The Lies I Tell by Julie Clark ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I am obsessed with The Last Flight and it is one of my favorite thrillers and this was also highly addictive, full of twists, and the ending payoff was brilliant. Kat and Meg have a complicated history and relationship and seeing it unfold in the present day was such a fun ride. Cannot wait for this one to release and to share this with others!

This domestic thriller was an exciting game of cat and mouse! Easy to read and lot's of twists and turns.

Well thought out plot about two ladies out for revenge. One is looking to punish the person who defrauded her mother and made them lose everything and have to live in their car. The other, once an aspiring journalist, is seeking revenge for a major life-changing event caused by the other lady. The story is told from both perspectives with the reader gaining insight into what drives both women. Who will get their revenge and what will they lose in the process? A good page-turner.

This was okay in my opinion. While this is a fun story, I think it would be suited best for new-to-thriller readers and not those like me who feel they need more gimmicks to make it fun. Which is on me, not on Clark!

I LOVED "The Last Flight" and was so excited to see Julie Clark has another new book out. Kat Roberts has been waiting 10 years to get revenge on Meg Williams who with one phone call, changed Kat's life. When they finally meet, it does not go as planned and Kat is slowly changing her mind on how she feels about Meg. It was such a well written and twisted book that will have you shocked at the end. Great read!

This is going to be a popular book! A cat and mouse game, this is a great light read to blow through in a weekend. Great for fans of domestic and women-led thrillers.

My reading experience with The Lies I Tell was very much like my time with The Last Flight, Julie Clark’s debut thriller. Both feature: Strong and complicated female protagonists with a story to tell, a fast-paced read, and many crazy twists and turns! Also, why are men so terrible?! I didn’t expect to read this in a day, but I was so deeply immersed into the story the second I was introduced to the iconic character, Meg Williams. Ugh, I can’t give anything away, but I truly love her and her cunning tactics!

The Lies I Tell focuses on two women with alternating POV: Meg Williams and Kat Roberts. Meg Williams is a clever con artist who has returned to LA and Kat Roberts is ready to take on a story that could change her life as a reporter. Determined to expose Meg for her wrongdoings, Kat befriends Meg. As the saying goes…“Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer.” Ultimately, I really enjoyed both characters equally. I like that Julie Clark didn’t pin the characters against each other and that secrets and revelations were revealed in vulnerable and satisfying ways. This book will be a great summer thriller read – so excited for Julie Clark and what’s to come! Release date: June 21, 2022

I loved the Last Flight and was eager to start this one. Meg Williams is a con artist and has been known to others as different names. She takes everything, and you realize it when it is too late. Kat Roberts has been waiting 10 years to cross paths with Meg. Meg upended her life, and she is determined to expose her for the con artist she is. They grow close leaving Kat to wonder if everything is as it seems.

At times, this was predictable, but I really enjoyed it. It was hard to see Meg as a con, and I was just as confused as Kat was. Clark really writes Meg as likable and I was almost rooting for her as she struggled to become someone who has a lot from someone who slept in her car.

I enjoyed reading this book so much, Julie Clark's last book 'The Flight Attendant' was good, this book "The Lies I Tell" is great.

I love, love, love any story written from conman's POV.

I was particularly fascinated by one segment of Meg's storyline, and all the small details Julie Clark provided to enrich the reading experience- poor homeless Meg and how determined she was to put a roof over her head. I really enjoyed about reading how she slept in the car, used her workplace's laundry, and how carefully she laid out the trap for Cory. So good, so fun, so interesting.

This was a new author for me and I will definitely be back for more! This book centers around 2 main characters- Meg and Kat. You learn early on that each has their own agenda for revenge. But just who exactly is their target? Thus begins the reader's journey of solving just which of these two characters is to be believed. The story is told through the alternating voices of Meg and Kat and throughout the book, we travel back and forth in time to discover what led each character to this point where their lives intersect. If you are the kind of reader who likes to connect to characters, this is the book for you. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of The Lie I Tell by Julie Clark.

I really enjoyed this book, it was fun to read, and I liked the back and forth between the two main characters. The only problem I had was that for some reason I was constantly mixing the two of them up. Which did cause me to be confused from time to time.

The pacing of this story was on-point: fast-paced and suspenseful, I could not put it down. A fantastic thriller that follows con artist Meg and Kat, the reporter who has been researching her. 5 enthusiastic stars! Julia Clark nails it yet again!

I have had several friends recommend Julie Clark novels to me and I now officially know why! Wooowee, I always like getting lost in a fantastic thriller and The Lies I Tell captivated me from start to finish! Julie Clark brilliantly created a storyline with so many moving parts that you just can’t seem to find a good spot to stop reading for the night—so I literally didn’t lol! The characters were so realistic and gripping that I found myself daydreaming about their situations long after I finished the book! The Lies I Tell is a solid and complete 5 star read and Julie Clark is now on my must read list! After finishing The Lies I Tell, I immediately put her previously released novels on the top of my TBR list!

A con artist can mend their life to be anything they need to be - a real estate agent, teacher, etc. Kat has waited ten years for the con artist who ruined her life to return so she could exact her revenge. Yet when she comes into contact and learns more about her she is more intrigued and works alongside her with the hopes of writing a tell all. This book was a page turning thriller and I highly recommend. A little predictable but totally worth the read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Wow. Just... wow. What a way for me to end a truly tremendous year of reading!
I thought the author's last book (The Last Flight) was great, but this blew it out of the water. It's a well-crafted thriller, with two protagonists that have a little unreliability that I love in a narrator. So many twists and turns that kept me interested throughout- I finished the entire book in just a few hours. I could not put it down. Without spoiling anything, I'll say that the ending was both expected and unexpected, and wholly satisfying for the reader.
I would highly recommend this to others without hesitation.

I loved Last Flight! I wasn’t expecting that dear Julie Clark may write something even better! But she did! She literally rocked my world! Just like Last Flight, she focused on two different women character: one of them is a notorious con woman Meg who ruined reporter, non-published struggling author Kat’s entire world 10 years ago!

I never thought I could love an anti-heroine so much but Meg deserved each praise I may give! She was fighter, survivor, smart, patient, cunning, loyal to girl code, easy to resonate!
Interestingly I loved her more than Kat who is also suffering from big traumatic experience which affected to her relationships, career, life choices.

Meg: with different names and occupations returns back to LA after 10 years she’s been awol for a long time. People thought she left her predator older boyfriend who was taking advantage of under aged high school girls, laundering his money account as a vengeance plan. But Kat knows the real reason behind her abrupt leaving. Her imminent actions already changed Kat’s life. So she waited for her return for years and her patience is rewarded!

Meg returns as real estate agent, probably targeting very powerful politician and Kat is so determined to expose her secrets! Best way to accomplish this mission is keeping her enemy closer, befriending her, working as an assistant of her real estate company.

But what if the monster she thinks is just a survivor, giving the justice by punishing real villains who hurt lots of people! What if Meg is not the bad guy of this scenario?

I couldn’t put this book down. My eyes hurt. My stomach grumbles after seven hours nonstop wild ride ( don’t ask me how to handle my bladder issues) I loved it, loved it and lovveeeeed it!

The smart cameo of Last Flight’s characters at the chapter takes place at airport made me smile a lot!

This is already one of my favorite ( probably it guaranteed its place at my top 5) thrillers of 2022! I highly truly recommend it!

I loved this cat and mouse story that revealed incrementally the relationship between Kat, a journalist and Meg, a con woman, over the course of ten years.
