The drowning girls by Lisa Regan.
Detective Josie Quinn book 13.
A knock on the door late in the evening can only mean trouble for Detective Josie Quinn, but fear chokes her at the news that the one of her own team is missing. No one has seen Denton PD’s beautiful Press Liaison Amber for days. Sweet-natured and totally dedicated to the job, she’d never let her colleagues down. A message scrawled on the frosted windscreen of Amber’s car leads Josie to a nearby dam. But the body they pull from the water is not Amber…
I really enjoyed this book great story and characters. 5*.

Detective Josie Quinn has a habit of risking her life to save others, and she's at. it again. In this new book, Josie and her team are chasing a mysterious killer who seems to have a vendetta, but they are struggling to understand it. When one of their own, Amber, goes missing, everyone realizes how little they actually know about their colleague and girlfriend of Mettner. When two women (Amber's sister and mother) are found murdered at a local dam, the investigation races to find Amber and the murderer/s. What does all of this have to do with the mega-church set to open in town and its charismatic leader? While Josie is trying to fit all the puzzle pieces together, the friends and family of her and Noah gather at their home to celebrate the holidays. Will they get the crimes solved in time? It's a great read with lots of twists and turns.

For a change Josie Quinn is telling somebody else to stick to the rules. This from somebody that has a record of not sticking to the rules herself is hard to take by her coworker that can’t stay clear when his girlfriend goes missing. I liked all of the Josie Quinn series but I think this is the best one so far. We have a real twisted mystery and the ending will take you by surprise
The book in this series can be read as a stand-alone but in each book we see a bit more development of the personality of each of the individual characters and their background.
This been book 13 in the series you might be worried that you might get a lot of repeat information and the stories become boring. Not so with Lisa Regan’s books who seems to have a bottomless pit of new story lines for the Denton police force. I’m already looking forward to book 14

Great addition to the Josie Quinn series! Like all books in the series, this novel can be read as a stand-alone and readers can jump into the series at any point. Reagan does an impeccable job at building tension and foreboding, while at the same time bringing a strong sense of unity to her characters.

Thanks to NetGalley for the arc of #TheDrowningGirls, which was read and reviewed voluntarily.

Josie Quinn, a detective in the small town of Denton, Pennsylvania, is enjoying some family time over the holidays. The festive gathering is interrupted by a knock at the door – usually not good news at night. Finn Mettner, a fellow detective, is concerned about his girlfriend and Denton’s police force liaison, Amber. He hasn’t heard from her for several days, which is unusual. He’s let his concern lead him to make some poor choices, and now not only are Josie and the rest of the team trying to figure out what happened to Amber, they’ve got to question whether Finn was involved.

Finn convinces Josie and Noah to come with him to Amber’s house, and a clue written in the frost on her car’s windshield leads them to the local dam. When it becomes clear that there’s a person in the water chute of the dam, and that she’s alive, Josie flings herself headfirst into danger to try to save her.

Amber’s family is a mystery until Josie starts digging, and what she finds is unsettling. The childhood diary in Amber’s desk with Josie’s name written on a Post-It note stuck to it, and the strange numbers inside, are a puzzle to be solved. And once it becomes clear that members of Amber’s family, estranged or not, are being targeted as the body count rises, time becomes of the essence. They’ve got to find Amber, if she’s still alive, before it’s too late.

Lisa Regan is a master of the tautly drawn crime thriller, and this, the thirteenth in the series, is no exception. This book grabbed me from the get-go and it was pedal to the metal all the way through. And it’s not all action and shoot ’em up. Josie is still struggling with the death of her grandmother Lisette, and we see her working through that, growing and getting stronger. The character development is one of the things I enjoy most about Ms. Regan’s writing. Her characters are very much three-dimensional, and we get to know more about them as the series progresses.

This was a pretty convoluted plot, too! There were a lot of people involved, and many of them were not what they first appeared to be. From Amber’s parents and aunt to the preacher of the new megachurch in town, everyone had something to hide. I love a book where I don’t see the twist coming, and I really didn’t pick up on it here.

As long as Ms. Regan keeps writing, I will keep reading. Good stuff right here. Five stars, well deserved.

I feel I say the same things every time there is a new book to the Detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan because the series is still going strong! Each book gets better and better, and I love Josie more with each one.

What I loved

With each book, Lisa Regan creates an exciting, unique plot that has me clicking the pages as fast as I can.

With each book, Josie continues to grow and develop. I love that each book's past and new characters create a great sense of family and a strong team.

This series is still going strong for Debra and DeAnn, and I love sharing our love for this series and Josie with them.

3 reasons to read this series

For the character development and dynamics between characters
For a fresh, unpredictable plot with plenty of twists and turns, you might or might not see coming
After reading one, you will want to read the next right away.

I love Lisa Regan, but I wasn’t too crazy about this book, I think it was more the plot than the writing I had issues with, because Lisa is a very good writer,

Fast-paced, engrossing investigation with a strong cast of characters - I feel I know these people. The series stays strong, but can be read stand alone if you haven't followed (although recommend the series, I mean really). Quick read since you won't put it down - complex plots that keep you pulled in.

Not fully recovered from a family tragedy, Josie is floored when a member of her team goes missing. Clues lead her to raging waters when she tries to save press liaison Amber’s life. Devastation when she fails to save her is quickly replaced by shock when it is discovered that the victim is not Amber.

Josie learned about Amber’s disappearance from Finn Mettner, another member of her team. He is currently dating Amber but tells Josie that they recently had a fight. Could he be responsible for both the woman found dead in the water and to whatever possibly happened to Amber?

Josie had a very disturbing past and she cannot stop worrying about what Amber could be going through. Josie has very few clues to work with but she pushes through with relentless determination. When anther murder happens it is clear that there is a connection to whatever is going on.

