This was a hard one for me to get into, I didn't love the characters and felt that the pacing was off. The writing was well done though.

I love scandalous, celeb drama but this was just okay for me. It was the type of thriller that moves very slowly and doesn’t have much surprises as the story unfolds. No one at all is likable and it’s hard to care about anything happening. Felt a little bland but had potential.

Ned and Adam are a pair of brothers that run a chain of highly exclusive resorts. This book starts with the opening of a resort on their newest location, The Island Home. In true Agatha Christie fashion, there is a mystery that rocks the large, isolated group. The book is devoted to looking at each of the individual characters and their motives, which, as if often does, made for an entertaining read.

The Club is a bit of a slow burn. A lot of background about the many characters is laid in the first half of the book. There is also a lot of description about how exclusive the resorts are, and what kind of celebrities and socialites would be invited to attend. The authors did a great job of setting up the atmosphere, but that did drag a bit for me. I will also warn that you aren't even aware who the victim is for a large portion of the book, but that didn't bother me a bit.

I really enjoyed reading about the different characters and their different motivations, so the second half of the book came together well for me. I was also surprised by some of the twists that were thrown in. If you're looking for a fun closed circle mystery, The Club is a great choice.

Spellbinding who done it! Intriguing from the very beginning. This book starts with a twist and gives you some information so you can guess at who is in the car, then gives you more information which will have you changing your mind on who it really is and what happened. Throughout the whole book you wonder who to trust and like and who to be wary of. Such a great read!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you NetGalley Ellery Lloyd and Harper Collins Publishers for this edition and hearing my honest review. Looking forward to reading more with you

I enjoyed this book. It had a lot of twists and kept my interest. It did have a lot of characters and sometimes it was hard to remember which was which but overall a good read.

This was an interesting concept but it just didn't land for me. I thought I would enjoy it more but I didn't really care for the flow of the book nor the characters we were introduced to.

This book has a few things that are a little unusual but that is also what makes this book so entertaining. It is a little slow to get going but once everything starts it is definitely worth sticking with. I also liked the added clips from articles of what really happened on the island. The author did a great job of bringing all of the layers and connections together. Definitely a slow burn mystery with some nice twists and turns!

Thank you Harper for sharing this book with me!

The Club by Ellery Lloyd. Pub Date: March 1, 2022. Rating:🌟🌟. Initially I was intrigued by the premise of this book. Lifestyles of the rich and famous being portrayed at an exclusive club on an island...sign me up. But, once I started reading I could not get invested. The novel was too wordy, long chapters, pages of on going descriptions that made the book just drag on and not much substance. I think the idea of the book was great, the execution was not. This one was a miss for me! Thanks to netgalley and Harper for the free e-arc in exchange for my honest review. #harper #netgalley

I always enjoy the books Reese picks for her book club. This one did not disappoint. It was a little far fetched for me (but maybe not), since I am not among the rich and famous. It would be fun I guess to have money to be able to go to a private "Home" group and be able to do whatever you want and wish for. But, be careful what lurks within your walls!! Most of the members seem to have something to hide along with most of the employees of the "Home". The outlandish things people do and hide are unbelievable and this book kept you wanting more and more. It is definitely an amazing thriller with twists and turns that keep you turning the pages. Would highly recommend. Thanks to #Harper, #netgalley and @ellerylloyd_author for an ARC of the book.

After seeing this book everywhere, I wanted to love it. But, as per usual, a hyped up book didn’t live up to the hype for me. It wasn’t bad, don’t get me wrong. It just didn’t wow me. But I can say I’ve read it so…
The Club is an exclusive club for the super rich and famous run by the Home Group with locations all around the world and the most elite clientele desperately trying to get in. The newest location is set to be the most spectacular of them all, and the Home Group staff are turning away even A-List celebrities. The Home Group is headed up by Ned Groom, and the story is told from the POV of several of Ned’s employees: Jess the head housekeeper, his brother Adam, director of membership Annie & Ned’s personal assistant Nikki. Everyone seems to be hiding something, and with a cast of characters as unlike able as these, nothing is surprising. It’s interesting to see how the other half live-in this case the rich behave badly as what is suspected as a publicity stunt turns out to be the murder mystery heard about all around the world.
Thanks to Harper Publication and NetGalley for this arc in exchange for my review.

This book was square in my wheelhouse - isolated thriller, multiple POVs, a string of deliciously unlikable characters and nod to Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. I finished it last week and the more distance I have from the book the more I find I love it. (And to be fair I thought it was great while I was reading it too, but my affection for it keeps growing!)

