Sign me up to the Indigo and Esmerelda fan club. This book was a rollicking good time from the first pages and I enjoyed the ride so much. The pace is relentless, the ridiculous conspicuous wealth gobsmacking, the twists and turns just so fun. The second book starring this dynamic duo, I was entertained right up to the last page.
I loved the character development in this story for Indigo especially, she becomes a little more aware of her privileged life and liked that she actually got some sexy-time action in this book (I'm shipping her with the cop, by the way). The story itself is clever and unfolds bit by bit in such an enjoyable way for the reader. I am recommending the Indigo books to everyone now.
Read the first book (Heiress on Fire) and this one if you like: murder mysteries solved by clever women, an Australian setting and a darn good time.
It was such a pleasure to reacquaint myself with Indigo-Daisy-Violet-Amber Hasluck-Royce-Jones-Bombberg and her hilarious personal shopper (sidekick) Esmerelda.
When Indigo ever so gracefully discovers a dead body, the two end up investigating who the dead person was and how he came to be there.
Just like in “Heiress on Fire” these two will have you laughing out loud at the situations they find themselves in.
Kellie McCourt has done an amazing job with her second novel, and I must say it definitely was a Murder Most Fancy.
A fantastic follow up to the previous book Heiress on Fire. I loved the Australian setting and the mystery and comedy style of the writing. I would rate this a four out of five.
When I selected this book I didn't realise that it was a second in a series, and perhaps if I read the first I may have felt differently about this book.
Overall I enjoyed the mystery side of the story, I thought it was clever. On the other hand the constant dropping of brand names REALLY got up my nose. Yes I know Indigo the main character is a very wealthy heiress, but surely I didn't need to know the brand name of every single shoe, top, lotion and cup that Indigo used/wore.
Having said this, the humour was also good in the story and I did chuckle quite a few times. I won't write off the series, but at the moment I may put it to one side.
Thank you Netgalley and Harlequin Australia for the opportunity to review this digital ARC.
Murder Most Fancy, my introduction to the books of Kellie McCourt, has been a delight to read. This book is packed to the rafters with fabulous characters who do astounding things in a story that became more and more intriguing the further I read. I loved Indigo, heiress, investigator and lover of all things high fashion as much as she loved her freshly baked pastries and Happy Meals. Esmeralda, her unlikely personal assistant made for a brilliant sidekick with her amazing ability to preempt her employer’s requests. There was so much in this book to keep me hooked. I laughed, I swooned (Indigo’s lust interests were definitely swoonworthy) and I was totally amazed at the way Indigo and Esmeralda solved the murder at the centre of the story. I can’t wait to see what this pair will do next.
Murder Most Fancy is book number two in the Indigo and Esmeralda series. What could our heiress and felon get up to in this novel? A lot apparently. Within 48 hours of arriving home Idigo finds an unknown body in her Grandmother's backyard. And when I meant found, I mean poor Indigo tripped over the body (there may or may not be video evidence). The police are called to the scene and Indigo finds herself in another police investigation. Nextdoor neighbour Dame Elizabeth Holly and Grandmother enlist the help of Indigo and Esmerlada to find out who this homeless man is and we are taken on an adventure. We are reintroduced to old characters and new ones along the way.
This was such a fun fast paced read and I can’t wait to see what other adventures await both Indigo and Esmeralda.
Thank you Harlequin Australia and Netgalley for a copy of this book for my honest review.
Murder Most Fancy is a quirky murder mystery whereby billion-heiress Indigo-Daisy-Violet-Amber Hasluck-Royce-Jones-Bombberg stumbles upon a dead body, literally.
I went into this novel without knowing it was the second book in the series, though luckily never felt that I was missing context. I unfortunately, however, found this book hard to pick back up and felt like DNFing it quite a lot while I was reading, I felt that many parts were drawn out and unnecessarily long. Furthermore, the beginning wasn’t entirely gripping and I needed to push myself to keep reading past the first few chapters.
Indigo saves the day. Brilliantly written, fun & laugh out loud story of Australia. Heiress Indigo and her adventure to solve a crime. If you love Janet Evanovich, you’ll love Kellie’s writing style and storyline. A must read for cozy fans.
Thanks #netgalley for the advanced copy.
