Dreamy Daniels is a sassy, obsessed with winning the lottery and a woman with a very high work ethic. She is determined to do right by her entitled boss... and helps him win an interview with Karter Redford. Since Karter can make or break the project her boss is working on, Dreamy decides to put her own honest efforts into convincing Karter it is a good job. I love how she knows all the employees and what they are like in such a short time. This is a light romance that is surprisingly well done considering the tropes are age/gap and rich to poor transition.

What bumped my four stars to five stars? Definitely an enjoyable read and one I will remember for some time because Dreamy as a character was so well written that she seemed to bounce off the page! Dreamy is woman I would be honored to have as a friend. Author Sharon C Cooper excels at character development in Karter as well. His growth and movement in Business Not as Usual is inspirational!

Thank you to NetGalley, Berkley Publishing and author Sharon C. Cooper for this review copy for me to read and enjoy. As always, my reviews are voluntary and my opinions are my own.

I liked this book for the most part but if I’m being honest, a majority of it did not keep my interest. A boring storyline with bland characters…I wanted more from this one. Being a fan of this author, I’m disappointed.

3.5 stars!

I was excited for BUSINESS NOT AS USUAL, and thought it was an enjoyable read. There was plenty of angst to go with the romance, and I thought Cooper created two characters that were a perfect pair. Dreamy and Karter had great chemistry, but I was hoping for more steam.

* many thanks to Berkley/NetGalley for the gifted copy for review

Dreamy Daniels works her tail off, but has big plans for her life. Dreaming of winning the lottery to get herself and her family out of debt, she has a chance encounter with billionaire Karter Redford that quickly turns into something more. But their social classes, plus the disapproval of Karter's mother might derail their relationship before it even begins.

I enjoyed this open door workplace romance. The age gap was well done and the book explores themes of power and money imbalance. Dreamy was such a likeable main character and I loved her determination and pure grit. She works for everything she has and doesn't take handouts, even when everything in her life is going wrong. Karter seemed to be the perfect match for her and I loved how he continually pursued Dreamy with class. The audiobook was well done and I enjoyed the narrator immensely.

While I did enjoy the book, I wanted more conflict between Dreamy and Karter. Their relationship seemed to fall into line fairly quickly, without much to test the waters. I appreciated the difference in social class, at times, talk about it was very in your face and I didn't particularly gravitate toward the lottery subplot. In the end I felt like things for Dreamy and her relationship was wrapped with too much of a pretty bow too quickly.

Thanks to Berkley for the advanced copy and for having me on tour.

This book had some cute moments and a bit of steam, but it was so surface level that I ended up skimming the last quarter. Everything felt so expositional - I came pretty close to just not finishing but since it was such a quick read I just kept going. I think there was a lot of potential in the story to dig deeper, especially in terms of Dreamy and Karter's class differences, but it just never got there.

I was excited about this book. I thought the premise had so much potential. Sadly it just was not for me. At the 35 percent mark the conversations did not progress from the two leads and it was simply too much focus on the superficial aspects of people like clothes choices and hair wigs. I did not finish if.

Dreamy Daniels is determined to win the lottery! She plays every week , and when she isn’t she’s working as a secretary and taking business classes in the evening. Her boyfriend has just dumped her for not having her life together, and her boss is a jerk.
Karter Redford is a venture capitalist and the son of a famous movie star. His life immediately changes when he meets Dreamy during a meeting with her boss, who
Is this woman who wears bright colors and takes his breath away with just one smile? He asks her out to dinner and is shocked when she says no. Soon as fate would have it their paths cross again and she agrees to dinner. What she didn’t expect was how kind and attentive Karter is. They both fall head over heels but of course nothing is that smooth. Dreamy doesn’t feel like she fits in with Karters world and he’s a workaholic. Can their world mix? I enjoyed this book it was sweet and Dreamy was so vulnerable and honest four stars!

