Hello auto-buy author! So nice to see you again!

The Lies I Tell was a most anticipated read because The Last Flight was SO GOOD!

I immediately sat down with this one, and next thing I knew I had read halfway without coming up for air. The plot is twisty and quite genius and I loved the ins and outs of con-artistry, but also how Julie Clark just writes the most enticing stories of bad ass females.

She makes you love the characters whether they are the good ones, or the bad ones. Ultimately - she just makes you full on root for the women when it comes down to it. There's a relatability drawn into each person you meet - regardless of their troubles, their pasts, or even if they are partaking in some shady business - you can find something to relate to in each character - and I think that's why I get so absorbed into the plots.

The Lies I Tell is dual perspective - flipping between a con-artist and the journalist who wants to expose her - and it's the most fun cat and mouse game that has you guessing the entire time - but also cheering madly by the end.

Bravo Julie! Another home run!

This books description pulled me in and I'm so glad to have gone on this ride with Kat and Meg.

Kat believes Meg ruined her life and she's going to get her revenge, even if it did take ten years to cross paths with her again. Meg, a professional con artist, will adapt to any role she needs too. Kat wants to bring her down and expose her con.

I like Kat's gusto, but I don't think her character had the actual tenacity and hutzpah to actually achieve what she wanted. As the story continues you see Kat suffer for her naivety. Kat also learns more about Meg and her motivations, which as a reader I loved watching this unfold. The dynamic between Kat and Meg was great and made me want to read more and more. I enjoyed the twists and turns these two took me through.

"The difference between justice and revenge comes down to who’s telling the story."

Meg Williams knows a thing or two about justice, or lack there of, and delivering it via ice cold platter in her own manner.

But when Kat, a budding journalist who was a unknown casualty of a previous Meg target, finds out Meg is back in town, she strikes up her own ruse to try and out mouse a cat at her own game.

Told from both women's perspectives with a couple flashbacks to Megs prior "gigs", Julie Clark weaves a tale of multiple women wronged with a side of revenge.

Julie Clark has done it again! THE LIES I TELL is every bit the page-turning delight of THE LAST FLIGHT. The complicated friendships, tight thread of tension throughout, and the perfect balance of telling us about imperfect people and making us root for them...it all worked perfectly. Chef's kiss.

This was a highly anticipated read for me that, thankfully, delivered!! I loved the suspense and the way the characters developed. I also really loved the overall feminist message of the book, despite it being very plainly stated in the epilogue rather than trusting the readers to “get it”. Very smart and fun read! Definitely recommend for a weekend or pool bag.

Give me all the "woman seeking revenge" vibes you've got.

I can't say much more without spoiling the plot of THE LIES I TELL, but I can safely say that this one worked for me. This "domestic thriller" checked a lot of boxes, delivering both well-drawn characters and a page-turning plot.

The story centers around Meg, a con artist, and Kat, a freelance reporter/copyeditor who's been waiting to expose Meg's lies for a decade. Both their perspectives are shown, as well as some flashbacks.

I had a lot of fun with this one; it's already slotted into the group of more enjoyable (and more memorable) mysteries/thrillers I've read this year.

Was left guessing until the end, which for me is a sign it's a great book. Clark writes about a female con artist that you aren't sure if she can or can't be trusted. Will be recommending this book to others!

I was a big fan of Julie Clark’s last thriller, The Last Flight, so I was super excited to read her latest, The Lies I Tell. Like I normally do with thrillers, I went in completely blind, and highly recommend that you do the same. I’d describe this book as a domestic suspense story centered around a female con artist and a journalist eager to expose her. They both sound a little evil and vindictive, don’t they? Perhaps a little, but by the end of the novel, I think you’ll admire and respect both women in more ways than one! Here’s what you can expect:

* Justice and revenge story
* Loads of suspense and mystery
* Shocking twists and turns
* Dual perspectives from strong female leads

This nail-biter is out now! Get your hands on this summer’s hottest thriller ASAP. 4/5 stars for The Lies I Tell!

I've been meaning to read Julie Clark for years so I'm happy to have finally done so! I enjoyed this thriller about 2 women interlaced in a sort of cat and mouse game. I thought it was a good, solid thriller. I would want to read Clark's debut thriller as I've been meaning to for years so hopefully I will get into that soon.

