in the story. The only thing I didn't love is that one was in 1st person and 1 was in third person, and it was a bit frustrating for me. I wish they had both been in the same perspective. Other than that though, the story was fabulous. It's a great thriller that you don't want to put down! I loved all the secrets and the surprising twists!

Wow! Another 5 star read from this writing duo!!

Marissa and Matthew appear to be the “Golden couple” on the outside. Great jobs, a beautiful family, perfect house. But are appearances all they seem to be? Marissa and Matthew reach out to a therapist Avery, who has recently lost her traditional therapist license due to her unconventional therapy practices. Will Avery’s 10 step program to be enough to help Matthew and Marissa before it’s too late?

This book will keep you guessing till the end. While there are plenty of different characters to raise suspicion throughout the book, there aren’t too many where you get confused. I loved the characters in this book so much that I am hoping for a sequel! This was such a page turning, fast read.

If you love domestic thrillers with jaw-dropping twists and turns, this is the book for you! I listen to this book on audio and both of the female narrators were fantastic. I couldn’t put this book down and I highly recommend it!

Thank you Netgalley for this audiobook edition of The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pakkanen.

Avery is a therapist who has lost her license for using unconventional techniques to help her clients. But that doesn't mean that she hasn't had success, and people still seek her services because she serves off of the beaten trail.

Marissa has sought Avery Bishop out to help her and her husband Matthew. Their relationship seems perfect, but Marissa has been cheating on Matthew and she desperately wants to make amends. So begins the enmeshed relationship between Avery and the Bishops. But while Avery was once confident that she had what it took to help them, they may be more than she is cut out to help...

Very fun, very intriguing. The audiobook had two narrators which I love to keep the characters separate. The story hooked me right away. I loved the slow unfolding of the story, and all of the bubbling secrets that you could see right beneath the surface. Well written and very enjoyable.

I absolutely enjoyed this book! It really kept me guessing and wondering what was going to happen next. This is my first book by either Ms. Hendricks or Ms. Pekkanen, but I'll actively look for titles from these authors in the future. This book kept me listening and enjoying every moment as the mysteries were unraveled and secrets were revealed.

Avery is a therapist who recently lost her license for her "unconventional" treatment plans. Matthew and Marissa start seeing Avery when Marissa reveals that she was unfaithful. Between wondering what exactly happened between Marissa and Matthew, and wondering what is going on in Avery's life, there are a lot of secrets to be revealed and it's a completely fun and engrossing ride. I definitely recommend this book!

The narration was wonderful. Both Karissa Vacker and Marin Ireland, who voiced Avery and Marissa's characters (along with the secondary characters) did a great job and definitely added life to the whole ensemble of characters. I just reviewed The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks; Sarah Pekkanen. #NetGalley #MacmillanAudio

This is a fun ride that will keep you guessing.

There are two main characters. Avery is a psychotherapist who has lost her license because of her controversial counseling methods. Marissa goes to see Avery (with her husband Mathew) for counseling. Avery and Marissa are expertly crafted and perfectly flawed. I continually wondered what secrets and motives they might not be revealing.

Many of the secondary characters were also mysterious and acted in ways that caused me to be suspicious of each of them at one time or another.

The plot is filled with atmospheric tension right from the start. For Marissa, the tension is related to her marital problems. For Avery, the tension is more complicated and involves an explosive secret that another patient shared.

The intricately woven plot pulled me in and had me trying to figure out where the twist was going to occur. Every time I thought I knew what was happening, I turned out to be wrong. But I found a tiny breadcrumb just a few chapters before the reveal and I did figure things out.

This audiobook had a perfect dual narration with Karissa Vacker and Marin Ireland creating fantastic moody voices for the characters.

Thanks to McMillan audio and Netgalley for an advance review copy in exchange for this honest review.

A couple of comments about "The Golden Couple":

1) Authors Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen are back!!!!!!!!!!

After wowing readers with "The Wife Between Us", these authors set the bar high.

TRUE CONFESSION: I wasn't "wowed" by the authors' two previously released titles.

"The Golden Couple", however, is in the same "league" as "The Wife Between Us" and is proof that these talented authors have not lost their mojo.

