THE BECOMING, The Dragon Heart Legacy book 2
Nora Roberts
Barrie Kreinik
Fantasy Romance

In the second book of the trilogy after Breen has been dropped into another realm and has started to except her role of witch and warrior. She starts to train on the proper way of being a witch and training with a man named Keegan to hone her warrior skills.

This book was another great mix of real life and fantasy. I really like the bonding between Breen and Keegan. Also I liked the fact that her and her long lost grandmother become so close during this book. Another 5 out of 5 stars for this book and once again I must say to have the third and final book close at hand when you finish it.

This is a solid story, but it just lacks the little extra something that makes me excited to come back to it.

Narration: Single narrator, multiple third person POVs. Enjoyed the narration.

Thanks to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for my copy to review.

Book 2 in the Dragon Heart Legacy trilogy.

While I enjoyed the book overall, there were parts that I didn't love. Parts of it felt like unnecessary filler. (Like most of the Shana storyline. I can see where it has purpose, but I feel like it could have happened without her.)

I still look forward to book three. Hopefully we will see Keegan bend a bit more.

4 Stars for The Becoming by Nora Roberts

I loved the first book in the series and the second book did not disappoint me. Breen and Marco (by accident) return to Talamh. I love all the characters and the fantastical world Nora Roberts has created.

Well, it’s a Nora Roberts book, do I need to say anything else?

A young woman learns that she is not human, and that there’s an alternate universe. She can step between these universes, but not without consequence.

Great story, in a true Nora Roberts style.

Another winner by one of my all time favorite authors. This series brings it all together — romance, Ireland, and just enough fantasy to make it page turning!

No longer interested in this book, love the author but I realized it's not for me. Plus it's the second book in a series

This audio book is about a young woman who has just learned that she is not human, and that there is an alternate universe from which she is from. Her true world's avoidance of destruction depends on her. It's all very overwhelming for her, and she has to rely on her old and new friends. I did have problems following along, I got lost in the story. But, I think it's from my own lack of concentration. It was an enjoyable listen, and you forgot that you were listening to a book being read aloud. It was very well done!

This was a great follow-up novel in the series. The character development that Nora Roberts continues with this second novel was impeccable. I felt like they were my friends by the end. I can't wait for the next installment in this series. This was gripping and took me on a wild ride full of fantasy, adventure, and wilderment. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Oh, I am so digging this series. The Becoming is definitely bringing all the things I so look forward to in a fantasy romance novel. I mean, dragons! Need I say more?

Breen Kelly is back in Talamh and her bestie Marco came along for the ride. Now Breene is finally able to share with her brother from another mother the crazy, fantastical, magic-fueled world she so recently discovered.

The Awakening, to me after having finished The Becoming, just scratched the surface of the magical land Breen discovered. I really felt like The Becoming was really and truly getting into the nitty-gritty of Breen's story. There are several appearances by Breen's evil grandfather and further insight into her father. She gets her first taste of battle and really starts to grasp the enormity of the task ahead of her. The best for me was getting to finally open up this new aspect of her life to Marco and finally getting to have that support back in her life. Breen herself was pretty much a Mary Sue in the Awakening, and now we finally get to see her growing in her self-confidence, which is a biggie for me.

Keegan had already lost a couple of book boyfriend points from me in the last book and I'm not going to lie, there were a few points in this one, he almost lost a couple more. But, by the end, Breen and Keegan came to an understanding. I am hoping that he heeds this understanding and I will be able to award some points back in the future.

The pacing was much improved in this second book. I feel like there was already a good foundation that large areas of info dumps and sections of daily living were already established so we could move at a faster clip was allotted. Regardless, I felt like the book just flew by. If you are a person that loves a good book villain, you won't be disappointed. You get a couple of baddies here and I just have a huge love for crazy if not psychopathic baddies. It just gives a fun and unpredictable story to follow.

Barrie Kreinik, again, does a wonderful job narrating. She created such a vast array of characters that were each unique. Not to even mention her, to me, flawless execution of words that I would have struggled with and most likely butchered in the Gaelic or I don't even know the origin. I really enjoyed the whole audio experience.

Overall, I am seriously digging The Dragon Heart Legacy series and am patiently waiting for The Offering to be published later this year (I think late November).

The Becoming
The Dragon Hear Legacy #2
Nora Roberts

Roberts has upped her game with this fantastic book 2 of her trilogy with non-stop action, both light and dark magic wielders a set of villains, especially Breen’s cold demonic granddad, that will give any reader goosebumps and a group of do-gooders that will make the audience believe just maybe all will end well. She doesn’t pull punches when war wages both sides lose numbers and the fighting scenes are powerful and explosive, plus hello there are dragons and dragon riders how cool is that. Then she gives readers just enough calm, happy times between the battles to be able to take a deep breath before the next clash of Titans. Nora’s depiction of the realm of Talamh and the dark side is total fantasy yet she’s able to breathe a bit of believability in it to make it feel real to her audience. The stars of the show, Breen, Keegan, Marco and a few select others are totally unforgettable and they all rock their roles in the storyline. But when it comes to superstardom it’s Breen all the way, she’s compassionate, she’s feisty, she’s brave, she’s a Heroine with a capitol H and she’s come so far from book 1 learning about herself, her past and coming into her power. All in all this is an extraordinary book two in Nora’s amazing Dragon Heart Legacy trilogy. Brava!

