The story started off a little slower than expected. It took a long time to get to the suspense and mystery. It takes place in a new location of a luxury resort for A list celebrities. Everyone at the resort, staff and celebrities had secrets they were trying to hide. Trying to keep their secrets hidden gave each of them a motive. It was difficult to keep up with all of the characters because it was told from different points of view in each chapter. This concept works better in a movie or tv show.
I received this ARC from the publisher for my honest review.

The Club tells the story of The Home Group, an elite club of the of affluent celebrities. It has some twists and turns, but none were a shocking surprise when the whys and hows were revealed. I never was able to form an attachment with any of the characters, although they were decently developed – none of them were particularly likable. Overall, it was an entertaining read, but it never invoked a sense of suspense for me. #TheClub #NetGalley #JennReviews

The book premise is about a club for the rich and famous. All the who's who can't get in soon enough. Once at the club they are all unlikeable and hiding something. It took a while to get into this storyline, it seemed like a lot of unnecessary information that you had to wade through to get to the point of the storyline. The revelations and twists along the way keep your interest level at a bare minimum. Everyone is unlikeable and probably guilty of something. Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book.

I loved the premise for The Club, but it ultimately fell flat for me. I was expecting an atmospheric, thrilling mystery, and I kept reading in the hopes it would get better, but sadly it just wasn’t my cup of tea. The pacing was too slow, the writing was overly descriptive, there was way too much drama, and there were way too many characters. If you enjoy slow-burn thrillers with a lot of drama, this would be a great book for you!

Can you guess who died and who lived to tell the tale?

The Club has Malibu Rising vibes but in thriller form. Celebrity drama while being told over a course of the opening weekend of a new residence for The Home. With 4 different perspectives from; Annie, Adam, Jess, and Nikki the novel slowly pieces together the unfortunate events that occurred over opening weekend. This was a fun thriller and I enjoyed the interview and article snippets throughout the novel. The celebrity dynamics in here were soo interesting and I can imagine interviews irl being skewed to the public. Everyone in here had secrets and hidden agendas which had me going through each chapter quickly to find out more about each MC. I definitely recommend If you like trying to imagine how the rich and famous live!

Thank you to Harper Publisher, Ellery Lloyd and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review an eARC of The Club!

DNF around 60%.... I wanted to love this, but nothing was happening?!?! (Too many characters and I was very bored) Obsessed with the cover but just couldn't force myself anymore.

(I loved the author's last book)

Novels set in an environment with celebrities and rich people are all the rage now. The second half of the book made more than up for the slightly slow start.

I did not enjoy this book. For me the writing style was clunky and overly descriptive with poor sentence structure. It was also obvious there were two authors, the story is uneven. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy.

Perfect book for fans of Malibu Rising, The Club takes secrets of the rich and famous to a whole new level. Everyone has a secret they are trying to hide and everyone wants to kill Ned, the owner of The Club. Who actually succeeded? Great character development along with the back stories of each character. A fast read, and writing that will keep you guessing who the murderer is. And, at one point, wondering who ends up dead. Very enjoyable!

The Club by Ellery Lloyd is truly a wild ride about the secret world of celebrity clubs. I enjoyed this one. For one, it’s more of a mystery, which is totally my speed, but also this book is entertaining. Although, it’s also quite dark in several aspects too.

But there’s also a bit of a satire aspect to it; almost like the authors were having a bit of fun torturing many of the ridiculously-behaved people. While pretty brutal at times, I did find myself enjoying The Club more than I expected. It’s a classic mystery in many ways and does keep you guessing until the end. This is ideal book for those who enjoy locked-room mystery/type setting as well as those who like satires on celebrities.

For fans of Liane Moriarty, this is the book for you! So many complex characters and story lines happening! While the characters were well developed and the story lines interesting, it was sometimes hard to keep up with who was who and what was going on.

The Home Clubs are exclusive, just as Ned Groom likes them to be. Anyone who is famous or has dreams of being famous wants in on the club at Home. There is more going on than is on the surface…there are several people at the opening of Island Home that are very disgruntled. When the truth comes out, people will end up dead.

My head is still spinning. I think this would probably be a great movie. As someone who loves celebrity gossip magazines this book was just as fast paced and interesting as I hoped it would be!

Ned Groom’s Island Home was designed to be an A-Lister’s dream resort. Two and a half miles of island life, including beaches, cabins, restaurants, fitness studios, etc. (and at rates as low as £5000 per night) who could say no to a week in paradise?

I wanted to love this one, but I ended up DNFing at about 30% read on my Kindle. It was just way too much detail and not enough thrill, and I found myself not retaining the information I needed to remember about each of the different characters as it switched from one POV to another.

Someone with more of an interest in celebrity gossip and culture may really enjoy this one, though!

The Home Group consists of very accomplished and well-known celebrities who have access to multiple clubs throughout the world known as Home. Home is a place for celebrities to unwind and relax without the pressure of media or anyone recognizing them. CEO Ned Groom is about to throw an extravagant launch party for their newest edition Island Home along with an exclusive A-List guest list. However, behind Home’s huge success, cracks begin to form in the foundation and loyalties are questioned and tensions run high and when someone ends up dead, everyone is a suspect.

This was a slow-burn, whodunit mystery-thriller set on a luxurious island with alllll the celebrity drama. I loved the plot for this book, it kept me turning the pages as I tried to figure out what exactly was going off. There are plenty of unlikable characters to choose from when it come to finding the culprit. At times, it was a little hard to keep track of all of them as some were way more prominent in the story than others. The writing style reminded me of “The Guest List” by Lucy Foley. There were also some parts that were a little too over-detailed.