Dreamy and Karter are goals. They aren't from the same place, but they recognized each other's souls and worked hard to make a relationship. It wasn't easy (and that's what makes it fun to read).

This is one of those books where you can only describe them as; Too cute for words!

This is incredibly upbeat, it's a little too fluffy and cutesy for my personal liking, it has all the feel of a TV movie; a little cheesy, fun, heartwarming - a typical rom-com which will leave you feeling all cheerful and happy.

I really liked the characters; Dreamy (great name!!) and Karter are brilliantly developed and you easily warm to them, which makes following their journey really enjoyable - I particularly like Dreamy's grandad, he's a real laugh!

This is an incredibly easy and non-taxing book, its full of laugh out loud moments and has a great message of stepping back from the stress and thinking of friends and family and most importantly looking after yourself.

I sweet story which will appeal to any reader who loves their romances.

I absolutely loved loved loved this book. Everything about it was cute. I loved the characters and the story. I did not want it to end and hope there is a sequel. I think the author did such a good job writing a story that just made you feel happy and i already want to re read it

Dreamy fully believes she will win the lottery one day. So much so that she knows exactly what she will do with the money. After taking care of her grandfather, she plans to use the rest to start a non-profit that helps women entrepreneurs. When she meets Karter, the wealthy son of a famous actor, they could not be more different. Yet, they somehow fall in love.

This book was a very cute, fun, and low-angst read. I loved how Dreamy and Karter really balanced each other. They each had very complex and interesting backstories that made it fun to see where they came from. Despite their differences I was rooting for them from the beginning. Dreamy’s positivity was so refreshing and made this the perfect escapist read. Her character really made this book special. She was the best kind of dreamer whose optimism was contagious and her bright colorful personality made her the kind of person I want in my life. She wasn’t afraid to be herself and even in her vulnerable moments she felt like a ray of sunshine. This one gave me all the warm fuzzies when reading it!

I loved this heroine. She is a no-nonsense, nose-to-the-ground, relentless woman manifesting her goals.
Dreamy loves colorful clothes, big ideas, and grand gestures. She is a non-traditional student and an adult learner who is struggling to make things come true despite the limited resources she has available. She's a firm believer in pursuing what she believes in and making it happen. She manages up to her irascible boss, doing all of the work behind the scenes to make her organization a success.
When a potential investor shows Dreamy he is interested in both her and her ideas, that he appreciates her intellect and her contributions, and demands her participation in negotiations, she is both flattered and confused. She is definitely attracted to him as well, but she is not at a place in her life to appreciate and make a place for what seems to be an inconvenient connection.
I loved watching Dreamy navigate the conflicting parts of her life, and seamlessly maneuvering the expectations of everyone around her. Dreamy is a woman who deserves to be valued and supported and appreciated, and seeing her finally receive the validation she has earned is the icing on the cake.

-Dreamy is working as an administrative assistant at a tech start supporting the tyrant CEO boss.
-Karter, a potential investor, is impressed with Dreamy’s business acumen and colorful sense of style.
-From a famous and wealthy background, Karter falls in love with Dreamy, who is struggling financially, and the wealth difference challenges the relationship.

𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀:
-Light and refreshing, this book is like two scoops of gelato on a warm sunny day.
-Office romance, age gap, insta-love tropes that feels like a fairy tale retelling
-The book doesn’t take itself too seriously and has a beautiful cast of characters.

I am pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this book as much as I did because I am not typically a fan of age gap, rich man/poor girl romances. What made this book work for me are the characters that Sharon Cooper has created, who range from quirky to refreshingly normal and all endearing (except for Karter’s mother and Dreamy’s boss)

Dreamy is a woman you would love to have as a girlfriend because she is smart, funny, kind, and confident. She has episodes of self-doubt when it comes to men, especially with the handsome, wealthy, and charming Karter but not to the extent that she changes who she is.

Karter and Dreamy’s dates are romantic and hilarious when a series of mishaps cause some laugh-out-loud moments.