Narration:
The narration by Barrie Kreinik continues to be sensational. She plays a perfect Breen but then deepens her voice and does an equally fab Keegan or Marco and her depiction of children are right-on. Plus she’s got it perfect on the inflections, the accents and the emotions of which there’s a barnfull.

The Becoming follows closely on the tails of book 1 The Awakening and finds Breen Siobhan Kelly fulfilling her promise to Keegan, her Gran and all of Talamh to return from the human realm, what she didn’t count on was her bestie Marco traversing realms on her coat strings. Breen has not only kept her promise to return but to Keegan’s pleasant surprise she’s kept up her training in magiks and fighting as well. She’ll need everything she can muster because the Dark God, her grandfather Odran is getting closer to being able to breech the locks that Talamh has set up to keep him in his own realm and she’s got to be ready to fight and to win when he finally does. And even though there is danger at every turn and Odran is constantly recruiting new numbers to the dark side, Breen is bound and determined whatever the cost to keep all those she loves safe from this monster.

Once again, Nora Roberts has delivered. The Becoming builds on the world first introduced in The Awakening. Breen and Keegan continue the story begun in the first book and Marco (Breen’s friend) is a central figure as well. Marco, bless him, gets dragged into the world of magic by accident but adapts to this with some help. Breen continues her training to defeat her one family member that wants her for his own benefit, her grandfather. There is death, love and the continuing of the story to defeat the dark forces. Former friends (lovers?) will become enemies, others we have just met will die in battle, but through it all the light will shine to help defeat the one who wishes to destroy the world. Can hardly wait for the third installment!
The narrator in this story was great. You could tell the characters apart, and to me that is an important part of listening to the story.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an opportunity to read and review this book in return for an honest opinon.

Well, I can’t post a true review for this as I didn’t even get a chance to review it. The same day I requested it and was approved, it was archived. I didn’t get to even download it. I just finished up the first book and it didn’t disappoint , unlike the publisher of audio did. I love Nora Roberts. Wish there was a way to actually get the audio to download so I could have fair chance to listen

I have been a huge fan for decades. I actually didn't listen to the book but read it... and like others felt that this book kinda dragged which was a little disappointing

After thoroughly enjoying The Awakening (The Dragon Heart Legacy, #1), I immediately forged ahead with this amazing follow-up, The Becoming, with much delight! I was able to continue on with the adventures of Breen and Marco as Breen comes into her own as a warrior in Talamh. Sooooo good that I finished it in just 6 days even with a busy schedule!
As a long-ago fan of Nora Roberts, this audio book of her latest addition to The Dragon Heart series brought much pleasure and excitement to this old woman's heart.
Although fantasy romance is not my normal choice of genre, Roberts' writing makes it all seem so real and normal. Marco can vouch for that for sure!
Definitely give this series a go if you're looking for a lift and the audio narrator is superb!

Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to listen to and review this amazing book!

The Becoming is the second instalment of The Dragon Heart Legacy trilogy. Bree continues her education in magic and builds more relationships in her new magical world of Talamh. As important is her building of new friendships and deepening of ones formed in the first book, The Awakening. The audio book is very well narrated by Barrie Kreinik. She does a wonderful job with the voices and accents and her narration really adds to the telling of the story. I highly recommend the audio version of The Becoming and look forward to the conclusion in the third and last book.

I just finished listening to The Becoming, and, once again, I'm very sad that I have finished the book. I'm on pins and needles until Book 3 is released.

Breen Siobhan Kelly has returned to Philadelphia. She plans to return to Talamh, but she hasn't made any arrangements. She's still writing and keeping up with her training as best she can in her tiny apartment. She's shocked when Keegan materializes in her bedroom, asking that she return with them immediately.

Marco grabbed Breen's wrist as they left, and found himself transported along with them. They return to the magickal land of Talamh to assist Breen's people in defeating the dark God, Odran. Will they be successful in battle? And, will they also find love along the way?

I absolutely loved this book. I would highly recommend The Becoming to any older teen and adult fantasy lovers.

Please, Ms. Roberts, continue to write fantasy of this sort, even after you finish this trilogy.
In the interest of full disclosure, I received a free digital audio copy of this title from Net Galley.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book and the overall series by Nora Roberts. I fully intend to continue with the series when the third book is published. It was an easy, entertaining fantasy adventure that left me feeling good. It was one of those easy audiobooks to listen to that I could keep on while I cooked and did laundry without missing anything from dividing my focus. I was happy each time I returned to the world of The Becoming, and I felt satisfied with the adventure and cast of lovable characters it offered. I will admit that I wasn't 100% sold on the romance, but otherwise no complaints!

I would recommend this book to patrons who enjoy fantasy romances, or someone who needs light fantasy. It is a very easy read that leaves its readers feeling warm and satisfied with the adventure.

Overall, this book is a 3.5/5 for me!