Thank you to Netgalley for an advance copy!

This book was a page turner!
Meg Williams is a con artist who is seeking revenge for wrongs done to her family.
Kat Roberts is waiting to seek revenge on Meg.
A twisting and turning plot that ultimately is about female empowerment.
Very good!

Meg Williams is a con artist who is heading to the big score, her most personal con yet. Kat Roberts is a journalist who blames Meg for the devastating turn in her life ten years ago. They form a cat/mouse friendship lie as they each set out to accomplish their acts of revenge without letting the other person stand in their way.
The Lies I tell is one of those books that makes me envy book bloggers and imagine what it would be like to read all day. In a less busy week I would have read this book in one sitting. I didn’t hate The Last Flight, Julie Clark’s previous novel, but I found this book leaps and bounds more entertaining for me personally. Two women scheming and trying to out-maneuver one another is so exciting when it’s done well. It’s a fun, tense, quick read that I couldn’t recommend enough. Perfect for summer and getting back into reading (or at least that is how I’m going to pass my rec on to friends).

I went into this book not having read the author's previous title, The Last Flight so I didn't know what to expect but I was immediately hooked. The story is told in alternating chapters/point of views,: Meg is a con artist who is plotting to get revenge against the man who, ten years prior has robbed Meg and her mom of their family propriety, forcing them to live in their car. Not only that but Meg's mom died soon after, deprived of access to healthcare. Kat is a journalist whose life has crossed Meg's when she was on her first big gig as the assistant of a LA Times journalist investigating on a sex scandal involving a High School school principal and she helds Meg responsible for what happened to her then. Her carrier has derailed and she survives by writing freelance articles for women's magazines while she is preparing her "comeback piece" that will uncover the truth about Meg and she is hoping to sell to an important newspaper. While Meg is a con, you cannot not sympathize with her, she is a bit of a Robin Hood and very likeable. She is always one move ahead and when Kat befriends her in order to expose her scheme you cannot not fall under her charm, like Kat. The ending is also very satisfying. I found this an extremely enjoyable and entertaining read that will please any reader of thrillers even without twists and turns. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review.

Meg Williams grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. She and her mother ended up living in their car to various events. With the death of her mother, Meg sets off to set the wrongs caused by others straight. She sets up elaborate plans and becomes a con artist. A wonderfully written book that leaves you wishing you could turn the pages faster. Excitement on every page.

Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for the ARC of The LIes I Tell. This is my first read by Julie Clark and I will definitely be seeking out more. Thriller and Suspense are my favorite genre and Clark is definitely a master in this area. Her two female characters in this novel are so wonderfully written. Kat Roberts feels that Meg Williams ruined her life and she is out for revenge. This is one of those books you can't put down and you will finish and immediately search for more books from the author. Highly recommend!

This book was the most fun I’ve had reading in quite a while. I was first drawn to the story because the main character shares a name with my daughter. Beyond that, however, the similarity ends. The story sets the reader on a path of cunning and revenge as we witness Meg’s campaigns to bring down the rich and entitled.
Another dimension is added as we follow the efforts of journalist Kat attempting an exposé of the elusive con artist
The reader is conflicted in who to root for, but as the story unfolds in all its detail,, the pleasure of a satisfying ending becomes more and more certain..As Meg’s mother tells her, two women working together are a force to be reckoned with. Wise words in fiction and fact.

The master! I really enjoyed the slow burn of this book and trying to figure out where the story would take me.

Well, Julie Clark!! I thought The Last Flight would be tough to follow but boy did she succeed. The Lies I Tell kept me turning those pages all day, I literally could not put it down,

The Lies I Tell is a cleverly plotted revenge story that alternates between the POVs of Meg, a con artist with a long history of taking down powerful men, and Kat, a journalist who was collateral damage in one of Meg's first cons. Kat has a plan to expose Meg, just as Meg is closing in on the man who betrayed her family and made her into the grifter she would become. The two women form a friendship full of deception that will have you wondering who to trust! If you love a villain with a compelling backstory, I definitely recommend this book! I can't wait to discuss it with my book club!!
