If anyone were to ever ask me to name an author who is completely underrated, I would say "Julie Clark." Clark has another winner on her hands with her new novel, The Lies I Tell. After loving Clark's suspense debut, The Last Flight, I didn't have to think twice before picking up The Lies I Tell.

The Lies I Tell is one of those books that you cannot give too much background on without giving the secrets away, but it can be said that this is a low-key cat and mouse novel about an accomplished con artist and the journalist threatening to expose her.

The Lies I Tell is an engrossing, multi-layered read that keeps surprising you the deeper you dig into it. Just who is playing who in this finely crafted tale of jaw-dropping suspense? Pull out your magnifying glass and prepare to examine everyone's motives carefully, because as far as I can tell, no one here can be trusted! A fun, yet darkly ominous book that is definitely a page-turner!

For fans of The Last Thing He Told Me.

Giving this book a well-deserved 5-star rating! It proved to be a captivating and fantastic read. The presence of strong female characters, an engaging storyline, and numerous surprising twists left me thoroughly enthralled. My only minor regret is that it could have been longer, as I found myself fully immersed and hungry for more! Nevertheless, I must admit that the ending was simply perfection, leaving me utterly satisfied with a *chef's kiss* of approval.

Loved this one! The story was great, the characters were captivating, and I couldn't put it down! I would have liked a little faster pace as the story got going, but overall, a super great book!

This book was definitely slow to start but I appreciated that as it went on. I liked seeing the motivations for everything. For me, there were no "big twists", however I did not expect to like Meg's story as much as I did. The author did a good job with creating empathy for all sides in the story.

Traveling With T’s Thoughts:

I read and loved The Last Flight by Julie Clark so when I saw The Lies I Tell, I KNEW i had to get it,

What I liked:

Ya’ll this cover is insanely great!

Kat and Meg. You know, I know I was supposed to dislike one of them. Or maybe even both of them. Because they were both doing “wrong”. But darn it! I loved both these characters to pieces. I wouldn’t trust them with my life, but man, they were entertaining.

The ending. YASSSSS.

Bottom line: Get thee to a bookstore or your library and get this book. You won’t be sorry.

VIDEO REVIEW OF THIS BOOK CAN BE FOUND HERE: https://youtu.be/1wjGGr9SZKY?t=727

This book is about two women, one of them is like a shapeshifter she has changed her name many times depending on where she lives, she has always a different job, new job, new people, new connections and then there's this reporter who has been trying to catch her for many, many years because she did something that changed her life.
So they end up meeting again.
One of them is now a real estate agent the other one still a reporter and they are trying to interact with each other, when no one is really telling the whole truth because one is someone that keeps on changing her story and who she is and the other one is trying to discover more about this person.
So their interactions are weird and the book keeps on changing from one point of view to the other.
I really like this book, I have to say this. I want to read more books by Julie Clark.
I think that even though i usually read like thrillers or mysteries or things like that, I've never read something like this, something with lie two main characters, two women and this kind of personalities that maybe are assigned more to men in books or stories.
It's a really good book, I think that the ending, it's not only the ending but the things you start to realize as you are reading them, they shock you. You don't expect them, it's good, it's really, really good, I really liked this one and I highly, highly recommend it.

I recently finished reading "The Last Flight" by Julie Clark and I must say, it was a great read. Having never read any of her books before, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

The story is told from two perspectives - those of two strong women, Kat and Meg. Kat is a journalist who is determined to expose Meg for what she believes to be her true identity as a con artist. Meg, on the other hand, is hiding something and has her own reasons for returning. She has someone she wants to expose too.

The plot is complex and well-developed, with plenty of twists and turns along the way. It's not your typical thriller, which makes it all the more interesting. Instead, it's a slow-burn type of story that is deeply satisfying.

The characters are well-crafted and their motivations are clear. I found myself rooting for both women at different points in the story, which is a testament to the author's ability to create relatable and compelling characters.

Overall, "The Last Flight" is a great book that will keep you engaged from start to finish. If you're a fan of thrillers, I highly recommend giving this one a try. It's a well-written, character-driven story that will keep you guessing until the very end.

The Lies I Tell by Julie Clark
Published June 21, 2022 by Sourcebooks Landmark

This was my first Julie Clark novel, and I'm sure it won't be my last. This twisty domestic thriller told the story of two women, one of whom had a long history as a con woman and the other who was seeking revenge on the woman who she believes upended her life. But things are never as simple as they seem. Sometimes the cross turns into the double cross. And sometimes what looks like justice is actually revenge. This book was very cleverly plotted with short chapters, alternating viewpoints and split timelines. I thought it was hot read that kept me flipping pages and guessing about these women right up until the very end. If you're looking for a compulsively readable summer thriller that you won't be able to put down, add this one to your list!

Meg is a con artist, and has spent years perfecting her craft of telling everyone what they want to hear until she gets her hands on what she wants then disappears.

Kat has been waiting for 10 years to find the women who upended her life. Now that she's finally found her, she is determined to be the one to expose her.

The Lies I tell is such a twisty book following these strong women's past and present. There is so much going on that you cannot put the book down unless you are taking a second to process something that just happened. I greatly enjoyed this twisty tale that kept me guessing to the end.

Special thanks to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for the digital book in exchange for a candid review.

5 FREAKING STARS!! Her writing is amazing and engaging and riveting, Such a well written book that had me thinking about it days after. How do you not fall in love with Meg's character as she journeys through a sick mom, homelessness, and a con artist. The suspense kept me going. Such a great read!

This what not my kind of my book. Predictable and less than thrilling, this book did not intrigue me at all. Some parts were interesting, but overall, it wasn't worth the time..

I found the characters hard to relate to, maybe I just missed something. It all seemed a little too... All men are bad? I don't know. Maybe this just wasn't the book for me. I will not share my review outside of netgalley because I can't find the right words to explain why it didn't resonate for me.

You will not be able to put this book down! It is so freaking good. The storyline seems simple, until you read it, and realize how great the author is at spinning the plot twists up.
