Meg Williams is a con artist - one who will be whoever she needs to be to steal as much as possible from her unsuspecting targets. Kat Roberts is a journalist who has been following Meg for the past 10 years and cannot wait to expose her. When the two cross paths and their lives become entangled, Kat can't decide whether she would rather stick to her plan and expose Meg, or simply be her friend.

I loved this book so much! I found the writing style to be so addictive and I seriously couldn't put this one down. I know being a con artist is frowned upon but I loved how Meg targeted corrupt men and found ways to help women along the way, even ones she never met! Kat was a bit annoying and naïve at times but I love how she turned things around in the end - I seriously LOVED the ending so much! I read the last page like three times and laughed so hard. Where my girls at?! Read this book!

Thank you to the publisher for my review copy, all opinions are my own.

If you are woman...follow along. If you are a man...take notes. You know how you feel when you finish listening to man, I feel like a woman by Shania Twain? (If you don' t feel like a bad ass...we need to talk about that) but I digress. That is what happened to me when I finished this book. I am not going to get into it deep cause....spoilers. But man, I was proud to be a woman.

I freakin' loved The Lies I Tell. I legitimately had zero idea what in the world was going on and I wouldn't trade that for anything. The whole thing. The different pov's. The characters. The plot. All of it. Amazing. That's it. That's all I got for you. Pick it up if you want a different kind thriller. Although, I think I would place this title in more of a suspense genre. For reals. Amazing book.

I truly loved this book. Julie Clark takes the thriller genre and gives it a fresh perspective. What starts as a woman v. woman setting change slowly to reveal a wronged-women female empowerment story for the slightly unhinged.

This was a propulsive thriller that i had a hard time putting down. Meg, one of the narrators, is a grifter who is forced to fend for herself when her mother dies during her senior year of high school. Meg returns to LA after ten years have passed and her next target is the man responsible for the loss of her family home. Kat, the other narrator, is a reporter/writer chasing the story of who Meg really is. These two strike up a friendship based on lies because neither woman wants the other to know the truth of what they are actually up to. What I loved about this book was the female dynamic. Despite the lies, there is a tender relationship between the women in this book, a strong sense of looking out for each other, and the ending does not disappoint.

The assumptions you begin with are not the story you end with, as the stories of two women and their pasts are slowly revealed to uncover secrets, lies, and a revenge plan that is years in the making. I truly enjoyed this story, where you can't believe what you read, until the very last chapter.

review: The Lies I Tell is a fast-paced con-artist story that had me drawn in from the very beginning! I was intrigued by the premise and it didn’t disappoint. It was filled with twists and an unreliable narrator. In this cat and mouse story you truly never know who is lying for the sake of their end game. I loved how everything was slowly revealed between chapters and the multiple points of view. There were times that I strongly disliked both of the main characters, Meg and Kat, while other times I was cheering for them. The quick chapters kept me reading quickly & I love how it wrapped up! There are quite a few trigger warnings (assault, rape, gaslighting, etc) so read with caution.

When young Meg and her ailing Mother are tricked out of their family home by a sinister wannabe-politician, Meg vows to get revenge. Thus begins a plot over a decade in the making as Meg maps out the ultimate con. Meanwhile, a struggling local reporter named Kat has her own motives for following Meg's whereabouts over the years and uncovering her seemingly devious past.

While there were not many twists and turns to be had in The Lies I Tell this was a fun and entertaining thriller following two strong-willed and likable female leads. I enjoyed both Meg's and Kat's perspectives and felt that they equally bolstered the narrative. I wouldn't necessarily classify this as a thriller or mystery, but in my opinion, this was much more entertaining than Clark's previous novel.

I really liked this one! What another great book by Julie Clark. Really suspenseful mystery and I loved the dual POVs and flashboacks.

Investigative journalist Kat Roberts receives a tip that leads her into a traumatic situation and damages her life and career. She knows who the tip came from and sets her mind for revenge on that woman.m, Meg Williams. Meg is a con artist who swindles her way through life. Ten years after her trauma, Meg reappears and Kat is determined to reveal her crimes.

The Lies I Tell definitely held my interest throughout, keeping me locked in suspense. Two unreliable narrators who lie their way through the book make it hard to tell what is real and who to trust. I love that in a domestic thriller! And with that major twist at the end, I’m still wondering. Great read!

3.75 rounded up. Perfect summer thriller. Cat and mouse story between a con artist and a reporter Kat who after 10 years has found the woman who upended her life. Determined to be the one who takes her down Kat works on finally exposing her only to learn that everything is not as it seems. Twisty, turvy, this one was such a fun ride. I'm a sucker for a con artist story if done correctly and this one is well done. Loved it.

This compulsive game of cat and mouse had me hooked and questioning who is actually the bad guy?
.
Meg goes by many different personas and Kat is bound and determined to figure her out. This was such a quick read. I could not wait to get to the end to figure out Meg’s endgame and it was definitely rewarding!

Huge thanks to #sourcebookscasa and #NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review

Loved this fast moving twisty thriller! I saw it described as a modern day Robin Hood - which is perfect. There are two women - Meg and Kat - and in the beginning you are led to certain assumptions about each which by the end you realize were misjudged. Ending is great. I now need to read her first book which I have heard is just as good.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC. This book is available now - highly recommend!

I finished this one last month (once again, still working on those July reviews). The Lies I Tell started out really fast-paced and I couldn’t put it down. The pacing slowed a bit in the middle in my opinion but ended leaving me satisfied.

Meg is a con artist that everyone will love to root for. She ruins the lives of very bad men that have done terrible things to women in their lives. For her last con, she’s going for the man that upended her life in high school. Kat befriends her but is trying to pull a con of her own. I enjoyed the back and forth between these two women. Who is going to pull off their plan? Who is going to get caught? It wasn’t as suspenseful as I expected but more of a kick ass women story that left me smiling.

Thanks to Netgalley and Sourcebooks for this copy!

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The main character was so compelling and I had no idea where the story was going. The secondary character was a little bit of a drag (I personally can’t stand revenge-driven plot lines that have a weak through-thread. Like, this woman’s obsession with Meg was truly unbelievable to me.), but their connection grew on me. I probably also appreciated the ending more because of my disdain for Kat. Overall, solid thriller.

Thank you to NetGalley for the early copy!

I think I thought this book was going to be something completely different than what it was but it doesn't even matter because I loved it so much! While I wasn't a fan of Kat for most of the book, Meg was just so great she made up for anything I didn't like about Kat. The Lies I Tell was so good and everyone needs to read it!

I loved this book. Anytime a book centers around questionable protagonists and skewed sympathies, I'm all there. This novel did not disappoint. As a reader, it was hard to tell who you trusted and if it was okay to trust them. Gender-bent Robin Hood is where it's at. This would be fun to discuss with friends or a book club.

Highly recommend this gripping twisty thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. The novel is told in alternative POV’s of Kat & Meg. Reading about a con artist is always so captivating. I don’t want to spoil anything but thank you for the advance reader copy. Can’t wait for more novels from the author.
