I enjoyed reading this book. I'm thankful to have read this for free as, it is a good resource to have for writers of every skill and age.

I have not technically completed this journal as it contains journalling prompts for all 52 weeks of the year. However, asides from quarterly extras, these prompts remain the same and so I'm classing this as read despite continuing to complete the prompts.

I have dropped a star rating due to the repeated nature of these prompts. This remains a thoughtful and valuable resource but I personally would have preferred less weekly prompts on a larger variety of themes.

I recommend this wonderful journal if this is the year you want to make serious writing goals and hold yourself accountable to meeting them. This book, by a woman and writing coach who claims to have written 19 books published in four countries in the past four years, is more than a journal; it's a guide to looking at what blocks you've put in your own path, what you hope to achieve as a writer, and what steps you need to take to get there. Each week's goal-setting begins with a quote about the creative process (each one inspiring and worthy of journal reflection in its own right) and then asks similar questions to prompt you to reflect on your writing over the past week: what do you need to vent about, what did you achieve, what didn't you achieve, what can you do to achieve your goals next week, what have you learned about yourself this week, are you asking enough of yourself, and so on. Each week ends with an optional writing prompt. The tone of the journal is supportive but full of tough-love; if you aren't excited about what you've been writing, why not? What do you need to do to feel more excited about what you write next week. Are your goals realistic or setting you up for failure.

I read this book as an ARC provided by Netgalley, and it is available as an ebook, but I think it would be best purchased as a hard copy journal.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I did enjoy how it was broken up into weeks and had writing prompts. It made me think of the reasons I started writing in the first place and why I have continued to write all of these years. There was a lot of writing self-discovery with each new week. It has kept me going back for each new week and being able to get me to reflect on the direction my writing is going. It was useful tool for me and I need that little extra push to think about my writing.

This is a guided journal for writers and those who dream of being writers. It is comprised of weekly writing prompts with "bigger" quarterly prompts to keep you from miring down and losing sight of your writing goals. Smith is also the author of "Tarot for Creatives: 21 Tarot Spreads to (Re)Connect to Your Intuition and Ignite that Creative Spark" and I'm looking forward to checking that one out as well. I am planning to use "52 Weeks" as a resource in the Journaling for Self-Care program I'm doing in July. The coaching she provides in this journal/planner is excellent. This is a no-guilt, no-shame guided journal--she never browbeats the writer and I think that's a huge issue for people. Many folks begin journaling or keeping a diary and miss a few days or weeks and feel that they've failed. While the goal of this guided journal is to keep going week after week and have an accountability partner on paper, you're not made to feel like you need to give up if you're not meeting your goals. Highly recommended.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Thank you, Mariëlle S. Smith, and NetGalley for my advance copy of this handy writer's tool. I have a serious problem with procrastination and not finishing anything (same thing?) and am ALWAYS searching for that next new planner/organizer that will have the magical word combination capable of shoving me past my character defects.

The writerly quotes sprinkled throughout the journal are educational, inspiring, and pleasantly free of time-wasting pap. There is plenty of space for writing out projected and captured writing goals on the Tracking and Planning pages, and the weekly writing prompts are far more imaginative than many of the generic writing prompt journals I've read. There's a lot of talk about guided journals using brain science because they get your emotions on board to power you up and this is one of them.

I love that it's undated -- so no wasted pages. If you miss a week or 4 (or however long the dry period lasts) you're still in the next week in the journal--no failing!

Overall, for what you get, it's a great investment in yourself and your writing. The print copy retails for $34.99 which is less than the cost of one session with a counselor, a digital copy is under $10. I'd buy this one.

No matter what your age or your life path, whether making art is your career or your hobby or your dream, it is not too late or too egotistical or too selfish or too silly to work on your creativity. - JULIA CAMERON

I think this quote (from Week 1) sums up pretty well the core of this book.
If you have picked '52 Weeks' up, it's because you have dreamt of writing a novel, but somehow your project is still in your head and/or struggles to take off.
I don't think that this book will make you a writer for sure, but it will surely encourage you to define your goals and stick to them, helping your writing career to move forward.

I cannot wait to get my grubby little journal nerd paws on a physical copy of this book.

