I really enjoyed the writing in this story! It had a great premise & allowed for a very quick read. I couldn’t help but to like Elizabeth & root for her.
Elizabeth was accused of killing her husbands mistress Alison. She was sent to jail maintaining her innocence. That’s when Nathan’s (her husband) new fiancé showed up & asked her for her signature for divorce papers so she could marry him. In exchange, she would listen to Lizzy’s story.
The ending I will admit had a bit of a twist, and for some reason, I didn’t see it coming although it wasn’t shocking. This book would have gotten 5 stars but the ending just felt so incomplete. There was potentially a resolution, but no follow through at all. It wasn’t satisfying and left a lot to be desired. Luckily, it was an entertaining read so I would still recommend.
I enjoyed this book but found the ending disappointing. However, I then read that it is Book 1 of 2 so I am going to hold judgement until I have read Book 2. It was well written and well worth 4stars.
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to give my unbiased opinion.
Liz always had a strong marriage. Then the loss of a child rocks their relationship. Nathan looks else where and soon has an affair. However, his mistress is found brutally murdered. Fingers first point at Nathan but then Liz is arrested and then imprisoned for the crime.
Whilst in prison she receives a new visitor Dr Evelyn Powell. She is Nathans new Fiancée and she wants Liz to sign divorce papers. Liz agrees on one condition. She listens to her story and judges herself whether she was wrongly convicted. She wants Evelyn to help her get evidence of her innocence. She also believe Evelyn could be her husbands next victim.
Through the visits and letters between the two we see the life that happened before the crime. As things unfold the reader also questions what they believe to be true.
This is a cracking book with a hell of a twist you wont see coming!
Many thanks to Netgalley and the the publisher for the opportunity to read an ARC
The plot of this book made me want to read it on the spot! It was very quick and engaging read!
Basically it is about a woman who is imprisoned for the murder of her husband's girlfriend. But it even gets better when the new fianceé of her husband turns up at visiting hours! Here we go!!!
Trust me as unrealistic as it might sound the charakters seemed pretty real to me and I could connect to all of them in a certain way!!!
Domestic thriller lovers will enjoy this one!
Thanks #Netgalley #Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for this ARC
This book was very slow at the start and unfortunately very rushed at the end. The ending did not satisfy me at all and left me rather frustrated. It is definitely memorable though but I’m just not sure if it’s for the right reasons.
This is my first novel by author Wendy Owens and I read it so quick, which for me is such a good sign that I enjoyed the storyline and the style of writing.
This novel is full of twists and turns that as a reader you just do not see coming.
We meet Liz, who is in prison convicted of the murder of her husbands lover. We then meet Liz's visitor, Evelyn, who has come to the prison as Liz's ex-husband's new fiancée. Evelyn is asking/pleading with Liz to sign the divorce papers so that her wedding can go ahead. Liz is innocent and wrongly convicted and wants Evelyn to help her expose the real killer and Liz can then be free.
Oh I loved the characters so much, full of relatability and gripping details.
I was properly invested in this novel and if you love an amazing plot and good storytelling then do pick a copy of this novel up.
Thanks to Wendy Owens, NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this advanced copy.
Liz and Nathan had a strong marriage. Until after countless miscarriages and a baby that died, pushed Liz into a dark depression, pushing Nathan into the arms of another woman, Allison. When Liz finds out the other woman is pregnant, she plots her death. Every single detail is planned out until she changes her mind at the last minute. But Allison is found murdered and Liz gets sent to prison.
I'm having a hard time reviewing this book. I think the whole entire book was well written and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was detailed and you really got to know Liz. Until the ending. I felt it was severely rushed and I really got no closure. For that I'm disappointed.
MHF was my first read by Ms. Owens’ and I. AM. HOOKED. If life didn’t always get in the way, I would’ve devoured it in one sitting. Every time I thought I had this mind bender figured out, Elizabeth and myself were thrown another curve ball. Great psychological thriller. Will keep you guessing even after the last word is read.
The moment I heard about this book I just had to read it, this is a new to me author but I'm already a huge fan. It was exciting right from the start and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I had no idea what to expect when I began reading what everything that happened kept me guessing right to the very end. And speaking of the end.....I did not see that coming!! My jaw is still on the floor.
What a great book! Honestly, I flew through these pages. The author has made the characters so real It feels like you are reading about people you know personally and you want to help them get their lives back on track. Elizabeth is in prison for murdering her husband's mistress and is visited by his new fiancee. She believes if she is unable to convince her that Nathan killed his mistress then the fiancee could be in danger also.
The only thing that I didn't like about this story was the ending. It left so many unanswered questions. I am hoping for a follow up book to find out what happens to everyone.
If you like this genre you will love this book.
Thanks to Net Gallery for allowing me to read this amazing ARC for my honest opinion.
Elizabeth Foster has been convicted of murder and the person she supposedly murdered was her husband Nathan's mistress Amelia. The thing though is that Liz had planned to murder her, but last minute decided not to go through with it but she turned up dead anyway. If Liz, didn't kill her, then who did? In Liz's mind, she is being set up by her husband Nathan. Now after a year in prison, she is visited by her husband's new fiancée Evelyn. Evelyn is engaged to Nathan and wants Liz to sign the divorce papers, so she and Nathan can move on with their new lives together. Liz decides that this is her chance to get someone to hear her side of the story and maybe save her from being in prison for something that she is adamant that she never committed, so Liz proposes to Evelyn to hear her side of the story and at the end of it- she will sign the divorce papers. About halfway through the book, something got a bit fishy about Evelyn for me and that was later confirmed. I have to admit that this was a very twisty psychological thriller and one that shows with a bit of patience and the right opportunity, how easy it can be to get away with murder. The ending I do have to admit frustrated me a little bit and had hoped it would have been a bit deeper rather than a surface confession as it gave us a little hope that the story was crazier than we initially thought but then it just glossed over what was revealed. Overall, if you love psychological thrillers and don't mind cheating as this is a main part of the storyline, then you will enjoy My Husband's Fiancée by Wendy Owens.