Perfect add to your Spring/Summer romance reading stack or a sweet break between heavier reads.

If you’re searching for your next romcom that’ll have your belly aching with laughter from the sheer antics and hilarity, then search no further, my friends! Karter and Dreamy’s love story is full of heart, hilarity, and a mutual respect that never wavers, and it’s super cute. I deeply appreciated the lack of a 3rd-act breakup and the way in which Dreamy and Karter were able to have mature conversations and communicate. It was refreshing to get a male lead with a solid friend group; I just wish we saw more of them considering how pivotal Karter’s grief over the death of one of his best friend’s is to his character development. Also, speaking of Karter — dude is smooth with a capital S!

Business Not as Usual is the adorable story of Dreamy, a woman trying to catch a break, with all of her hopes and dreams dependent on her winning the lottery. Dreamy is just the most likable character - quirky, confident but not obnoxious, loyal, smart and driven. So many obstacles stand in her way but she just keeps going. I couldn’t help but root for her every step of the way. The romance is 🔥, whoa, but also with some laugh out loud scenes and swoonworthy moments. This is one of those books that just made me smile

Super funny, somewhat Cinderella-ish romcom about Dreamy. I enjoyed reading about her and Karter. This was a sweet story that will make you laugh and cry and sometimes get a little angry. I thoroughly enjoyed it and if you are a rom-com fan, I think you will too!

What a complete blast this book is. I fell in love with Dreamy and Karter, as well as the side characters in this one.
.
Dreamy had big dreams. Every day when she leaves the seedy house she shares with her cousin and grandfather and heads to a job she hates she reminds herself she is going to be her own boss one day, oh and she is going to win the lottery. Every day she tells herself that. She needs that mantra because every day is the same. Until the day she caught the eye of her boss’s potential investor, Karter.
.
Handsome Karter, the son of Hollywood royalty, prefers to back start up companies than walk a red carpet. They may be from two different worlds but they are made for each other.
.
Oh, this epilogue had me in happy tears too. This is just a happy, fun book which is exactly what I needed! Huge thank you to @berkleyromance @berkleypub @letstalkbookspromo @berittalksbooks for an advanced copy.

Business Not As Usual by Sharon C. Cooper is a novel about Dreamy Daniels, who is trying her best. Life keeps sending her through trials and tribulations. Dreamy's boss undermines her, her home needs renovations, and her love life is exhausting. All she has to do is win the lottery.

Dreamy's mother, Tarrah, left her on her grandparents' doorstep at a young age. Her ex-boyfriend called her out at a party by listing her faults. Dreamy has lost her confidence.

One day, she catches the eye of her boss's potential investor. Dreamy is a hard worker. She plays by her own rules. If she can win the lottery, Dreamy's life will be perfect!

It's all possible: running her nonprofit, a wealthy good looking man, a new home, and more!

And a getaway wig.

I love the characters in this novel. I can relate to Dreamy in so many ways. Luckily, I have never had to chase a wig down. If mine flew off, you better believe that I'd chase it down.

The love scenes were HOT.

The only con was if was that it was slightly repetitive at times. I kept on reading, knowing that some books tend to focus on a set of thoughts for a character. Besides, I knew Dreamy would bring it. Her personality is contagious.

A winner!

This was a fun, flirty workplace romance between Dreamy, a flamboyant, hard-worker hoping to win it big with the lottery and Karter, a workaholic Venture Capitalist looking for a worthwhile business to invest in. When these two meet at a pitch meeting, the sparks fly and Karter can't keep his mind off Destiny. Not only is she competent and capable in business, she's also beautiful and captivating.

What follows is a light-hearted, open door romance between two Black main characters. If you don't mind suspending your disbelief and going along for the serendipitous ride, this love story will entertain and keep a smile on your face the whole way though. Great on audio too and perfect for fans of authors like Jasmine Guillory. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my advance review copy!
