Edie’s grandma Gloria is a matchmaker of sorts who has long predicted the day the women in their family will meet their future husbands. So when Edie meets an up and coming rockstar on a plane that day she’s convinced it’s meant to be.

Nothing groundbreaking here but if you’re looking for a cute premise with likable characters this is an easy read. Some of the love story in the end felt a little forced, but otherwise I enjoyed it

The concept of knowing the exact date you'll meet your soulmate is unique and had me excited to dive in. Edie’s journey, filled with love, self-discovery, and a dash of fate, is relatable and sweet. The book explores themes of destiny versus free will, which added some thought-provoking layers to the story.

However, while the premise is strong, the execution fell a bit flat. The pacing felt uneven, with some parts dragging while others seemed rushed. I wanted to connect more deeply with the characters, but I found myself struggling to fully invest in their journeys. Edie, in particular, felt a little one-dimensional at times, and some of her decisions didn’t always resonate with me.

Overall, Meant to Be Mine is a pleasant read with an interesting concept, but it didn’t quite leave a lasting impression. If you enjoy light romance with a touch of whimsy, it’s worth giving a try, but it might not be a standout in the genre.

pulled this one from my @netgalley backlist, and read it quickly this past weekend. 'meant to be mine' by hannah orenstein opens on our main character, edie, on the day her grandmother has predicted she will meet the love of her life. on a flight to visit her twin sister, who is about to be engaged (another predicted perfect match), she sits next to theo, a musician based in brooklyn. when sparks immediately fly, edie knows this is the man she's meant to be with. but when red flags start popping up about how theo might not be perfect for her, edie has to think about maybe making her own destiny for herself.

this book was very easy to read, though at times the narrative style was a little grating. i ultimately liked the premise of the book, but found edie's decisions to not always be consistent with her characterization. i loved her relationship with her family, and how that was explored in the book. overall i enjoyed, but not one i will revisit.

I unfortunately did not finish this one - I could not get into it at all. despite really enjoying Head Over Heels by this author. Rating 4 stars since I didn't finish, therefore no real critiques to standby.

I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.

I really wanted to like this book more however the maid character Edie drove me nuts with her indecisiveness. I think that is more of an issue with me and characters than the authors writing.

The story is well written and I loved that the basis of the story was how our upbringing and culture and family values are very important and make us who we are. And keep us grounded.

I wish I would have seen more growth in the book from Edie rather than at the end.

Hannah Orenstein does it again! I loved this book and couldn't put it down. The characters jumped off the page and the book's premise was unique.

If you could be given the exact date that you would meet “The One”, by your grandmother who has accurately predicted the date virtually everyone in your extended family has met their true love, would you want to know? Would you believe it?

Provided that you said yes and you know that date, would you do anything different when that day arrives? In Meant to Be Mine by Hannah Orenstien, Edie knows her date and is so excited when it finally arrives. She is 29 and ready for true love to begin. She takes extra care when dressing and keeps her eyes peeled as she catches a plane to her twin’s surprise engagement party. She is so happy to meet the most gorgeous man, she isn’t even nervous, but they don’t exchange numbers and that is just the start of this new relationship with the man she feels has to be “it”.

This fun book actually made me think; if you feel so strongly that you are on the right path, how blind are you to the signs that point elsewhere? If it works for everyone, will it work for you too? And if things don’t look so perfect, are you really just looking it the wrong place?I know, I probably wasn’t supposed to get so introspective, but it was fun to think about and better to discuss.

This was full of fun relationships, between Edie and her prophesied soulmate, Edie and her twin sister, and Edie and her family. I enjoyed them all. I think the love and support Edie has from everyone really gave her a safe place to take off from, and a safe place to land as well.

This is one of those books that the #clearyourshelfchallenge nudged me to take off my shelf and finally read. It also has a green cover which is good for a couple of challenges and Bingo cards this month. A winner all around.

This author writes some solid, entertaining chick lit (Playing With Matches, Head Over Heals) and I look forward to seeing what she comes up with next.

I love the idea of the supernatural speeding up the love process. This story was such a great one. Clever because it wasnt simply- youll meet the man of your dreams on XYZ date and then live happily ever after. It was kind of the way relationships work but with the how you met already figured out.
It was a cute but real story!

Meant to Be Mine is the perfect sweet romance book! I enjoyed it so much, and I shared it in my 9 Swoon-Worthy Books for Music Lovers blog post (linked below)!

Meant to Be Mine will make you question everything you think about soulmates. It's the cutest premise with super likable characters you root for the whole way through. I loved how Hannah Orenstein gave us behind-the-scenes glimpses into the music industry in New York City.

This book is the best balance of lighthearted and fun without being sappy, and I loved Edie's grandmother, Gloria. What a character! I will definitely be picking up more of Hannah's romance books.

So dang cute! I loved Edie and her entire family. I understood and sympathized with the pressure she felt to find her match and live up to the family lore.

This story was a light and easy read and I definitely enjoyed it. It was short and sweet and I finished it in about two days. I like the characters and the unique storyline. It was entertaining and cute! Thank you netgalley for my free copy.

It’s a cute rom com, but the ending felt rushed with the new love interest. I also feel the back story with her ex boyfriend Jonah, was well developed in so much, as he was her true love. I think that the message was you shouldn’t leave everything to fate, but it wasn’t a as much of a “feel good book” as I would have liked.

I enjoyed this book, at some points it felt a little long and maybe could’ve been a little shorter. But I’m a big “what’s meant to be will be” girl so this book is truly that in a nutshell!

I would a million percent think nonstop if I knew the date of a specific life changing event in the future and probably wouldn’t be the best for me lolol but hey what’s meant to be will be!

Really 3.5 stars. A cute love story, nothing too groundbreaking or surprising here. Every character is likable, if a bit predictable.

This was a cute rom-com and was a quick and easy read, but it wasn't super memorable. I did love the premise of the story though.

I absolutely loved this book. Edie had her whole life planned out down to the day she met her soulmate thanks to her grandmothers premonitions. It’s such a cute rom-com with a nice little twist.

Edie knows the day that she will meet the love of her life. Her grandmother prophesized the days that every family member would meet their match. On Edie's day, she's on an airplane to witness her twin sister's engagement, and a handsome musician sits down next to her. Edie is overjoyed that this stranger she makes small talk with seems like he might be the one, but then he doesn't ask for her number. To Edie's surprise though, he's also on her return flight. Edie thinks it's fate, but as they begin spending time together, their views on family and relationships don't seem to add up. Will it work out anyway because of her grandmother's prophecy, or does fate have more in store for Edie? The plot is intriguing, and the family dynamics displayed in this book are deep and well-written. However, Edie is whiny and stubborn and very unlikeable as a main character. There was no chemistry between Edie and her potential match, so the chapters where they interact were cringey and frustrating. The side characters will ensure that readers finish the book, and it does have a mostly satisfying, though extremely rushed, ending.
