(3/5) What if you knew the exact date you'd meet the love of your life? Thanks to some magical foresight from her Grandma Gloria, Edie knows. But when Edie's date arrives and she meets a handsome stranger on a plane ride, she has to decide whether love chooses us, or if we choose it for ourselves? Edie will find out on her journey.

This was a fine read, though I would classify it more as women's fiction than romance itself, and definitely not a romcom. I was intrigued by the premise of the book, and I thought Orenstein did a good job of fleshing out the concept in a sweet story. I felt like the romance part of it was underdeveloped (especially the last few chapters) and could have used some more workshopping, especially given the number of times the author led you to believe that a different ending was coming [with the number of times Edie compared Theo to Jonah and how she kept wondering whether she should have ended up with Jonah instead. It got to the point where I was tired of Edie talking about how she led poor Jonah on even though she KNEW because of "the prophecy" that they weren't supposed to be together. (hide spoiler)] I wish this book created more sparks for me, but they just weren't there, especially because the author spent basically no time developing [Edie's relationship with Bennett, the actual "right guy" (no tension, no chemistry, etc.). It's just thrown in in the last few chapters that he wasn't with Edie's client anymore and was I guess open to a relationship? (hide spoiler)] I just wasn't into it. Considering that this book took me five days to read when usually when I pick up a good romance novel and can finish it in one sitting, this one just didn't hit the mark for me.

A very average but still cute romance! ♥️

3/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The thing about rating books is that it’s completely subjective. For me this book had a very hard to relate to main character. However, I think lots of people will rate this book 4 stars because they will relate to her. I just didn’t.

Meant To Be Mine is about a grandmother who has a gift of predicting when people will meet their true love. She’s gotten it right many times before and so we follow her granddaughter on the day that she’s been predicted to meet her love. BUT! Love isn’t always that straight forward and Edie has to choose between who she’s “suppose” to be in love with and what her heart really wants.

The romance story in this book was cute and I loved the supporting characters! Grandma Gloria and sister Rea were my favorite people. I honestly related to Rea more than Edie. I really didn’t enjoy how much pressure Edie put on herself to make it work with someone who clearly didn’t want the same things in life. It felt naive to me. But I can see how others do that in their relationships and would like reading about a characters experiences that were similar to them. It just wasn’t similar to me.

Knowing the exact moment you are going to meet your soulmate seems like an anticlimactic event time in your life. I wanted to see what would happen. the story had a good family vibe with the grandma predicting everyone's date. I enjoyed reading and it had good characters as well. I gave it 3.5 stars.

This book is adorable. While I could see where it was going, I enjoyed the journey with Edie. The grandmother character was the true highlight and the set up was cute but I appreciated how it led to deeper questions on what is “meant to be”.

Thanks to Atria Books and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. This is a sweet feel-good story that will make a great summer beach read. It’s a good mix of romance and family relationships, focusing on Edie and her grandmother’s prophecy of when she’ll meet the love of her life. There are several relatable characters and I’d definitely read more by this author in the future!

The premise of this book was so interesting and unique! Edie’s grandmother, Gloria, has successfully predicted the dates that many of her family members meet their true love. When Edie’s date arrives and she winds up sitting next to a handsome stranger on a flight, she is certain she’s found him. But she discovers it’s possible that two people who COULD be great together, may not find a way to make it work. And if “The One” isn’t the one you end up with, can you still find real, deep, true love? I really enjoyed watching this story unfold! It was so sweet and cute, like a warm hug. I loved the history between Edie and her sister, their mother, and grandmother. They had such beautiful relationships. I felt so torn, like Edie, as she wrestled with honoring her grandmother’s legacy and following her heart, but felt like the ending wrapped it all together so well. I feel like Gloria would be happy with how it all turned out!

