In the second book in Nora Robert's 'The Dragon Heart Legacy', narrator Barrie Kreinik does stupendous vocalizations of the characters in 'The Becoming'. Breen, Marco, Keegan, and the other characters come to life as Kreinik's consistently engages the listeners with her multiple convincing character voices, while the story continues to beguile the reader.
Breen continues to live in both worlds as she works with Keegan and the other fey to defeat evil God Odran, her grandfather, who is hell-bent on destroying their land, Talamah. Her best and closest friend Marco, a human, has accidently traveled along where he has found acceptance and love in this new world. As with other Nora Roberts trilogies, this book serves to deftly move the story forward to it's eventual conclusion coming in the third and final series book. As a reader, there is no doubt I will opt for the audiobook if Barrie Kreinik narrates the final book. Thank you to #NetGalley.
I love how Nora Roberts can create these immersive fantasy worlds and characters that feel like good friends. This second installment in the Dragon Heart legacy was highly entertaining, full of romance, adventure, friendship, found families and the slow build-up towards what is sure to be an epic conclusion. Great on audio and highly recommended if you're a fan of any of the author's other supernatural fantasy series. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my ALC!
A great second installment in the Dragon Heart Legacy series! Filled with magic, friendship, love, more world building, good vs. evil, and lots of magic and DRAGONS... it's hard not to enjoy this book! It was a bit slow at times, but I love these characters enough to not really care lol. I also loved that Marco stayed in Talamh with Breen - I love their friendship and how Marco has started to integrate himself into this new part of her life.
Can't wait to see how the series ends!
Rating: 4 stars!
I received this book as an eARC audiobook from Netgalley. All opinions are my own!
Breen returns to Talamh, this time with Marco in tow, and the stakes are higher than she could ever have believed they'd be. She must navigate betrayal and bloodshed as Odran gets closer and closer to Talamh and Breen's blood.
I need the next book immediately! I loved this book and wished that there had been more to it. It was one of those that I couldn't put down, and now I'm sad that it's over. I really loved having Marco in Talamh and being able to watch him grow alongside Breen. Their stories are so inspiring and lovely because it's so easy to see yourself in them and to cheer them on alongside their newfound family.
I did feel like the book was a bit slow at times, and there were places where nothing much happened as far as advancing the overall plot. But I loved being able to watch Breen and Marco navigate this new world and find themselves and their families. I found myself really attached to the characters to the point that I was more worried about them than my own problems!
I can't wait to see where their story goes, and I would definitely recommend this series for any fantasy lovers!
Welcome back to Talamh and the world of the Fey. “The Becoming” is the second book in the Dragon Heart Legacy Trilogy by Nora Roberts. I had been seeing the cover of “The Awakening” off and on for several months, and something just kept me from picking it up. I wonder now if I knew how much I would be anticipating the second and third books in the trilogy. I listened to it as an audiobook and it immediately sucked me in, and I could not wait until “The Becoming” came out to find out what happens next!
This is the second book in a trilogy, and you definitely need to read the books in order. The Awakening introduces us to Breen, a teacher from Philadelphia who is struggling to make ends meet and wants more out of life. Breen finds out she has been left money from her father, who left when she was young, and she decides to set out for Ireland no to explore her heritage.
The Becoming picks up where the Awakening left off - Breen and Marco have returned to Ireland, and she introduces Marco to her family and friends, and the land of Talamh. Breen is still working on developing her fighting skills and her magical abilities, and this book has the action picking up.
This is a tale of Good vs Evil in a world of magic and wonder. I enjoyed seeing Breen grow and strengthen throughout the book, and I was transported to Talamh with Breen and Marco! I can’t wait to see what is in store for us with the conclusion of this trilogy!
I enjoyed listening to this as an audiobook- the narrator is great, and I also am introduced to the correct pronunciation of some of the Irish names and terms. This is a five star audiobook for me, for sure!
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest email.
The book is full of adventure and magic and a lot of learning for Breen.
In Awakening Breen starts off as a rabbit with no strengths or any idea who she is but by the end of the story Breen becomes a lioness who is willing to protect those that serve Talamh.
In Becoming, Breen learns what needs to be done and the price that has to faced after battling Odren's followers. She learns to hold her own and what courage is and tenacity and she is becoming like the dragon she ride, fierce and protective of all she holds dear.
This story is so much better then the first, it has heart and adventure and there isn't anyone trying to hide what they are or have to do. The rabbit is gone. And of course Marco (Breen's friend from Philadelphia) adds style and fun to the story. There is so much great storytelling in this book that you'll have to read or my case hear it, to enjoy it.
Have fun on your adventure in Talamh.
I want to thank Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for this special treat of listening to terrific story.
