The Sweetheart Deal is a frothy, heartwarming read by Miranda Liasson. This contemporary tale of two high school rivals who end up making a business deal together is a feel good romance.

Miranda Liasson never disappoints. I always look forward to reading a new Liasson book and this new one is no exception. Yes the frenemies falling in love storyline has been done before but coming at it with a clashing cultures twist was a unique prospective on the story. I know personally how the French culture (myself) and the Italian culture (my husband) take family, food and love very seriously. The story kept me engaged throughout the book and I found myself disappointed that it seemed to come to an end all too soon. The characters were all very likeable and I found myself thinking of future couples and more stories within the story. I think the only thing I was disappointed in was the teasers of the whole story of the family feud, it would be great to hear more about that Grandpa Guidos antics. Another great series by a great author and I’m very much looking forward to future books in this series. Thank you NetGalley and Entangled publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC. The opinions I share are my own.

A modern-day Romeo and Juliet, Tessa and Leo each are part of a French and Italian family feud that has been going on for many, many generations. Each family business is struggling and they are desperate to help. So Leo comes up with a flawless plan, if only he can convince Tessa to go along with it.

MARRIAGE!!! Is Leo nuts? How is Tessa supposed to marry her high school crush and live with him, without falling in love? Six months….how hard can it be?

Overall this book was a fantastic read! It was fun, quirky and highly entertaining. Leo and Tessa’s relationship is rocky at best, but oh so snarky and fun. They have this unique and energetic chemistry, that just burns up the pages. They constantly go back and forth with plenty of witty banter.

I really enjoyed Leo’s character. He is strong-willed, good looking and caring. He may put on a front, but it’s just for show. A way of keeping his heart from being broken and always smiling through the bad stuff.

This book was such a sweet and fun read. It is definitely a page turner and flawlessly written. It has plenty of wonderful characters and I can only imagine more books to come in the future for others. This book was exciting and refreshing, yet oh so sweet and beautiful. Hope to see more from this group.

Sometimes you just need to read a warm your soul kind of romance book, and The Sweetheart Deal is exactly that.

Tessa Montgomery and Leo Castorini have known each other since high school and were known rivals. After many years, Leo returns home to help with his family business, while Tessa is running her family business, with both businesses struggling to survive. Leo and Tessa put together a "sweetheart deal' where they marry, live together, and then go their separate ways in order to save their businesses. Oh, and their family has a long-time feud that they must overcome (major Romeo and Juliet vibes!)

The Sweetheart Deal definitely was a fun read, and I loved watching the story develop. This is certainly one I will recommend and look forward to more in the Blossom Glen series!

4.5/5

This was such a great book! Once I started it, I did not want to stop reading until I finished it. I loved the town and the restaurant and the Boulangerie. It was one of those stories where I wish the setting was real because I would love to visit in real life! Tessa and Leo were wonderful characters with a lot of depth, and great storylines. Enemies to lovers, two people with a long history, and a family feud are just part of what makes their story so interesting. There were so many great side characters in this book, that I really hope get their own books soon! This was a great heartwarming story. I received an ARC, and this is my honest review.

Any book by Miranda Liasson is a must read for me and this one was no exception. The Sweetheart Deal is a heartwarming tale of two nemeses who come together to save their respective businesses and try to end the longstanding feud between their families.

Tessa Montgomery and Leo Castorini and the two main characters and they are instantly likeable. Both characters strive to succeed all the while staying fiercely loyal and protective of their families. Tessa and Leo feel so real because of their struggles both past and present. Watching their reluctant partnership and familial relationships evolve was deeply moving.

The small town aspect and colorful side characters immerse the reader into the story. I was gripped by this book and could not put it down; I finished it in one sitting. I cannot wait for successive novels about the other characters in this book. I highly recommend this book to anyone, but especially readers of women's fiction and romance.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wow a happy book!!

Old longstanding feud between the two families and the MCs coming up with a fake marriage business deal - MOC to falling in love trope - was super excited to read this and am so glad I did!

Tessa and Leo were both awesome! All the secondary characters (and potential MCs for the next in series) were good too.

Looking forward to more in this series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

Do you ever read a book, and as you are reading you want to yell at the characters for being blockheads? And so you actually yell at the book but then have to explain to your partner who is sitting with you what is happening so he doesn't think you are crazy? Just me? Okay then. When I read the synopsis of this book I got major Romeo & Juliet vibes (we have the Castorinis & Montgomerys aka the Capulets & Montagues), which I always love to see twists of, and add to it a fake marriage trope COMBINED with enemies to lovers? Yep, sign me up.

This book follows Tessa and Leo as they set out to resolve their families longstanding feud and save the family businesses. We have Italian vs. French in a battle for food dominance where hearts are on the line, not just peoples pocketbooks. Leo and Tessa have been competing for years, as they grew up together (yes, lets add in the boy next door/girl next door trope too!) and they both long for things to improve for their family, willing to do whatever it takes for them to thrive. The end result is for them to get married, with a legally binding contract, so that things could improve. This book has hijinks, lots of familial bonding & love, a cat named Cosette, and a surprisingly slow burn considering all that this book puts in place for the main couple. I finished this book a few hours after getting it because once I started reading I had a hard time stopping.

My only cons to this book are minor and really not even that negative - yet they can be borderline spoilery (though really you can get the context from the synopsis). 1) There was NO REASON they had to actually be married! This is more of a commentary on the trope in general - why sign the paperwork and make it a legally binding marriage when you can just get a fake license and hold out as if you are married!? Do you know how much work a divorce is?! That just means there are so many extra people to lie to! Jeez. I mean I get it, it works for the trope - it worked GREAT in this book - but it is a thing I always wonder about when reading this trope, thus the yelling at the book. 2) This isn't a negative, more a funny thing my partner noticed. Leo's initials spell out LLC (at least in the ARC that I have - could change by print) - which is HILARIOUS to us since he is a business person and has a MBA degree. Miranda - I have no idea if you did this intentionally or not but PLEASE don't change it, it made me so happy. We couldn't find anything with Tessa's name but Leo's name made my day.

In the end, I really enjoyed this book and I would love to read more books set in this world/about these characters. 5/5

I absolutely loved this book. It held my attention from the very first page.

Tessa and Leo have known each other for years. When he comes back home again after being away, each of them are trying to save their family businesses in a cozy small town. However, there is a long standing feud between the Castorinis and the Montgomerys . Will they be able to find a way to convince the "older generation" that they can work together and bring their businesses up to date and create more business. Tessa has dreams of going to pastry school, but wonders if that will ever happen.

This story has everything . It has a touch of humor, heartwarming moments, second chances, romance, friendships, family love and ethnic traditions, wonderful characters, descriptive writing, generations of love and misunderstandings and ohhhh, a yummy Italian restaurant and a delightful French bakery . MMMM....Mangia, Mangia!

I won't give away any spoilers because the book is one that just needs to be read to enjoy!

The Sweetheart Deal is a sweetheart of a read. Leo and Tessa who have always been competitive decide to enter into a fake marriage to save both families’ businesses. Familiar romance trope, but author Miranda Liasson has created a story that is about so much more than these two pretending for a short time. This is a book about family, about surviving the loss of a parent, about being brave and open to change, about secrets, expectations and sacrifices. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.