Edie Meyers has known for the last 13 years that she’ll meet her soulmate on June 24, 2022. Her grandmother, Gloria, predicts with seemingly perfect accuracy when each person in her family will meet their match. But when the man she meets on June 24 isn’t quite as perfect for her as she always imagined, Edie is forced to consider whether love finds us or vice versa.

While I absolutely loved the ending and overall message of the story, parts of MTBM were hard to read. Edie spends a lot of time and energy convincing herself that she’s happy in her relationship - it’s hard to watch someone continue to make decisions that cause them pain! However, Edie’s internal tension takes up the perfect amount of real estate in the story so it doesn’t become an emotional drain on the reader but still feels like a realistic conflict in Edie’s life. Watching Edie work through her feelings and make a brave choice is so rewarding!

Another thing I really enjoyed about MTBM: I had no idea how it would end! It’s so rare to get a true “will they / won’t they” in a romance novel! The story could have ended 3-4 different ways, but I found the ending satisfying and worth the drama of Edie’s struggle.

This charming story comes out June 7 - don’t miss it!

Thanks to Atria and NetGalley the gifted copy. Opinions are my own!

I felt the same way about this as I did Orenstein's debut, Playing with Matches. It was okay!

I liked the family relationships in this book—the grandmother and the protagonist, the twin sisters and their bff. The way it was set up, I thought for a long time that the protagonist was going to get back with her ex, so the ending pairing felt a little rushed.

Overall, I prefer my romance/WF with more depth, but this was a fun, light read and if you take it as such, you'll enjoy it.

This is another great Hannah Orenstein book. I really enjoyed the characters and some of the banter. I feel like it was a quick read and would have liked a little more of the real love story toward the end. That's my only complaint! I can't wait to read more from this great author.

Quirky, funny and 100% entertaining. However, it also boasts a life question. Do you follow your heart or the prophecy if you know of a prophecy that you will meet your soulmate on a specific day? This is the case with Edie.

I read the whole book over two days. It was an easy and immersion read. All of the characters are lively and full of personality, and it makes it easy to identify with them and helps me keep on turning the pages to see what will happen. Don't let the niceness full you; there is somewhat of a twist at the end. I adore this book.

Meant To Be Mine

⭐️⭐️⭐️

This romance had such a different premise. Edie’s grandmother accurately predicts the date each of their family members will meet their loves.

I didn’t love this one. I really struggled with the main character, and her choices through most of the book. It didn’t follow the regular pattern of a romcom, but I didn’t think the variation was done well.

The book talks a lot about a loving and close knit family but I also thought there was a ton of pressure from her family based on the predictions. Not the most consistent.

Meant to Be Mine was a quick paced read that I finished in just a few days. The idea of Edie having a set date to meet “the one” was a new idea I haven’t read before. I think Edie characterizes many women who want to make it work even though they know it isn’t right for the sake of age or in this case, her grandma’s special power. Ultimately she realizes it won’t work out and decides to call it quits for her own good. This book does have a happy ending which at first I didn’t see coming, but after finishing made sense. Fast paced with good characters - 4 stars

Okay how cute was this book?! A family who have all found their true love due to Gloria’s (the rockstar grandmother of the family) psychic gift of knowing the date for when they would meet their perfect match.

The whole premise of this book had me hooked from the beginning of the synopsis and I cannot explain to you how sweet it was. There were so many cute moments in this book, and I cannot wait to buy this in physical copy when it comes out!

I loved following along with Edie as she experiences meeting her “one” on her predicted day. We get to watch her work through situations that she never thought she would be in, beginning to questioning what she even believes in and what she needs in a relationship.

I really loved how the family was Jewish and that the author really chose to dive into how much the family values tradition and family as a whole. I enjoyed reading about it a lot.

Overall, this book was wonderful and I cannot wait for all of you to read it when you get a chance! If you need a cute romance story set in New York, plenty of martinis, and love stories with a bit of a twist, this is definitely the book for you!