I would take your time while reading this one, there are some small details that could be easy to miss. The book is in multiple POV’s of people on the island weaved in is a Vanity Fair article detailing the aftermath which I really enjoyed it provided a solid understanding of everything that had happened. Thank you so much to NetGalley and the Publisher for an eARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review. This title is available now for purchase and is the Reese’s Book Club choice for March!

The Home Group, an exclusive A-list group, is opening a new resort. This new resort, Island Home, is the latest and greatest exclusive resort. Ned Groom, the CEO of Home Group, has planned an exclusive three-day launch party for the new resort. However, the launch party doesn’t go according to plan.

It took me quite a while to really get into this book. Had this book not been an ARC, I’m not sure I would have kept reading after 20%. There were a lot of characters and details in the beginning that didn’t quite feel essential to the story. However, I am glad I did continue reading as the story picked up and captured my attention in the middle of the book. I had to keep reading to find out who was killed as well as why they were killed. I also became intrigued by the interconnection between the five narrators that wasn’t apparent until later in the story. Overall, it was an intriguing story. However, I had to rate it 3.5 stars due to the slow beginning of the story.

The Club is a gripping followup to Ellery Lloyd's People Like Her. I found it to be even more complex, twisty and fast-paced than the previous book. The characters and the island itself are both so well-described, it's easy to slip into this fictional world. And even though there are a lot of characters and a lot happens in a short span of time, it's easy to follow the pace.

I did feel that the conclusion dragged out a bit and the very, very end was lackluster. I also think that there was at least one unnecessary perspective (and given the number of viewpoints, tightening them up might not have been a bad thing). But overall, I loved the book and all of its twists and surprises.

I had no idea what to expect when I started reading THE CLUB, but it drew me right in. It's multi-POV, each individual with their own motive and interesting perspective of what's happening. You know SOMETHING has happened, but the authors take you step by step into realizing what's really going on. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to their next one!

I came across The Club on NetGalley and saw it was a Read Now and after reading the description I thought why not and added it to my DRCs. I don’t usually start in right away but this one seemed to fit my reading mood, so in I went.

Now a locked room mystery is one of my favorites. And while this is not that it is essentially a locked Island one with an added bonus of no cellphones. Set during the opulent opening weekend, The Club reveals not only the mystery of what happens during that time, it peals back the layers of lies and deceptions of the attendees and the owner and his staff.

Rich and famous people behaving badly, those who enable the behaviors and the explosive nature when those secrets start to spill make for an extremely entertaining read. The who done it and why kept me guessing as there were suspects galore with a cause to do so. Fast paced, with a majority of characters you could love to hate for their outrageous behavior, The Club is a mystery/thriller that I quite enjoyed.

Money may not buy happiness, but I’d rather cry in a sports car than on a bus!

If you’ve ever wondered what it felt like to be a celebrity, living a glamorous life of travel, parties, and exclusive clubs, wonder no longer. Read “The Club”. With a cover just as alluring as the A-lister lifestyle. To make it even more intriguing, this club picks its members!

The cast of characters is devious, backstabbing, and plotting. And those are some of their better qualities. Just working at one of these clubs would be dangerous, especially to your integrity!

This story is still SO entertaining. Everyone is certain they are the smartest, most conniving of the bunch. And these people will stop at nothing to get what they want or hold onto what they have!

This is my first read by this author. It was fast and fun. A great book for the beach or pool!

Thank you to Harper and NetGalley for this electronic ARC. This is my honest opinion.

What a great book! I devoured it in one sitting. I love books about the glitzy and glamorous behaving badly and that’s exactly what you get here. An exclusive club is opening a new location on a hard-to-reach island when secrets are exposed, resulting in multiple deaths. The reader knows that people have died from the beginning but doesn’t find out who they are until the end. The POV switches between the members exec, the CEO’s assistant, the CEO’s, brother, and the new head of housekeeping. None of these people are super likable but they all draw you in nonetheless.

The pacing of the story is fast from beginning to end, and the alternating of voices was an effective way to tell it. The author did a great job of describing both the island and the atmosphere in a way that I could picture it clearly. Though there were a lot of characters, it was easy to keep them all straight and the characterization was good while not taking away from the action. There were multiple mysteries all wrapped up together and twists that surprised me throughout the book. I found the ending to be satisfying; loose ends were tied up and there was a promise of what else might come.

Overall, fantastic read that I would recommend for those like mysteries and thrillers, not to mention the secret lives of celebrities. I am going to go track down the previous book by this author. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Brothers Ned and Adam Groom have created Home Clubs all across the world for the rich and famous to party at. Island Home is the newest addition, and the grand opening weekend is the party to be at. Tensions are high with the stress of a new club opening for not only the Groom brothers but also their staff, who all have secrets of their own. Once secrets start to come out and the body count rises, the sinister side of The Club starts to show.

This book takes place over multiple POVs and I enjoyed how we learn the characters secrets and their motivations and get to see how it plays out throughout the book. While I did enjoy that aspect, unfortunately the book fell a little flat for me and I did not find it kept my attention well. Even though I did not click with the plot I did think this was well written and if you enjoy revenge and blackmail thrillers I think you will enjoy this one!

Thank you @harperbooks and @betgally for an advance e-arc! The Club is out now!
