When I saw Julie Clark had a new book out, I was so excited to read it! I loved her book The Last Flight and knew I would love this one too. I’m glad to say it did not disappoint!! This book is perfect if you’re a true crime lover, you’re gonna love this one. Everything about this book is great, the plot, the characters, and the dual POV. I highly recommend checking it out!
The Lies I Tell by Julie Clark is one twisted ride that had me hooked from page one right up till the end. Seriously, I couldn't put it down! What's interesting is that I actually found myself rooting for the anti-heroine, Meg Williams, which is not something I expected. She's a con artist, sure, but there's something about her that makes you want to see her win, despite everything.
What really got me thinking was how the book explores the difference between revenge and justice. It's not just a black-and-white thing; there are so many shades of gray, and the author really dives into that complexity. It had me questioning my own ideas of right and wrong, which is always a sign of a good read in my book.
The characters are so well done, too. Meg is obviously a standout, but even the supporting characters are fleshed out and interesting. I loved getting different viewpoints on the same events—it added so much depth to the story.
Overall, The Lies I Tell is a gripping read that you won't want to put down. If you're into domestic thrillers with complex characters and thought-provoking themes, this one's definitely worth picking up.
Another incredible Julie Clark novel. This page turning sensation kept me up past my bedtime to finish it. I couldn't get enough of the con-woman thriller and all the different twists and turns. Clark is definitely an auto buy author for me after The Last Flight and The Lies I Tell.
Meg has been conning people for a long time, but she's never lost the desire to get revenge on the person who ruined her life.. Kat is a reporter who has been following Meg for quite some time, too. And she plans to expose her for the con artist she is.
This long-game revenge tale was a lot of fun. I would have liked some twists or surprises, but everything was pretty well spelled out. Kat and Meg's relationship is great and I loved all the strong women helping other women. It was pretty fluffy and light, while still making some points.
My thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Julie Clark has done an excellent job with the story of Meg and Kat. The story shares the background of both characters, and draws you in along the way. The story is narrated by both Meg and Kat, and it is hard to determine who you might like more, or who is in the wrong. What excellent writing Julie Clark has presented to us!
Highly, highly recommended in my opinion! Easily 5+ stars.
Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in return for an honest review.
THE LIES I TELL is one of those books that pulls you in and doesn't let go until the very end. Clark brilliantly wrote a thriller that is well-crafted and perfectly executed. The twists and turns will have you guessing as the cat-and-mouse game plays out.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced copy of The Lies I Tell by Julie Clark.
This book had me on the edge of my seat! It kept me awake longer than I should have allowed but you just don’t want to stop reading.
This story is told with two points of view. Meg is a con artist and Kat is a reporter trying to find out the back story.
This is my first time reading a book by Julie Clark, but it won’t be my last!! I’m looking forward to more books in the series. . Many thanks to the author for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
Julie Clark's last book "The Last Flight" was my most recommended book of last year and The Lies I Tell is equally fantastic. Full of twists and turns, it kept me reading long after I was supposed to stop!
Ugh, Meg is a bomb character! Who knew I could like a con artist so much? But team Meg all the way.
Oh my goodness, I loved this twisty book and unreliable narrator’s? The best.
I flew through this book and I think Julie Clark told a fascinating story that definitely kept me hooked the whole entire time.
A great twisty story that flows and intertwines so well!

Told from two perspectives and flashing back and forth between the past and the present. Kat is a news reporter and Meg is whoever she decides to be.
Female con artist targeting corrupt men who abuse their power or what they have. I couldn't put this one down, it was fast paced and I enjoyed every second of it!

"The Lies I Tell" by Julie Clark is a gripping thriller that weaves a complex web of deception and suspense. The story follows a woman living a double life, forced to make choices that lead to dire consequences. Clark masterfully delves into themes of identity, trust, and the consequences of one's actions. With its skillful pacing and unexpected twists, the novel keeps readers on the edge of their seats, questioning the truth until the very last page.
I really enjoyed Clark’s The Last Flight, so I was looking forward to her new thriller. Clark did not disappoint. I never imagined I’d be cheering for the bad guy, but you can’t help wanting Meg to win. A definite 4⭐️ read for me.
A thoroughly enjoyable read. Sometimes thrillers can be predictable, but this one had some surprises. I really like this author and I plan to read more of her novels.
If anyone were to ever ask me to name an author who is completely underrated, I would say "Julie Clark." Clark has another winner on her hands with her new novel, The Lies I Tell. After loving Clark's suspense debut, The Last Flight, I didn't have to think twice before picking up The Lies I Tell.
The Lies I Tell is one of those books that you cannot give too much background on without giving the secrets away, but it can be said that this is a low-key cat and mouse novel about an accomplished con artist and the journalist threatening to expose her.
The Lies I Tell is an engrossing, multi-layered read that keeps surprising you the deeper you dig into it. Just who is playing who in this finely crafted tale of jaw-dropping suspense? Pull out your magnifying glass and prepare to examine everyone's motives carefully, because as far as I can tell, no one here can be trusted! A fun, yet darkly ominous book that is definitely a page-turner!

Giving this book a well-deserved 5-star rating! It proved to be a captivating and fantastic read. The presence of strong female characters, an engaging storyline, and numerous surprising twists left me thoroughly enthralled. My only minor regret is that it could have been longer, as I found myself fully immersed and hungry for more! Nevertheless, I must admit that the ending was simply perfection, leaving me utterly satisfied with a *chef's kiss* of approval.
Loved this one! The story was great, the characters were captivating, and I couldn't put it down! I would have liked a little faster pace as the story got going, but overall, a super great book!
This book was definitely slow to start but I appreciated that as it went on. I liked seeing the motivations for everything. For me, there were no "big twists", however I did not expect to like Meg's story as much as I did. The author did a good job with creating empathy for all sides in the story.
Thank you to the publisher for allowing me advance access to this title. I really enjoyed reading this story and look forward to reading more from this author. As a reader, I am really motivated by character driven stories and I found myself quickly becoming immersed in these characters’ lives. Full review to come.
Traveling With T’s Thoughts:
I read and loved The Last Flight by Julie Clark so when I saw The Lies I Tell, I KNEW i had to get it,
What I liked:
Ya’ll this cover is insanely great!
Kat and Meg. You know, I know I was supposed to dislike one of them. Or maybe even both of them. Because they were both doing “wrong”. But darn it! I loved both these characters to pieces. I wouldn’t trust them with my life, but man, they were entertaining.
The ending. YASSSSS.
Bottom line: Get thee to a bookstore or your library and get this book. You won’t be sorry.
