I really enjoyed this improbable but sweet romance between a Hollywood actor and his bodyguard. After dealing with the death of her mother and a breakup with her boyfriend, Hannah Brooks throws herself into her work as a bodyguard for a private agency. Her skills are highly in demand and she talks about being professional and tough. However she is put into a situation where the only way to guard her client is to pretend to be his girlfriend.

The author did a nice job of taking this familiar trope and creating several unexpected twists that make their romance more believable and added elements of realistic secondary characters that you root for in addition to the main characters. I liked that each of the characters was allowed to grow and show more than one dimension.

Overall this was a fun, fast read!

There are not enough good things I can say about Katherine Center’s writing. Her books make my heart happy and The Bodyguard just might be my favorite to date. The characters were deeply complex and undeniably lovable. Hannah is an absolute badass and she and Jack both break stereotypes around their perceived personas. The storyline was perfectly paced between character building and excitement. There isn’t a single thing I didn’t love about this book and When it is officially released in July I will 100% be adding a hard copy to my shelf.

This is my third Katherine Center book and it did not disappoint. I read it in a day. I love reading romances, but like them more when there is a dash of a more serious topic, which The Bodyguard has (sick parent, hidden family secrets, stalkers). Something that Katherine Center's books do that I don't see other authors doing is centering the main character's identify around their job and how it influences how they make choices and interact with other people. Personally, I like this and think that it is realistic.

I enjoyed reading about Hannah and Jack's relationship, and Hannah finding family within Jack's family. I thought the plot moved well. I thought some of the things Robby and Taylor said to Hannah were at time over the top mean or ridiculous, and felt like that that side story could have been less clunky. I understood that the point was to drive home the 'Hannah believes she's unlovable' theme, but I think it could have been tamped down.

Overall, I would recommend The Bodyguard. Also, I love the cover.

4.5 A celebrity and a female bodyguard. Sold. I knew I had to read this book. I almost finished it in one sitting. It was so good that I didn't want to put it down. It was such a great rom-com. Warning, it does deal with some heavy subjects. It still manages to feel like a light read to me but I wanted to mention that. I loved the characters. I loved the twists. It kept me entertained from start to finish.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to St. Martins Press for providing me this arc via Netgalley!
Wow, first of all, thank you Katherine Center for getting me out of one of the biggest reading slumps in my life. I have not read a book in over half a year, but yesterday during a flight I remembered I had this one to review. Thanks to it, the day went by so smoothly.
I have read two other books by the same author, and have thouroghly enjoyed them, but this one takes the win. The writing is witty and funny, the plot is original and the characters are amazing. This just became one of my favorite contemporary romances ever.
Drop what you're doing, and read it - you will NOT regret it.

Another great Katherine Center book!

Not sure if I'm getting used to her style, or if she took a slightly different approach with this one, but I didn't find the main character quite as frustratingly naive as I have the protagonists of past KC books.

Hannah is an Executive Protection Agent who just lost her mother and was dumped by her boyfriend within a (very) short amount of time. After some mandatory downtime, she is finally allowed to join the team on a new assignment. Only, instead of escaping to an exotic locale, she is assigned to protect Hollywood A-lister Jack Stapleton only a short drive away from Houston.

Hannah is all business, but Jack's easy-going demeanor soon breaks through her shell. She tries hard not to fall for him, but it isn't easy. Is he actually into her, or is he just that good of an actor? Before she can figure it out for sure, Jack's stalker amps up the danger level, and Hannah is pulled from the assignment.

Excellent setting, good pacing, snappy dialogue, and, of course, a perfect HEA ending. Definitely recommended to readers who enjoy any/all of those elements.

A cute and warm romcom. Definitely for those who are fans of lighthearted romance. This occasionally gave off immature vibes. Overall, I could see this on screen for Netflix.

“you don’t have to be perfect to be lovable”
This is my first Read by Katherine Center and I’m now an official fan and will be checking out all her books. I loved her writing and the way she developed her characters.
Hannah and Jacks relationship throughout the book kept me wanting more. I enjoy a book that when it’s put down you keep thinking about what’s going to happen next, where is this going? And did I predict the twists? This book had it all for me.
I really found all the topics addressed in the book as heavy as they can be to be light hearted and relatable.
Hannah is now one my top favorite female characters in a book. She was relatable while dealing with her own struggles.
Can’t wait for more by this author

I was very excited to receive an ARC copy of The Bodyguard from NetGalley. This is my fifth book that I have read by Katherine Center and I am a huge fan. I really liked that Hannah was an average girl, doing an not so average job by being a bodyguard for a big time celebrity. It was an enjoyable romcom and Katherine Center hits the mark again. This would be a great book to read at the beach or over the summer. It comes out in July.

