Unpredictable and dark is how I would describe Run Rose Run by Dolly Parton and James Patterson. It took me some time to get into the story, and I think that the short chapters helped me keep going. The story focuses on a young woman, with a mysterious past, who has made her way to Nashville and who through luck and some ingenuity on her part, becomes connected with a Nashville legend, who takes her under her wing and helps her to develop her career. When reading I envisioned Ruthanna’s character to be Dolly herself!
Thank you to NetGally, Little, Brown and Company and the authors for an eARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.

A James Patterson and Dolly Parton creation. I felt it was mostly Dolly's writing. I wish I could have gotten the audio version as it would definitely be better. I agree with others that it would make a decent movie. It was not full of mystery and plots but I did find myself liking the three main characters. It reads easy and a bit slow but recovers further into the book. So I recommend the audio version. Thank you NetGalley and publishers Little Brown and Co. This is my opinion given freely.

Run, Rose, Run, can’t help but be about a young woman running from a hard life, to hitch her star to the sky in Nashville, Tennessee. Written by James Patterson and Dolly Parton, this book about AnnieLee’s dream, becomes a dream in my heart for her as well.
AnnieLee meets several people along the way the way that help her. Then there’s always a guy on music row waiting to take advantage of a young woman with talent and someone trying to derail the success.
I couldn’t help but pull for AnnieLee or whatever her real name was. She was running away from something or someone and holding fast to her shining star for Nashville.

I enjoyed reading this unlikely collaboration between a much-loved entertainer and a world renown author. The writing is classic Parton and Patterson, which makes it a truly enjoyable read.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book

Title: Run, Rose, Run
Author: Dolly Parton and James Patterson
Ch: 96
Length: 10:26:15
Genre: fiction hint of mystery
Rating: 4.5 stars
I have to say that I would read anything that Dolly writes. We technically I listened to the audiobook which is narrated by Dolly and a full cast. I love full cast audiobooks every main character gets its own narrator which adds to the story. And even though it's also written by James Patterson it doesn't read like a James Patterson it reads like what I think a fiction book written by Dolly would read like. Annielee was my favorite character though Ruthanna Ryder was a close second as the retired Country queen, Ruthanna's character reminded me so much of Dolly and I can't help but wonder if Dolly did that for a reason. And of course any good country story like any good country love song needs a hero, enter Ethan Blake the Army Captain turned songwriter. The book does start out a little on the slow side but quickly picks up.
Run, Rose, Run has been optioned for a movie and that's something I'm looking forward to, and to me there's only one person who could play Ruthanna Ryder and that's Dolly herself.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Run Rose Run is a fast paced, don't talk to me I am reading book,
The collaboration between James Patterson and Dolly Parton does not disappoint.
I also bought the album to go with the book or does the book go with music.
I can't wait for the movie to be made with Dolly .
Pick up your copy , you wont be disappointed: the pace starts from page one and never lets go.
Thanks to NetGalley and Little Brown & Company for a very enjoyable read.

I have read a lot of James Patterson's books. This is one of his best. Co-written by country music legend Dolly Parton, it is the story of a young woman who finds her way to Nashville. She is destitute when she meets the country music legend who is an aging star much like Dolly, The star takes her under her wing but the young singer has a past that haunts her. Of course, there is a guitar-playing love interest who protects her. It is a good story and well told. The characters are interesting, and the plot is one that you will want to read until the end. Thanks to Dolly and James for a good book. Thanks to @RunRoseRun#NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I love Dolly Parton and I had high hopes for this book, but unfortunately I really disliked the writing style. I also found a lot of the plot points trite and cliche. I was disappointed and ended up not finishing the book.

Great collaboration between Dolly Parton and Jane's Patterson. This book was an enjoyable, quick read and would make a great movie with a great soundtrack. Definitely not your typical Patterson book, but has its twists.

Picked this up because of Dolly Parton, but not even my love of the singer could save this book. There wasn’t any heart in the book. The plot was weak with lots of holes.

I read this book when it was released in March 2022. I don’t recommend it. I expected more from a collaboration between Dolly Parton and James Patterson than this mostly formulaic novel about a young country singer who, fleeing a difficult past, has the great good fortune to be noticed by country legend RuthAnna (aka Dolly). So there’s the expected rise to stardom / screwup / back to stardom thread. Then there’s the girl meets boy, problems ensue, they end up together storyline. And then there’s the thriller part that Patterson no doubt called in. I was very disappointed by this book and the only reason it’s getting two stars is that the full cast recording was expertly read, including by Dolly / RuthAnna, whom I adore.

As AnnieLee’s rocket-ride to fame intensifies, we see that all three of our protagonists are hiding major secrets, and in AnnieLee’s case, those secrets come in the form of a deadly threat.
I liked this book alot. It was easy to follow and towards the end you really couldn't put it down. There are times when you can just hear Dolly's voice and influence while reading. I love the lyrics that are sprinkled throughout the book. Not to mention there is a soundtrack that coincides with the book!! My only criticism is that not only did I want more character development. It wasn’t clear why AnnieLee hid everything from those around her when they could have helped. Also I wanted to know what happened to her sisters and more of a sense of one happened after (other than the brief final chapter). Maybe a sequel?
Definitely worth the read. This is my first book by both authors and definitely won’t be my last! 3,5 rounded up.

I found the story line to be far fetched. However Dolly Parton’s spunk and enthusiasm shines through the prose.
Very easy & fast read, if you enjoy simple plots.

Who doesn’t love James Patterson and Dolly Parton? A great combination of a fast, fun read along set to music. You can see Dolly’s contribution throughout the entire read. As much as I enjoyed the book, i thought the ending was somewhat underdeveloped. No big surprises as it abruptly ended.

Not a huge fan of James Patterson but I knew I had to read this one when I found out Dolly Parton was going to be part of it! I really enjoyed it! The writing was fast paced and the story kept me interested the entire time.

I have always been a big fan of James Patterson's solo work, but I will admit that I have not been super impressed with most of his collaborative work thus far, but when I saw he wrote a book with Dolly Parton I knew I would have to read it. I really enjoyed the characters and the country music flair of the story line. I felt that the typical James Patterson mystery and suspense could have been taken up just a notch though. I liked that the song book of the 3 country singers was included at the end of the book. If you like country music you will probably enjoy Run, Rose, Run.

I love Dolly Parton and I’ve enjoyed many of James Patterson’s books but this one just wasn’t for me. I couldn’t get into the character’s lives and the story didn’t seem believable to me. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Dolly delivers. I love Dolly and I found this collaboration to be Interesting. I have read many James Patterson books. This one is another great read to add to his book list.

Cross a thriller writer with an icon in country music and the result is the emotional highs and lows of a country song. Escape. Deeply hidden secrets. Ambition. Fear. Love. Country music and thrillers have these in common and they come together in this book.

Another great book by James Patterson and Dolly Parton! Love this story, taking place in the heart of Country Music, Nashville, about an up and coming country music star mentored by a legend in the music business. You become immersed in the lives of the characters, and how they come together to create this story of heartbreak and success, in America’s beloved institution of Country Music! Wish the story went further, did not want it to end yet! Maybe there was a too big of a gap in the story at the end?
