Cambion’s Law is a book filled with fascinating characters and a fresh storyline. Our MC is a bit insecure about herself but I hope to see Lily’s character development and growth as the series continues and I feel it has potential it was an enjoyable read.

There were so many great things about this book! I loved Lily and her no-nonsense attitude. My favorite kinds of characters are the ones who don't always make perfect choices, but try so hard to do the right thing, even when they aren't entirely sure what that is. And Sebastian. I loved that he was the human half of their dynamic, but damn if he didn't hold his own against the demons. I was completely invested in the mystery. I had a whole theory about who the killer was and let's just say I was thoroughly wrong.

Thank you to the publisher and author as well as netgalley for allowing me access to this eARC of this book and allowing me to give feedback and read books in exchange for a review.

This is book one in a sci-fi fantasy adult series, I have not read from this author before so I was a little bit nervous but she did not disappoint at all. This was great a strong female lead and an adventurous story that you need to buckle in for, I loved it.

This book was really good. I was drawn in by the description and cover art. The story kept me engaged and I could not put the book down. There are times when we should trust our instincts and other times we can throw caution to the wind.

You will not want to put the book down and will long for part two.

First book of 2022 down. This was a good one, and I was kind of expecting it not to be. There's so much subpar urban fantasy out there.

Lily is an interesting character, a (half-human) succubus who's gone a bit vegan, refusing to hunt and feed on human prey. She likes her life, she likes her job, and she just wants to be normal. But then a shadow of her past comes back to haunt her, and everything goes to shit.

The writing in this was good. I quite liked this bit:
"I descended into Limbo via a public elevator redolent of urine and despair. The fluorescent light above my head spit and flickered in an uneven rhythm that sparked an answering throb in my temples. The elevator car thumped, shuddered, and considered its options for a long moment before the doors opened and it disgorged me into the underworld."

It wasn't perfect. Truth be told, I was slightly disappointed that a book about a succubus contained so few sexy bits, but that's perhaps a me thing. If you are looking for sexy bits, look elsewhere.

I would have liked a bit more emotional connection and a bit more of that delicious pull to flip the pages and find out what comes next. The book is well-written, and I did want to keep reading it, but it wasn't that driven-by-a-motor NEED to know what happens.

Additionally, the red herring didn't really have sufficient, or any, plausible motivation. It isn't explained. It's just used as a tool to draw the eye and then forgotten. The villain's motivations are also not explained. Things were wrapped up well enough, but I don't feel any significant pull to read the next one, despite this being a 4 star read for me.

Given my recent interest in the court system, I was hooked by up and coming prosecutor Lilly Knight, a half succubus moonlighting as an ordinary human in San Francisco. That is, until she trips over a succubus corpse in the park and is dragged into a string of murders, a rushed prosecution, and too many secrets with a handsome knew acquaintance and an insufferable old friend. This NA fantasy romance stands alone while leaving strong hooks for the sequel.

I like UF because it brings magic into the real world. I have encountered too many meh-books and too few shiny gems, and still, I can't resist the pull of this genre.

The description of Cambion's Law caught my interest, and I couldn't help requesting an ARC.
This book should have been right up my alley, but, despite some interesting elements, I didn’t connect with it as much as I wanted to.
To be honest, I found it quite boring (or at least not as compelling as I would have expected - it's all a matter of expectations, after all) and a bit confusing.

I liked how our MC, Lily, seeing the official channels failing, decided to take justice into her own hand. However, the execution of the mystery part was quite lacking. Lily was no Sherlock, dismissing some oh-so-obvious leads and never asking the apt questions.

I was aware this book, peppered with succubi and incubi, was meant to revolve - at least a bit - around desire and sex. However, I couldn't feel any chemistry between Lily and Sebastian since their relationship seemed merely a way to satisfy their mutual hunger than anything deeper.

I really tried with this book, and I feel awful not having finished it, especially considering I received an ARC, which I am extremely grateful for.
However, life is too short (and my to-be-read list too long) to linger in a book I just couldn’t get into at all.

Some really strong characters and brilliant twists and turns I really did not see coming. Great mix of fantasy and modern world. Can't wait to read the next one!

I was first drawn to this book because of the cover, and then I read the blurb. Sounded right up my alley so I dived in. This was an interesting take on cambions/Nephilim, and I thought the characters were very interesting. Lily is a wounded soul for a couple of reason we know about, and probably ones we have yet to learn. Sebastian was more of an enigma, but I’m hoping we learn more about him and Danny in future books. While this book wasn’t perfect as I wish we knew the characters and their pasts better and I’m still not sure about the place in the desert (don’t want to give away spoilers), this series has a lot of potential. The ending was a perfect intro, too, for the next book. Give this one a try! Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