The scene of the first murder soon leads to events of a dozen years ago. Was Amber keeping secrets from all of them? Is Mettner lying to Josie and her team as they seek answers? I have truly loved this series and while this thrilling book could be read as a standalone I must say that getting to know Josie was pivotal when it comes to understanding her drive when it comes to solving even the most heinous crimes. Her past, her marriage, her relationship to her team - it all comes together when it comes to understanding Josie and her passionate work ethic. And the fact that it is a cherished team member pushes Josie even harder. Lisa Regan definitely hit it out of the park with this 13th book in this stellar series.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book via NetGalley and for letting me take part in this tour. This is the 13th book in the Josie Quinn series. Josie has come a long way since that very first book. While Josie is still reckless and as badass as ever. However, she does have more regard for the rules nowadays. Josie is still carrying a lot of grief and it comes across as to just how painful that is for her. I absolutely loved the last scene of the book which really shows you how far Josie has come. It might have even brought a little tear to my eye.

When one of their own goes missing the police take it very personally and will always stop at nothing to find them. As the case progresses more and more is discovered about Amber's past and I don’t think anyone would have guessed that the PR officer had such a dark past.

As usual, Lisa kept me right on the edge with this one. I was tense and so nervous for Amber and quite frankly all of the team. Lisa isn’t afraid to put some of our favourite characters in danger which of course stresses me out!

This was a thrilling addition to the series! Josie Quinn is one of my all-time favourite detectives and I cannot wait for her next story!

I have not read all the books in this series I've dipped in and out but I will say everyone that I have read I have enjoyed and this one is no different.

This book was high on the “sleep deprivation” scale as you cannot stop reading once you start.
It’s adrenaline fuelled, fast paced, twisty and unputdownable.
It starts with a BANG and never stop adding twists, surprises. Each twists raise new questions and you never know what will happen.
I was on the edge till the last chapters and turned pages as fast as I could.
Josie is back, a bit less emotional than in the last stories, even if the story brings back memories and the people involved are part of her team.
The author did an excellent job in describing the dynamics of a team under stress and of the toxic relationships and characters.
You cannot help feeling for the characters and Josie and rooting for the best solution.
I was surprised, entertained and loved this story, one of the best in this series so far.
There’s plenty of darkness in this story but there’s also friendship, team work and the joint effort of a team to solve the mystery and save one of them.
I can’t wait to read the next instalment, this one is strongly recommended.
Many thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

I love this series. I always feel like I am catching up with the team as I read the new installment in the series. This latest read was filled with twists and turns and more than one red herring that I fell for. I really like that with all Josie has been through and now being married to Noah, she is still flawed and trying to improve. I’ve grown to like the entire team and was rooting that they find Amber alive and that Mettner was not somehow involved.

I didn’t want to put this one down. It’s fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat. If you like police procedurals and you haven’t read these books, do yourself a favor and read them from the beginning. Any one of the books could be read as a stand alone, but I think you’ll appreciate them so much more as a whole.

Wow, this author has done it again, what a riveting read!
If you enjoy crime thrillers this is a book that you need!
It may be the thirteenth in this series, it's true,
But this will work as a standalone, too.

Detective Josie Quinn can't believe it when
A member of her team goes missing again.
This is the start of an investigation and a race
As other family members go missing from their place.

With another member of the team as a potential suspect, too,
And Amber's hidden diary providing a weird clue,
Josie and the team need to decipher what it means
Can they find Amber? That remains to be seen!

What a family crime drama filled with mystery,
Secrets, revenge, crimes and history.
As Christmas approaches, can they solve it all
Before Santa is due to call?

I love the characters, complete with their flaws
And the plot twists that make you give pause.
It is a page turner and such a great read
Crime thriller readers, this is one that you need!

For my complementary copy of this book, I say thank you,
I throughly enjoyed reading it and this is my honest review.

A good crime thriller! Josie is determined to solve the latest crime while people are being murdered all around her. Will she be able to solve it in time to save her coworker? Enjoyed this!

Detective Josie Quinn was on a day off, home with her family surrounding her, apart from her husband Noah, who was on a shift, when someone knocked on the door. When she saw Detective Finn Mettner standing there, distraught and needing Josie to go with him, she had no idea of what was ahead of her and the whole Devon team. Mettner’s girlfriend and Denton Police Department’s Press Liaison person, Amber, was missing and the only clue they had was a time and the name of a nearby dam.

Josie risked her life to reach the young woman trapped on the rocks when the gates were released to send a wall of raging water down into the river, but it was too late. She was washed away – but when her body was found, they realized it wasn’t Amber. Who was the young woman who had lost her life at the dam? As the freezing weather continued and the snow laden blizzard caused chaos, Josie, Gretchen, Noah and the Chief worked day and night to find the answers. And what they found shocked them to the core. But the clock was ticking. Was Amber alive, or were they yet to find her body? After all, with two bodies and one missing person, Josie had no idea what was ahead…

The Drowning Girls is the 13th in the Detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan and once again it was a thrilling, chilling ride! Fast paced, breathtaking and intense, the team always work well together, pushing themselves until they get the answers they need. I love Josie’s character; she’s strong, courageous and compassionate, determined to do the right thing, always. I’m looking forward to #14 already! Highly recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

Whew! Lisa Regan scores yet another "hit!" Her Josie Quinn stories are full of excitement, anger, disappointment and finally, resolution! I've read all 13 of her books and it seems that her character has evolved in a great way. She never lets her guard down. She has moments where she questions her decisions, and yet, when all is said and done, she solves whatever issues are at hand!

Lisa Regan, I want more Josie Quinn! Thank you #NetGalley#Lisa Regan for providing AC! Loved it!
