This is a shorter Christmas paranormal that has good characters and a fun setting. Lilly hates Callum for evicting her grandmother from her home of 40 years. He has a good reason but can't tell Lilly because the 3 baby werewolves have no control and they Lilly's grandmother might see something. A cute story with yummy cookies and cupcake recipes at the end. If you check out this book. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I received this book for free for an honest review from netgalley #netgalley

Silly but cute. I'm happy I gave it a chance

This was a very cute idea, however, it was too short and would have benefited from a little more plot and character development.

Werewolves Prefer Shortbread (Christmas Cookies). Dakota Issacs. 2021. The Wild Rose Press, Inc.

Werewolves Prefer Shortbread is the first time I’ve read Dakota Issacs and it was an entertainingly sweet short read. It seems like that while it is a part of The Wild Rose Press’ series, Christmas Cookies, that this installment is a complete stand alone. While that is a bummer, as overall it would benefit from an expanded world, Callum and Lily’s story still had charm. And such a cute cover!

This book is terrible.

An ARC from Netgalley, which is how I get most of my books these days, I picked up this one because it sounded cute and I've been in the mood for holiday romances as of late.

I regret this decision.

Where to begin? We're given a muddled background that Callum McAllister is from Scotland but he had to leave to his place in the US for some reason why bringing thee werewolf pups with him that he rescued from an orphanage. He has the hots for the local bakeshop owners who has done amazing things and yet is only 23! There is also the plot line of a McAllister kicking out the baker's grandmother from the cottage on his property and that plot line was immediately forgotten.

This is all in the first few pages mind.

The book is short, thank god, but the action is so haphazard and the explanation of why things are the way they are leaves one wanting. There is no chemistry between the protagonists and no conflict.

I don't get how people are giving this five stars. It's totally a masterclass in how not to write.

Isaacs does not have a social media presence that I could fine. There is a Dakota Isaacs whose VP or something or another but their Twitter doesn't mention any of the Dakota Isaacs the author books. Oh yes readers, Isaacs has gifted us all with more stories. Thank god they digital because they are not worthy of the paper they would be printed on.

Totally, absolutely, do not recommend.

This was a super quick read that had everything you need (minus the smut) to make a wonderful Christmas read.

Callum has recently become the guardian for a bunch of young girls. Sounds weird, but when you throw in the fact that they are all shifters, all bound to hide themselves from outsiders, it makes a lot more sense. Unfortunately, to Lily, the woman who had her grandmother evicted from Callum's property upon his arrival, it makes less sense. Their feud begins there, and fireworks start.

Lily is the local baker, known for her awesome cookies and whatnot. She's surprised when the evil-doer, Callum, shows up one day and buys some of her treats. Throw in some further misunderstandings, some attraction, adorable kids, and you have the making for a reluctant romance that spirals out of control. The "out of control" part is really what ends up testing them both. I loved this sweet, short story and would gobble up a dozen!

Thank you to Net galley for allowing me to read this prior to publication.

This was a cute short story. I feel like I had higher expectations from it. It sounded Interesting and The cover fascinated me. However the story wasn't really that good.

Callum has recently moved from Scotland to the US, to a very large house he has inherited, where he can raise the three girls he’s recently adopted. Unfortunately, these girls need a significant amount of privacy, because like Callum, they are werewolves, and to get that privacy, Callum had to evict the old lady who has lived in the caretaker's house for 40 years. Granny doesn’t hold a grudge (she’s living large in Manhattan now), but granddaughter Lily, owner of a small bakery in town, still can. Until she gets to know Callum and the girls, that is!

This was absolutely adorable! I found it while browsing on NetGalley and took a chance. You may have heard once or twice that I’m not the biggest fan of novellas...but I am generally a fan of short stories. At 44 pages, this is as short as it is sweet, with a tiny little plot arc, a decent bit of worldbuilding, and some really intriguing characters. I’d love to read a little more in this world, whether with the same characters or others in the werewolf clan. Plus, there are a couple of cookie recipes in the back!

Werewolves Prefer Shortbread is one of a set of 51 books in the Christmas Cookies collection.
This was truly a short and fun book to read. Lily and Callum have a definite chemistry between them.
The recipe in the book will send you to buy the ingredients and make this yummy dessert.
Thank you NetGalley and The Wild Rose Press, Inc for the copy. This is my personal review.

Thanks to Netgalley and publishers for this eARC.

Werewolves Prefer Shortbread is a lovely chick lit romance short story.
It follows baker and owner of the cookie shop Emily and werewolf Callum.
Emily doesn't like Callum, she thinks he's a big shot who evicted her Grams.
Callum, who is obviously hiding a secret is intrigued by Emily.
The story is from both characters POV which is good as you get an insight into each character, though sometimes the writing did throw me as it seemed to be set in past tense and present tense.. This didn't effect the enjoyment of the story though.
Werewolves Prefer Shortbread is a typical enemies to lovers. It mixes supernatural element with a romance story, that's not over the top and gives cozy familyish feels.
I did enjoy this little story and loved the recipes at the end of the book.

Cute holiday novella about Scottish werewolf shifter, Callum, and Lily, an exceptional human baker. Lily is furious that Callum evicted her grandmother from her cottage on his property. He had to since he's adopted three little girls who can't control their shifting yet. When he shows up in her bakery, she's livid and when he makes a remark about her shortbread selection Lily starts revenge baking. I really enjoyed this fun enemies to lovers story.

Such a sweet albeit short read that made me smile. Callum is the Werewolf who has recently arrived in town determined to do anything to keep his three young wards safe. Sadly he has got on the wrong side of Lily, the woman of his dreams but with Christmas around the corner and cute but interfering family around maybe a happy ending is possible ?
I really enjoyed this although I do feel the end felt a little rushed. Likeable characters with just enough humour to keep my interest. Plus the author includes a couple of recipes so definitely a book I'm glad I read.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Going in know it's important to know two things: 1. This is a novella!! 2. It's part of a much larger novella Christmas Cookies series which you can get on Amazon, it's like 50 some books none of which are related to each.

I truly enjoyed this book, while short, the banter and chemistry between Callum and Lily flies off the pages at you. The backstory of how Callum and his brother came into taking care of three orphan girls made my heart sore and how Lily is just so taken with them. The worldbuilding and character building is amazing for a short story and I would give anything to know more about these characters and what happens with the girls. A wonderful holiday read.

This was a charming, romantic read about an exceptionally talented baker who meets a charming young man who is raising his adorable three young nieces - who love, love, love her cookies and cupcakes. I would have liked a few of those myself - they sounded scrumptious and were so beautifully decorated.

The problem with the charming young man is that he is also the man who evicted her and her Grandmother from the house they had lived in for decades. He is naturally not her favorite person, even though her Grandmother is having a ball in New York City.

This is a very short read, and I would have liked an extra chapter or two towards the end, but I recommend it. Be prepared to be wistful about baked goods for a while.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a review copy of this book. It was a pleasure to read and review it.

Callum is attracted to Lily but she hates him because of what he did to her Grandmother. Yet she is attracted to him also. Can he change her mind without revealing his secret. Cute book.

Okay what’s with the tartan trousers he’s Scottish but normally they put them in a kilt, okay this book would have been an amazing read but something was just blocking me with getting into it I think it’s because it was so short and maybe there could have been more.

I liked Callum and his kids, it’s a very cute read but I just wasn’t really in the mood to read it.

What a fun read! I greatly enjoyed reading about a baker and the lovely treats she created. The relationship with Callum and his adopted children was adorable. This book will make you want cookies, a cup of tea and romance. A longer book would have made it even more enjoyable.
