Great book that is very well written. I loved the way the author makes you think about the story as it unfolds for the reader. So well done.
I couldn't put this down, wow what an amazing book, only problem was I didn't realise this was a series and read the 2nd one first!
Highly recommended
My Husband’s Fiancée Birthday a a tautly woven thriller filled with riveting twists and turns that have you questioning everything about the story. From start to finish you move from hating , loving, and mistrusting each and every character and in the end the smack down is real. Holy crepkon a cracker what an ending! So good I can’t wait to find out what happens next!!!
this was a good intense read, I took some time to understand the writing style.
Thanks to netgalley and Victory Editing Netgalley Co-Op for approving this ARC.
This would make an awesome Lifetime Movie! It grabbed my attention from the vey beginning, keeping me engaged and guessing along with throwing out plenty of suspense and drama to keep me on the edge of my seat. I felt bad for Liz, couldn’t stand Nathan and was not too pleased with Dr. Powell either, all of which is a good thing. The addition of the prison setting was a great idea as I was happy to see that someone was on Liz’s side even if it was fellow inmates. The twist surprised me, but I think it helps to give me a leg up on the next book in the series. And yes, there is another one. Things are not tied up in a pretty bow at the end. Definitely ready to dive into Part 2. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.
OMG! Just wow…absolutely one of the best thrillers I’ve read in awhile & I read a lot of them. I’m so excited to immediately jump into My Wife’s Secret!!! Excellent thriller. Finished it in only a few hours…literally couldn’t put it down!
Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Note 2: This is part of a duet. The first book is My Husband's Fiancee. The second is My Wife's Secrets. Please read in order.
Trigger Warnings: fertility issues, infidelity, murder, death of an infant, mental health issues, marriage issues, emotional abuse, child abuse.
This book was definitely on the dysfunctional side, as I started reading it. Captivating, thrilling and riveting, I was rooted to my spot for hours, trying to figure out how the story would go and end.
Liz, or Elizabeth as she is known, has been recently sent to prison, following suspicions of murder regarding her husband's mistress, for a life sentence.
She soon meets her husband's fiancee, despite the fact that they are not divorced yet, and tries to explain her side of the story to her.
Secrets unravel, trauma bleeds into her everyday prison life moreso, confusion and disorientation enter her brain all the time - you would think she had a medical condition of sorts, and she is even more withdrawn as time passes and more parts of her side of the story fall through.
But not everything is what it seems - especially when she has to deal with all the people from her past, who are also, begrudgingly part of her future as well.
More clues follow, sudden alternative theories make up, and Liz may be on the track to getting her freedom.
But someone close to her doesn't want to let that happen - will Liz make it out or not - only time and the next book will tell.
As I said, this book was riveting, captivating, and a rollercoaster ride for me, as I experienced the settings of daily prison life, various inmates' stories and strange happenings inside the prison through Liz's eyes. As well as her piecing clues together to figure out who did kill the mistress and why - it's truly a fun, thrilling, and cannot stop reading rush that continues well past the last page.
Thanks to Wendy Owen and her brilliant writing, for helping me get back to the psychological thriller world. Truly, I feel as if I can breathe again with such an excellent read in my hands.
I loved, loved this book and cannot wait for the next book: My Wife's Secrets coming February 24th 2022, to finally figure out if Liz will make it out of her life sentence and catch the real killer too.
I devoured thie book in one sitting and am devastated It's finished now. It is so engaging and really does have you wondering about even the things that you thought you knew. You will be completely sucked in from the oust and it will keep you enthralled until that very last page ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What an epic read to pop my Wendy Owens Cherry!
Suspenseful, intriguing and full of twists, this book was totally unputdownable. In fact it was fast paced and not a big book so I was easily able to read it in one sitting.
Luz our heroine is such a captivating character. Shes at her lowest point in her life when something unexpected happens.
You see she was sentenced to life in prison for a crime she claims she didn’t commit. Her life takes another fateful twist when her husbands fiancé befriends her to expedite the divorce. What happens in the interim was priceless.
Told in first person I got front and center seat inside her thoughts.
Wow!
The ending felt somewhat rushed but it didn’t take away from enjoying this book and I cannot wait to see what happens next!
4.5 stars!
Wow! This was one intense and fascinating read. You will NOT be able to stop reading once you begin. And wow—what a HUGE unexpected twist that literally made my jaw drop at the end.
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Wow-what a fabulous book, one of the best I have read this year. Gripping in all respects, full of twists and intrigue. Definitely a must-read. Five Stars.
Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book for an honest review.
Psychological thriller at its best... in some parts! Other parts are infuriating. Overall, a good thriller. The sequel will be interesting...
I wasn't sure I'd like this book but I absolutely did. It was well written and plotted. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's highly recommended.
OMG! I love this book so much!
It took me a long time to really focus on reading this one and to come up with a good review. I don't wanna say much about the book, all I can say is that I refused to put this down without finishing it. So intense, full of mysteries and the twist was something I didn't see coming.
My first novel from Wendy Owens and I'll definitely have to read some of her works. I just can't get enough! I love it.
Cheers to Netgalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for being so generous.
Would you like your husband’s fiancé to start visiting you in prison when you’re in prison for killing your husband’s mistress? Life is complicated and we often have ulterior motives for doing what we do. My Husband’s Fiancé is a delicious mix of intrigue, dysfunction, heartbreak and love. Oh and a bit of murder too.
When this book starts you automatically think you know what it is about. You are wrong.
Its all pretty twisted and makes you think. Especially the end. Oh my word. Never saw that coming.
Was a quick read as well.
My husband is cheating on me. So the logical thing to do is to put cameras in her house and watch them, right? I need to stay on top of it and make sure I am aware of everything going on while I try to win him back. And then I decide she needs to die. But before I can kill her someone else does. But who did it? And now I have nothing but time to think about it because I have been found guilty and behind bars for life and no one believes me. Why doesn’t anyone believe me? (A little predictable, but well written and a very good read) I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I love My Husband’s Fiancée! Psychological thrillers that mess with your mind are the absolute highlight of my year! Let’s see, Liz had planned to murder her husbands mistress but had a change of heart (or did she) unfortunately, the mistress is murdered. Liz takes the fall and here is where we begin, Liz in prison, putting the pieces together. What happened? Whodunit? Can you even trust Liz as a narrator?
First let me say, I read this entire book in 1 sitting. It absolutely has all the makings of an addictive thriller.
I will warn - IT ENDS ON A CLIFFHANGER.
I was NOT expecting this to be the start of a series. I was expecting to have my ending all wrapped up with a pretty bow. This is the ONLY reason I did give this book 5 stars!
That being said :
⭐️ This was a WONDERFUL read! I love reading about a woman scorned and going on the journey of revenge and enlightenment with her.
The twist was absolutely there, and I had figured it out, but I will be honest and say it’s very rare that I DONT figure out a twist before it comes. I read a lot of thrillers and I’ve started to be able to guess the twist before the ending. I will say some of the details of the twist did surprise me!
I highly recommend this title to anyone who enjoys ✨psychological thrillers
✨plot twists
✨Unreliable narrators.
The background of the prison did have a bit to do with the story, but a large portion was flashbacks and inner monologues. Don’t be deterred by the prison setting if that isn’t usually your type of book.
I’m a huge fan of these types of books and this one didn’t disappoint! I couldn’t put this book down, and I always found myself wondering Whats going to happen in the next chapter. The suspense is so good in this one. I would definitely recommend it to anyone!