2) This fast-paced domestic thriller is instantly engaging and begins when "golden couple" Matthew and Marissa hire Avery, a maverick therapist with an unconventional "I will fix you in 10 sessions" promise. Avery, BTW, has lost her license due to her controversial methods. Marissa has cheated on her spouse yet is committed to saving her marriage.

Avery is unique and repeatedly defies her profession's code of conduct. I especially enjoyed reading about Avery's off-the-wall tactics that always led to shocking discoveries and unexpected reveals.

All characters are deeply flawed and vividly portrayed in a storyline replete with many twists, turns, and "OMG!" moments.

I listened to the audiobook that was superbly narrated by Karissa Vacker and Marin Ireland. Since the story unfolded from the two POVs of Marissa and Avery, the publisher's choice to cast these two talented narrators (instead of just one solo narrator)was deeply appreciated.

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing early access to this title in exchange for an honest review.

I look forward to listening to many more books by these talented authors.

The synopsis of this book intrigued my right away. And while I can say it’s not my favorite book by the writing duo, that one goes to An Anonymous Girl, it was definitely a solid domestic thriller. In this story, a couple is on the verge of separation. They find an untraditional therapist, who lost her license to practice, to help reignite their marriage in just ten sessions. Up until the very end, you will not know who’s side your one and who’s hiding more secrets. I really enjoyed the therapy parts of the book, the alternating POVs and the audio. However, like other reviewers said, I wasn’t too invested in the characters and found some parts to be a bit too slow. 3.5 stars rounded up.

This book was a page turner from beginning to end. Things are not always what they seem. What seems to be a golden couple goes into therapy to make their relationship stronger. The cracks are starting to show as they go through therapy and a incident from the past definitely comes to light - but things are not what they seem and will have you guessing until the end. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Marissa (psychopath?) is married to Matthew (psychopath?) and they live very comfortably in a DC suburb in Maryland. They have a son who goes to a top notch private school, she owns an upscale boutique and he has a job at a firm that affords them this lifestyle. What could go wrong? Well, Marissa cheats on Matthew, then finds a therapist (Psychopath?) who lost her license and has an unethical, unlicensed practice to help them get through it. Wouldn't everyone do that? Add in a childhood friend (psychopath?), a new boutique assistant (psychopath?), a single mom (psychopath?) at your son's school who is after your husband, and you've got a great suspenseful read! Oh, and the therapist is being stalked by a pharmaceutical company for being a whistleblower, that shouldn't complicate things though, right? This duo's writing style (Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen) just keeps getting better! Fans of suspense and domestic thrillers will devour this one! #netgalley #thegoldencouple

Everyone has their secrets. Marissa and Matthew Bishop, a wealthy couple who seem to have it are hiding something darker behind their golden facades. And Avery Chambers, a disgraced therapist-turned-coach certainly does as well. When Marissa seeks Avery out to disclose her infidelity to her husband and try to work through it, their three lives become entwined in ways they never could have imagined.
This book was so twisty and filled with layers of secrets and lies. It is one of my favorite psychological thrillers I've read this year and definitely lives up to what I've come to expect from these authors. This is a total binge read you won't want to put down.
The audiobook for this title was fantastic and I highly recommend this format for The Golden Couple.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy.

The Golden Couple was awesome! It is an unforgettable kind of suspenseful thriller. It made me uncomfortable, questioning all the characters and their motives. All these people had secrets and complicated relationships. (Ugh) I was hanging on every word of this. I was excited about how the authors kept me interested. Starving for more answers only to get more delicious mystery every chapter.
The therapist Avery had a chilling, forceful presence that scared me. It was hard to tell what she was up to. Everything felt crazy and mysterious just like I like it. I highly recommend this one if you love mystery-thriller and suspense. It checked all my boxes and I hope you read it! It was really good.
I chose to listen to this book on audio and the narrators were Karissa Vacker and Marin Ireland. They were amazing, one of the best things I’ve listened to this year. This was 11 hours and 5 minutes of exciting, suspenseful listening.
Thanks Macmillan Audio via Netgalley.

Yes! The power couple did it again. Absolutely great thriller that has all the elements I love; a therapist, a couple, love, betrail, and a bit of a scandal

I enjoyed the narrators. They are some of my favorites. Five stars!

The book however was just middle of the road for me.