THE CLUB follows the team behind the launch of Island Home, the latest in a group of global celebrity members’ only clubs where the rich and famous pay a lot of money for exclusivity, luxury and most importantly, privacy.

Set just off the English coast, there is one road in and out and when high tide comes the island is completely cut off from the main town. So basically a perfect place for things to go horribly wrong and for its guests to have no way to escape.

On the opening pages of the book we know this weekend has taken a turn for the deadly. Someone is dead…we just don’t know who. Or why. Then we go backwards in time and watch the weekend unfold in all it’s dark and messed up glamour.

We get POVs from the team behind Island Home including Ned, the CEO, Nikki, his longtime Personal Assistant, Annie, who is in charge of Guest Services and Jess, the new Head of Housekeeping.

The multiple-POV structure is reminiscent of Lucy Foley (who I love) and I really enjoyed getting the perspective of the people who work at Island Home vs. the celebrities who are the guests. We do get time with our celebs, but the behind the scenes felt very “inside Hollywood” to me and maybe it’s because I spent part of my career working at a property that included high-end residential and a 5-star hotel, the feelings and opinions of the staff really rang my bell.

I love the snark of the staff and that while they may put on a good show in front of their celeb clients they have no hesitation to share with the reader how they really feel. The staff is our way in behind the velvet rope and I was here for it.

Filled with secrets, lies, devious turns, straight up terrible behavior, motives all around and characters who are willing to do anything to protect their reputations and get what they want…this is one event no one will ever forget.

Assuming they live to tell about it that is.

Such a great read! I devoured this one!

First - Thank you Net Galley for this Read Now version. I picked this book up because of the author - I really liked her other book People Like Her. I also saw it was a Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick. I really was excited, but then I struggled getting into it and just felt like there were a lot of extra words, and it was all over the place. Towards the end it did get better, but had a slow beginning.

Told in multiple view points and time frames, this is a story about a super exclusive celebrity club that Everyone wants to join. The Home Group, brothers Ned & Adam recently purchased an Island and were getting ready for the 3 day launch party. Guests come there to escape the media, and let loose. This book is filled with secrets, lies, and deception.

The premise of this book is excellent but it would benefit from some editing. The book is overly descriptive and starts off quite slow making it difficult to want to keep reading. The later half of the book did pick-up but overall not one of the better thrillers I have read this year. I know some people did love it but I couldn't get over the slow start.

The Club by Ellery Lloyd was a fun thriller about an exclusive club. The glamour of resort opening and back and fourth time line kept this story interesting. The beginning moved a bit slow but once the story picked up I was intrigued! If you're in the mood for fun new thriller, look no further than The Club. Thank you to NetGalley and Harper for a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

The Club Was a good read. You get all the characters points of view. An exclusive club on the best are invited to the exclusive Clubs. Kind of hard to really write a review without giving anything away. Nothing is what it seems. People go missing like a twisted marriage of clue and the eating game

This is one of those books where none of the characters are likeable at all. There were too many characters to keep track, made that much harder but the fact that I simply didn't want to read about any of them. I loved the idea of a secret club that was in peoples homes however it lent itself to way much description of mundane things like the furniture. There were some good twists but nothing that could overcome the rest.

Wow! I enjoyed the first novel by Ellery Lloyd (husband and wife duo, Collette Lions and Paul Vlitos), People Like Her very much, but this time they really knocked it out of the park!

A satisfying mystery unfolding over the course of a weekend as the latest and most ambitious location of mega-exclusive members-only club Home, The Club leaves no threads hanging and takes several very unexpected twists and turns. I loved the take on celebrity - we all see it, we can all say “oh this guy reminds me of this guy plus this guy” for every ultra famous character within - and the impact it can have on those around us.

I highlighted several passages from Nikki, the head is Home’s loyal assistant. As a professional assistant myself for over a decade, I could relate to many aspects of her job and the internal monologue of an assistant that no one ever gets to hear.

The Club is a page turning must read for my fellow fans of mysteries that take place in isolated locales and also readers of celebrity gossip (deuxmoi, anyone?). Many thanks to Harper Collins for the advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest thoughts - receiving this ARC was nearly as good as making it off the waitlist at Home.

I enjoyed hearing the story from multiple POV and flipping back from present to past. I did think that it was a little complicated in the beginning learning all the different characters.
