In ‘Nothing’s Ever Easy’ Lily James returns to her home town when she receives the news that her mom isn’t doing well. It has been fifteen years since she last been in Peak Valley. Fifteen years, since she last saw Warren McKnight, the guy that she thought she would spend her life with. But unfortunately things went horrible wrong, and Lily had to leave without a word. Now she has to go back and risk everything.

Since Lily left, Warren has become the new Sheriff in town and he tried hard to forget about Lily. Since his father was the last Sheriff, and a horrible guy, Warren tries to erase his dad’s legacy. It’s a busy job, especially when a horrific murder happens in the little town. And when Lily returns after fifteen years, things might get even busier.

‘Nothing’s Ever Easy’ was first of all a fun read. I enjoyed getting to know Lily and Warren, and there was enough mystery in this book to keep me hooked to the pages. The romance between Lily and Warren was also nice enough, and I enjoyed the rekindling of their relationship.

But unfortunately I also had some troubles with this book. There was a lot going on in this book, and I feel like a lot of what was happening was kind of rushed in the end. For example the murder in this book. The book starts with a murder, and Warren is working to find out the murderer. Then another murder is committed, which was kind of important for this story, and all of a sudden we read the murderer is caught. But we never learn who the murderer was. This definitely felt odd to me. Why write about two murders, and end up without telling what was going on? This didn’t work for me at all.

Also the romance between Lily and Warren left me with a lot of questions. I enjoyed their relationship, don’t get me wrong. But they re-start their relationships after fifteen years apart rather sudden in my opinion. Was there never anyone else? Why did a Sheriff never find out what happened to his high school girlfriend? He just seemed to have accepted the fact that she disappeared. I don’t get it. Especially since Warren apparently still things about Lily a lot.

Although this story kept me hooked, in the end I just felt like this book left me confused and with a lot of questions. I definitely think there is a lot of potential in this read, that’s why I give it 3 stars but it just didn’t really work for me.

This is the first in a new series and is Warren and Lily’s story. Warren and Lily were destined to be soulmates, but when Lily disappears without a trace, Warren is left behind heartbroken. Lily left on a bus years before and never had any intensions of returning, however, when her brother calla that their mom is dying, she returns to spend some precious time with her mom. Warren is the son of the towns most evil and corrupt sheriff, and as the new sheriff he is faced with the challenge of turning the town into a safe and normal environment. Warren wants answers from Lily, and she tries to avoid him at all costs, but will these two be able to overcome the past and have a second chance at love when deep seated secrets are revealed? This is a well written flawless story which is heartwarming, and with secrets, mystery, emotions, twists, family, trust, and love, which leads to a riveting and all-consuming addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Back to Peak Valley!

I discovered this author about a year ago and have loved everything she has written. Going back to Peak Valley and Warren’s story has been on my radar for a while, and I was excited to see it land on my Kindle.

We have seen bits of Warren’s story, and I was not sure if I would like him, but that has changed. The teenage love that Warren and Lily shared was precious. Those who thought they knew better made sure they did not stay together. But time passes, and Lily’s mother is not doing well. She must return home. There is a mystery to solve and hearts to heal. I love this beginning to a new series. I am anxious to see what is next from this author.

This book explores the relationship between Warren and Lily, childhood sweethearts that were suddenly separated but end up meeting again after 15 years. Although it initially sounds like a romance novel, there is a series of murders happening in the town that affect the main characters. The book is well written and easy to read, however I do feel like it was cliche and rushed at points. The characters are likeable and you root for them but it just felt mediocre and nothing made it really stand out.

I really enjoyed this book, this second chance romance happens when after fifteen years away, Lily returns to town to be near her dying mother, and answers are given as to why she had to leave. Warren Sr’s controlling past comes back with a vengeance, and helps Lily and Warren to achieve their HEA.

4*
Lily James  & Warren had a special relationship and were ready for their future.
Until she left with no word, returning home she knows she will have to answer why she left.
Secrets are about to be revealed, betrayal is about to be uncovered.
A lovely start to a new series.

Finally Warren gets his HEA!!

I have to say that Warren has not always been my favorite character. In the last book couple of books we saw a more likable man but with a father like his it’s a wonder he turned out as good as he did.

Lilly came home to a dying mother. She and Warren were an item until his father put a stop to it. That man is just evil.

This was the perfect start to this new spinoff series about Peak Valley. I did miss Burns and his comic relief but the story kept me glued until the last page.
More serious and suspenseful than the other Peak Valley books. A wonderful second chance at love small town mystery.

I quite liked this book. Lily and Warren are in love, but one night Lily just disappears from their town of Peak Valley. Only to return 15 years later when her mother is dying.

Warren - now the Sheriff - is determined to find out why Lily left, but the reasons why might still be in play. If you like romantic suspense this is for you. The writing is pretty good although the plot itself not really original.