This is such a simple, brilliant method. I love how Smith breaks everything down to a practical, granular level. I can really see how working through this journal week by week would simulate having an actual writing coach.

I also liked how the whimsy of the quotes from famous authors and the writing prompt at the end of every week’s section served to spark creatively and kept the practical questionnaire portion from feeling too rote.

If you’re at all interested in journals and stationary and planners, it’s a safe bet you'll love this. And if you’re not but you’re struggling with your writing, give it a try - you’ve got nothing to lose, right?

First, I want to thank the author/publisher for the opportunity to review the ARC for this book. I'm grateful for this opportunity, but the following review is completely my own and not impacted by their generosity.

Second, let's get to my review. I was not familiar with the previous two volumes of Mariëlle S. Smith's 52 Weeks of Writing journal/Planners. As someone who always loves the idea of using a good journal/planner, but has a horrible habit of following through (just ask the stack of planners I have next to my desk), I'm always looking for a tool I think could be really useful. I definitely see the utility in Smith's 52 Weeks of Writing Author Journal and Planner, Vol. III: Get out of your own way and become the writer you're meant to be.

Basically, it's a planner and journal combination that's designed to help you think through your writing goals for a 52 week period. There are places for weekly goals and reflections. Do I think this planner is breaking new ground? No. But then, I don't think most planners are breaking new ground. What I do think this journal/planner does is provide a space for author's to concretely keep track of their goals and successes. As an author myself, I know how isolating writing is, so any time you get the opportunity to get out of your head and see what you've accomplished, it's a good thing.

So, if you're an author looking for a way to keep track of your writing in 2022, I highly recommend picking up a copy of this planner.

This is an interesting and useful planner for writers who need a little extra assistance. Pretty handy.

A great resource for people who need motivation, or simply to develop or start the writing habit. I'm a pretty productive writer, but enjoyed a lot of the prompts here. I would definitely recommend it, and it'd make a fantastic gift to an aspiring writer.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Honestly, you don’t need this book to write for 52 weeks. You just need to write for 52 weeks. However, I will say that there were a few interesting prompts, like learning the setbacks of your favorite author and how they got through them. The book is repetitive in nature but with decent questions for each week. This wouldn’t help me keep to a writing schedule better than an X in a calendar. But I get why someone might want this to help keep them accountable. I just don’t think it would work very well. Thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy.

A book to help you get in the habit of trying to write every day. Seems like it would be helpful to inspiring writings.

Being a writer can be a lonely, gruesome, a minefield of self-doubt for anyone even those acclaimed published authors. The hours are long, inspiration comes at unpredictable time and the drive to writer runs solely on love.
With this book, however, we can lessen the pain that comes with the trade. The questions are thoughtfully designed. Reading through the prompt, the care the author took in creating this journal is apparent. I would recommend this journal for anyone who dreams of writing. It has ample questions and suggestions, and you can answer to as many or as few as you like. Bonus point: it is connected to a Facebook group where writers can support and cheer for one another.

"52 Weeks of Writing Author Journal and Planner" by Marielle Smith has really helped me this year. I'm a writer with a day job and a family, so time and focus are at a premium most days. I struggle to complete what I hope to, in all areas of my life. Writing is one area that kept getting sent to the bottom of the pile of things I wanted and needed to do. It hasn't been a perfect execution of making writing more central to my daily life, but this journal and planner has helped me be more intentional and structured, and has helped me make some new strides in my writing plans and projects. It keeps me focused on my goals and keeps me at least in the atmosphere of writing that I want to have as part of my daily life. I can't fully focus on a writing career, but I am still a writer and I can still exercise that desire and activity. This journal and planner has helped me do that.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is one of those books that you get out of it what you put into it. I haven't done all 52 weeks yet but I still wanted to leave my review! This book encourages you to set goals, reflect about what went wrong and what got in your way, encourages you to break down your goals, and to inspire you through weekly prompts. It's definitely a book you want to get if you are ready to be honest with yourself about your writing journey.

Fir years I have been trying to establish a regal Kay writing practice outside of what I must write for work. This book is a good guide and presents a very helpful format and plan for doing just that. Useful tips, prompts and encouragement.