Meant To Be Mine is a story about Edie whose grandmother has a special skill and knows when you will meet the love of your life. Edie meets Theo on "the day" and although she's falling in love she isn't quite sure if he's the one.

Edie was a strong, successful woman and I always enjoy books who have a strong heroine.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the arc!

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

What would you do if you knew the day that you would meet the love of your life? Edie Meyer has known that exact day since she was 16 years old. Her grandmother, Gloria, has a gift. She has predicted the day everyone in the family would meet their mate.

On June 24, 2022, Edie’s destined date, she boards a plane to her twin sisters surprise engagement knowing somehow today will be the day she finds her true love. As fate may have it, incredibly handsome and talented Theo sits next to her on her flight and she knows this is THE ONE.

Or is he? There is something unsettled in Edie’s gut when it comes to him. But she can’t buck fate. But after a tragedy and a family confession, Edie’s foundation is completely shaken. Is this truly her destiny?

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

This was a fun ride. Edie is a successful 29 year old just looking for the love of her life. She is incredibly dedicated to her family and the family prophecy. This is a really fun love story. Your heart will swell, you will cringe, you will laugh, your heart will break, and it will be completely repaired and delighted by the end of this book. I was especially pleased with the tiny twist at the end of this book. It was so adorable and heartwarming. I am usually super skeptical of romance novels but this one was a ton of fun and really sweet.

If you love a good romcom, please do yourself the favor and add this to your TBR. It releases on June 7, 2022.

The overall premise of the story is good, but it gets lost in the overly descriptive details of every single thing in her life. I don't need to know that you're wearing "purple, block heeled sandals". You could just say "I slipped my sandals back on" or just not even mention it at all, since it doesn't help the story any. The references to pop culture and current things like celebrities, makeup brands, etc. also takes me out of the story. I feel more like I'm reading an article in Cosmopolitan magazine than a novel. That's basically my major issue with this book, just far too many unnecessary details. Get to the point of the story.

Imagine if you knew the exact date you would meet your soulmate. How would you feel? Would you be anixous or not believe in it? Edie’s grandmother had a special vision for people in her life where she would see the exact day they would meet their soulmate. I loved Edies character and her close knit family. The way the words jump off the page it makes you feel like you are part of their family.

This was such a fun and cute read. I couldn’t put it down. Before I was done I knew I loved this book. Sometimes when I have that feeling I worry about how it will end and give me closure to everything. In this book I loved the ending even more than I imagined I would.

A huge thank you to Atria Books and Netgalley for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book has magic and faith written all over it. Edie Meyer’s grandmother Gloria is a bit of an oracle in her family. Gloria has the gift of envisioning a date that each family member will meet their one true love, and she has many matches under her belt to solidify her prophesies. When Edie meets a handsome stranger on an airplane on her prophesied date, she can’t help but assume that fate has brought them together. Edie’s match has all the makings of a swoon-worthy butterflies in the stomach love match. A little predictable with where the narrative will follow, I still found myself floating along with Edie as she navigates her possibility of a fated happy ever after. The book introduces many possibilities and what-if scenarios that I hadn’t seen much of before in a romance. It’s rare that you see fated mates as a predicted coupling by a family member and I loved the mystical quality that Gloria brought to the table. The Jewish representation is also so fresh and I loved learning about some of Edie’s traditions and faith. I felt like Edie’s ex, Jonah, was kind of thrown at us, as if the reader should already know that history. For “romance reasons” it makes sense that Edie has always known what being in love feels like and compares her current relationship to her relationship with Jonah. As with any good book, the supporting characters are just as lovable as the lead although I felt like maybe there were some loose ends with Shireen. Overall I enjoyed the idea of Meant to Be Mine and the possibility of fated mates. Hannah Orenstein will find a place on my shelf in the future. Thank you to Atria and Simon and Schuster for this eARC. Also thanks to NetGalley for a copy to review in exchange for my unbiased opinions.