When her husband’s mistress, Alison, is found brutally murdered, all the evidence points to Elizabeth “Liz” Foster and condemned her to a life sentence. As Liz struggles to appeal her case, insisting she didn’t kill Alison, she receives a completely unexpected visitor in jail: her still husband’s new fiancée, Dr. Evelyn Powell, who seeks Elizabeth to sign divorce papers. Convinced that Nathan (Liz’s husband) is Alison’s murderer, she agrees to sign the documents on the condition that Evelyn hears her side of the story first, in order to get the doctor to help her obtain new evidence to achieve her long-awaited freedom.
The way the story is written, weaving memories with the present tense, keeps you hooked on the plot. Although the beginning was a bit slow and some of Liz’s reflections —the book is written in the first person, from precisely Liz’s POV— can be somewhat tedious, the truth is that its reading is quite good. In addition, the good use of psychological elements is the greatest strength of the book.
My Husband’s Fiancée turned out to be a very well thought out and skillfully developed psychological thriller. I would like to know more about Elizabeth, Evelyn and Nathan, and how this really ends.

• I recieved an ARC copy of this book in exchange of an honest review. Thank you to Wendy Owens and The Next Step PR for your trust.
I love a good psychological thriller and this one delivers. We start with Liz's arrest for the murder of her husband's mistress then we do a time jump to her in prison. I don't normally like time jumps but it's only a year so it didn't stretch the credibility of the story. When Liz gets a visitor they strike a bargain Liz will tell her story and Dr Evelyn Powell will get what she wants. The story is slowly revealed through flashbacks which can be a turn off but we need it this way to let us see the dynamics of each character and where they fit in the storyline. I loved all the revelations in the storyline they keep you guessing , there is a twist which I guessed pretty early on but it didn't put me off as I wanted to see how everything was going to play out.
Word of warning this book does end on a cliffhanger but it felt natural as it is one that lines up the next part of the story for Liz's revenge. Hopefully book two won't be too far away.
She's in prison ... for life. She was found guilty of killing the pregnant woman who was having an affair with her husband. She proclaims her innocence and knowing that she didn't kill the woman .. she suspects that her husband killed the girlfriend and then framed his wife.
She's feeling pretty down until she receives a visitor ... a woman, therapist, that says she's engaged to her husband and she wants her to sign divorce papers so they can begin their life together.
Her first thought is that her husband is a killer, who thought nothing of killing his pregnant girlfriend. Is his new fiancee to be his next victim?
The story is told from the wife's point of view, from her memories to the letters she exchanges with the therapist. It's suspenseful from start to finish. There are many questions.. the most important ... did she kill the woman .. or was it her husband? It's slow, but manages to be compelling at the same time. The ending was quite a surprise!

DNF at 50% mark.
This book was too slow for my taste. There was absolutely nothing happening in the book. I believe that there must be something at least halfway to keep the readers hooked.
This is my first book by Wendy Owens. I wanted to read this book solely on the title. My Husband's Fiancée, wow! It pulled me in the moment I saw it.
The book starts off capturing my attention and does not let it go.
The book flowed very well and Liz captured my heart from the start. Liz is arrested and goes to prison for killing her husbands mistress, Liz is adamant it was not her. It was Nathan, her husband.
I highly recommend reading this book.
Let me know what you think.
This was the first book from Wendy Owen that I’ve read and what an introduction! My Husband’s Fiancée was a fantastic psychological thriller that grabbed my attention from the beginning and kept this reader guessing and absorbed to the very last page. The story is told mainly in flashbacks which is usually something I dislike in a book but in this case it’s necessary to the storyline. Surprisingly the heroine, Liz, isn’t a likeable character, or at least to me she isn’t, so I didn’t feel any sympathy for the predicament she found herself in but the twists and turns of the plot itself had me engrossed as I tried to figure out whether or not could Liz really be guilty of murder? It does end on a cliffhanger but not one where I was left screaming at my kindle,. It’s more of a ‘to be continued’ and I, for one, can’t wait to see what happens next.
One last thing I have to say about this book is that a huge part of me is hoping that one day it ends up being made into a TV series. I honestly think it would make for gripping television and that’s coming from someone who hates TV adaptations of books and doesn’t generally watch them on principle!
Omg! What did I just read?
I’m very rarely lost for words, but this book has left me gobsmacked, struggling for words….
The storyline had so many twist and turns. I ended up flipping page after page, needing to know what happened next. Even when I wasn’t reading, I was thinking about this book. It was exciting! I love a good thriller.
This was the first book I’ve read by this author, and looking forward to reading more.
This was a new to me author and one I'll definitely be reading more from if she writes more like this. Especially a follow up book as I desperately need to know what happened next.
Psychological thrillers are my go to reads and this book is proof of why. I absolutely devoured it in mere hours, as I couldn't stop madly turning the pages trying to figure out the truth. I never would of guessed what it actually was, even when I was second guessing everything. Hence I have everything crossed the author does a follow up book.
Highly recommend.
My first thought was that I really liked the premise of the book, and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. I feel like it resonates with a lot of people the idea that you feel a sense of failure if a partner cheats in the relationship, or a loss of self if you admit that the person you are entirely invested in, isn’t invested entirely in you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I don’t want to spoil the ending, but it took me up to almost the end to figure it out and you are left on somewhat of a cliffhanger which leaves the door open for another book (which I love) There was murder, jealousy, heartbreak, lies and redemption all rolled up into a captivating read about a woman scorned...or was she?