Thank you for allowing me to read and review this book. However, I just didn’t love this story. I’ve read most all of her books and loved them all but this one just seemed too juvenile to me.

I will read anything that Katerine Center writes! This newest release did not disappoint and I stayed up way too late finishing it (which is always a sign of a great book, in my opinion)! I can't recommend it enough.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for a digital ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is definitely going in my favorite romance books of all time. That might sound excessive but I adored this novel. I read it in one day and that never happens for me.

To start off I loved the whole aspect of “The Bodyguard”. I’ve always wanted a bodyguard novel that wasn’t overly sexual and less wattpad style. I finally got what I was looking for. We really got to see the characters become emotionally connected and wasn’t over saturated by their sexual connection.

I really enjoyed both the main characters. It made me so happy to see Jack bring out the sunshine in Hannah and for her to bring out the giggles in Jack. I can’t wait to grab a physical copy on release day!!

I found The Bodyguard hard to relate too, which made it less fun to read. Some of the characters were great (her boss Glen, coworkers Doghouse and Kelly, Jack) but Robby and Taylor suck (especially Robby), and Hannah is confusing! She's a by-the-book professional one second, but quitting spontaneously over petty drama the next. It doesn't track... If you ignore that, and get a few chapters in, the plot makes up for the confusing main character and horrible side-characters, slightly. A fun trope, and a mix of action into a romantic comedy. Overall I enjoyed it, but it was definitely confusing.

The author does a great job of writing books that are laugh out loud funny. However they are also very emotional and so heartwarming.I highly recommend the Bodyguard! You will not be disappointed.
Read and loved all of Katherine Centers books.

If you absolutely loved Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality or Melissa McCarthy in The Heat, then I have no doubt you will fall for Katherine Center’s upcoming release, The Bodyguard.

Right off the bat, I loved the role reversal in The Bodyguard, with Hannah being a deadly weapon charged with protecting the sexy, swoony actor. Her personality and the way she handles what life throws at her had me laughing out loud with every turn of the page. Jack was such a sweetheart and he complimented Hannah so well - it was easy to root for them and as their fake relationship progressed, each of them coming into their own in such a beautiful way.

Katherine Center does such a fantastic job of writing books that are laugh-out-loud funny, but also emotional and heartwarming. The Bodyguard is no exception and it’s one I highly recommend!

This had an absolutely ridiculous premise and completely predictable story but I really enjoyed it. There was a twist towards the end that I wasn’t expecting at all, which added to my enjoyment!! Not a perfect book or a five-star read but I’d recommend it to anyone needing something quick, light, and easy to read.

I had so much fun reading this sweet novel. Netflix adaptation all the way! Was it realistic? Hardly, but I figured that going in.

Hannah is an Executive Security Agent hired to protect movie star Jack Stapleton. Jack is home in Texas to visit his sick mother and he has a stalker. A corgi-loving, knitting freak who sends him sweaters with his face on it.

In order to not upset mom, Hannah agrees to pretend to be Jack’s girlfriend in order to protect him. The attraction between them becomes real, but Hannah can’t tell if this beautiful man is acting or if he really likes her.

I laughed out loud many times and really like both Hannah and Jack.

I loved this easy breezy read because the author intended the story to be exactly what it was; a charming, funny, sweet story.

"'I'm not pretending,' said Jack. 'Not anymore.'"

This book was a delight to read. It felt like I was watching the best of romcoms. It has some beloved tropes like fake dating, slow burn, and one bed in a unique scenario: Hannah works as a bodyguard for famous, powerful, and rich people, even though she looks like a middle-grade teacher, and is hired to protect the well-known Hollywoodian actor Jack Stapleton.
Even though they come from very different worlds, they have funny, cute, and lighthearted banter and interactions. Hannah is a serious and professional woman, but her inner thoughts are hilarious. I was totally laughing with Jack at her reactions and lines. I loved the development of their relationship, the inclusion of his family in the storyline, and even the little action scene at the end. I'd recommend this book to fans of Meg Cabot and Sophie Kinsella.
